In this edition of the Subie Scoop I state that I have released the long form YouTube video, Part 1, from my trip out to Overland EXPO West in Flagstaff, 2026. I also state that I am working on Part 2 which takes place at Subaru Base Camp where all the campers were staying who attended Overland EXPO.

[00:00:06] Hello and welcome to another edition of the Subie Scoop. You're listening to the Subie & You podcast. Of course, if you don't know that that's what you're listening to, then how did you get here? But anyway, thanks for tuning in. This one will probably be relatively short, but what I mainly wanted to say is that I finally got done with part one of my long-form YouTube video for Overland Expo

[00:00:33] West in Flagstaff for 2026. It was coverage and video footage of our cruise out to Edge of the World on Thursday before Overland Expo West. So I was cruising in my buddy Roman's Forester, and because I had a rental from Turo, I had a Crosstrek, and they have very strict policies about not taking it

[00:00:59] off-road. So I couldn't take it off-road, but I wasn't the only one. Sean with Rune Management, he also had rented a Crosstrek from Turo, and he said that they told him the same thing. So we both had to find a ride on the trek to Edge of the World. But it all started off with a breakfast, and then we gathered together, drove out to this meeting spot, kind of took a break there, and let people

[00:01:26] use the restroom and air down. Well, no, we didn't air down yet. But we used the restroom and then just kind of look around. And then we took off, got to the trail, everybody aired down that wanted to air down. And then we drove on a really, it was a really long trip. I don't know how long it took took us to get to Edge of the World once we got on the trail. I didn't time it. I don't really know

[00:01:52] exactly how long it took. But I mean, it took, I don't know, maybe an hour and a half or so. And I, we weren't thinking it was going to take that long, or I don't know, maybe even two hours. I'm not really sure. But it was a fun trek. And I got some good footage, I think, whenever we were out there. And again, I was riding with Roman. So there's some a lot of footage of me and him talking, just like to the camera, and then other footage of us just talking while I have my camera or my phone

[00:02:22] outside of his Forester, just recording what was going on. So the long form YouTube video is up for part one of my trip out to Overland Expo West 2026 in Flagstaff. And the part one is again, our trek out to Edge of the World. So it is my first video that I have done in long form like that my first video that I have edited. And to be honest, I was like very anxious about it because

[00:02:51] I didn't really know how I was going to put it together. I didn't know how I was going to edit it. And then I didn't have a plan about like what I was going to record before I went out there. Because again, this was my first time doing this. So I didn't really go into it with a plan. Like I could have had a better intro and I could have had a much better outro. So whenever I go to the next

[00:03:16] events, I, you know, I can try to do things better because we will have another cruise when I go to the PNW, Overland Expo PNW in like a week and a half, we are going to do another cruise. So for all of you, any of you YouTubers out there that have been doing YouTube for a while, if you have any suggestions, especially like if you've done a lot of cruises and you put together videos, like I, I,

[00:03:43] I could use some feedback. So I, I sent it to my girlfriend and her and her daughter kind of analyzed it. And they said that maybe I should have done a better like opening where it's me with all of the cars and saying something like follow us to edge of the world as we cruise out through, you know, wherever we were. And then also do some music in some parts. And I'm not really sure how to do the music because I know with YouTube, it's kind of tricky. I've only done music in CapCut. So I'm

[00:04:12] guessing maybe you can add music just to certain parts, but I don't really know how to do that yet. And then also they said, maybe I could do some like time-lapse of some of the, you know, cruising parts. So that was really good feedback from them. And so if you have any ideas, you can either comment directly because the YouTube video is up and it's called part one Subaru's off-roading to edge of the

[00:04:38] world, Arizona. So it's a long title, I know, but you can just go to Subi and you YouTube channel and you'll see it there, but you can either comment on the video or you can send me a DM or you can send me an email at subiandupodcast.com and just, or wait, subiandupodcast at gmail.com. And so, yeah,

[00:05:02] so if you have some feedback, if you have some suggestions of what I could do for the remaining overland expos that I'm going to attend and maybe how I can make the videos better or just other ideas, I would really appreciate it because I want to be able to go to the next events with a little bit more of a plan. And, uh, and having done the editing for this past, that the first video, and then now

[00:05:28] working on the second video, uh, I kind of know a little bit more about going into the editing process and what I want to do. And the editing is going to be much easier. I think next time, not easy in the sense of like, it's going to go quickly because it's this second video is taking me a long time to do, and I'm definitely going to have it ready this week, but it's just,

[00:05:54] it's a lot of footage to go through a lot of stuff to cut out. I'm also adding in, like, if somebody mentions something about the event, whether it's there, where the camping is or the Subaru booth or whatever, I'm adding in little video clips or images. I'm also doing text. So it's a lot of work and it's taking a long time, but, uh, it's fun. You know,

[00:06:21] it's a learning process doing a longer form video like this is definitely a learning process. But, um, so yeah, so just, just to recap, the first video part one is just us cruising out to edge of the world. And then, um, and then part two, what I'm working on now is it is an, the intro is going to be kind of going over what Subaru base camp is. And that's where all of the campers were

[00:06:47] that were invited out by Subaru of America. And I'm also, it's going to be kind of almost like a video podcast in a way, because I'm doing interviews with a few different people and, or several different people really. And I'm doing interviews with people asking them about what they think about base camp, what they think about the whole camping setup, and then also what

[00:07:12] they think about the Subaru booth and then overland expo. So it's basically like a series of interviews throughout the whole video. Cause it's going to end up being like an hour long. So, you know, a podcast episode is more than an hour long typically, but this is going to be in video format and I'm trying to make it not boring. I mean, because you know, the conversations are the

[00:07:36] conversations, but again, once if somebody mentions, like, for example, I'm talking to this one guy and he mentions that Chris Ingram, who goes by Subaru off road, he's like, Oh yeah, it was cool to see his rig in the booth. So right. As he says that I throw up a little video clip I did of Chris's rig and that's, that's Subaru booth. So it's a lot of that type of editing where I'm adding in video clips.

[00:08:00] I'm also adding in some still photos and then text, but, uh, and I'm also using keyframes in CapCut too, you know, so that it's not like just a still image in the same spot, you know, I'm zooming in and out, panning a little bit here and there. And then like, you know, if I, if I'm putting in an image or a little video clip, then I'll like pan to the side to give it more room. So I'm just playing around with it, you know, trying to have a little bit more fun with this video. And again, it's going

[00:08:28] to be a lot of conversations and that's primarily what it's going to be, but so stay tuned for that. But the first one, part one is ready. Go to Subie and You YouTube channel. You can see that video, watch it and, uh, just let me know what you think, uh, for my first video. But anyway, thanks for tuning into another Subie scoop. We'll see you next Monday for a full episode. I hope you all have a wonderful week. Much Subie love. Raph.
