Subie Scoop - October 26

[00:00:06] Welcome to the Subie & YOU!. This was supposed to be episode 239, but with the schedules that me and my guest ended up having this past week, we just weren't able to make it happen. So we were not able to connect and record this episode, but we're hoping to connect this week so that we can record and get this person on the podcast because it's somebody that I've been talking to for a while.

[00:00:35] And I really want to get their take on their Subaru journey and their Subaru because I think it would be a really good episode. And this person is pretty active and they have a pretty cool Subaru and one that I haven't had a lot of on here before. So that's another good that's another reason that I think it would be a good episode and I think it would be fun to get them on here.

[00:01:01] But in other news, since this is just going to be a Subie Scoop now, my son's car, his Outback is in the shop. We took it last Friday to drop it off at J&D Motorworks here in Houston and trying to figure out what's going on with this transmission. So I don't know if they had a chance to look at it on Friday, but they should be looking at it today and let us know what's going on.

[00:01:28] And they said that it I've had a few people comment on what's going on with it and say that it could potentially be the valve body. And if it is, that's a lot of money. But also, I'm not able to get him another car right now. He's in school. He needs to get to school. So we're just gonna have to do what we can do and see if we can make it work.

[00:01:52] So, again, we're hoping it's not the valve body. Maybe it's like just some, I don't know, some electronics and wiring or something that just needs to be redone to help it, you know, not shift crazy like it's been doing. Again, it's his car when it drives like it's supposed to. It still drives really, really good for a car that has 227,000 miles and is 16 years old.

[00:02:22] So it's gotten him around for, you know, the last two years. And other than the transmission acting funky, we've had minimal problems with it. I mean, we've replaced one of the axles. We replaced the AC discharge hose. We replaced all of the spark plugs. We need to do the ignition coils at some point. But man, those things are expensive.

[00:02:45] So, you know, it's kind of hard to justify dropping a bunch of money in this car. But again, you know, we don't have a car payment and it's not like I'm dropping money on it every month. So and again, it's a good car. It's a 3.6 R. So it's got a really good engine. And again, it's it's done really well for the miles and for the age. But so that's what's going on with that.
