Chris joins us on this bonus episode to talk about Subie Events, how to be a vendor and what it’s like to have a booth, and talks about his business RevMatch Clothing.

[00:00:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Hey, this is Chris and you can find me on Instagram at cwallst25 or revmatchclothingco.
[00:00:17] [SPEAKER_01]: You're listening to a bonus episode of the Subie and You podcast.
[00:00:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Hello everybody, welcome to a bonus episode of the Subie and You podcast.
[00:00:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Chris reached out to me and asked if he could come on here and record to talk about Subie
[00:00:30] [SPEAKER_02]: events and setting up at Subie events as a vendor and also talk about his company
[00:00:36] [SPEAKER_02]: and his brand RevMatch Clothing.
[00:00:38] [SPEAKER_02]: So that's what this is today.
[00:00:41] [SPEAKER_02]: So because it's a bonus episode, there are no ads or any extra stuff really.
[00:00:47] [SPEAKER_02]: So I'll keep this intro short and we can get into the conversation with Chris and
[00:00:53] [SPEAKER_02]: talk about Subie events, RevMatch Clothing, and just some other things all Subie related.
[00:01:00] [SPEAKER_02]: So let's go ahead and get into this conversation.
[00:01:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Hey Chris, how's it going?
[00:01:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Hey, what's up?
[00:01:19] [SPEAKER_02]: So nice to have you back on.
[00:01:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Before we started recording, I think you said it had been about two years because
[00:01:24] [SPEAKER_02]: I think we did this about two years ago because I know we didn't do it last year.
[00:01:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Gosh yeah, you're right.
[00:01:30] [SPEAKER_01]: It has been two years.
[00:01:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:01:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Time flies.
[00:01:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:01:34] [SPEAKER_01]: So how have you been?
[00:01:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Been really good.
[00:01:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's been a hot busy summer.
[00:01:41] [SPEAKER_01]: I just came back from Boxer Fest and that was a blast.
[00:01:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Actually the weather wasn't that bad.
[00:01:47] [SPEAKER_01]: We were expecting rain and it just kind of missed us, but we definitely got pummeled with
[00:01:53] [SPEAKER_01]: the heat.
[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_02]: I saw that people were...
[00:01:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Somebody was telling me, I can't remember who it was, they were like, I may or
[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_02]: may not go depending on the weather because they said they were supposed to get hit
[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_02]: with some pretty bad rain potentially.
[00:02:07] [SPEAKER_02]: So it's good that it held off.
[00:02:09] [SPEAKER_01]: That was a lot of people, but honestly the ticket sales looked pretty great.
[00:02:13] [SPEAKER_01]: There was a huge crowd.
[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_01]: People were having a lot of fun and yeah, I was looking at the weather even though I
[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_01]: try not to because I think that's...
[00:02:24] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't believe in bad luck.
[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, the day before it said it might rain around four or five.
[00:02:32] [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, oh, that's fine.
[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_01]: It's around quitting time anyways.
[00:02:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Then throughout the day it just said it was all gone and we had a little overcast,
[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_01]: but you could feel that humidity.
[00:02:42] [SPEAKER_01]: You don't have it a lot out there, but on the East Coast it's bad.
[00:02:47] [SPEAKER_01]: It just pummels you.
[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh no, it gets really humid in Houston.
[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah.
[00:02:53] [SPEAKER_02]: There's been times where I will walk outside and I just instantly start sweating.
[00:02:58] [SPEAKER_02]: I can always tell when it's humid and when it's not because the walk from my
[00:03:05] [SPEAKER_02]: apartment to my car is probably...
[00:03:07] [SPEAKER_02]: It's just a few minutes, less than five minutes.
[00:03:10] [SPEAKER_02]: By the time I get to my car, I can definitely tell that it's either humid or it's not humid.
[00:03:17] [SPEAKER_01]: That's never fun.
[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_01]: When you get in your car, you're already sticky.
[00:03:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:03:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Lately I've been wearing dry fit shirts as much as possible when I go out because
[00:03:27] [SPEAKER_02]: it's like, I don't want to wear a cotton shirt and then get all sweaty and then
[00:03:32] [SPEAKER_02]: have it sticking to me and stuff.
[00:03:34] [SPEAKER_02]: So dry fit shirts been the way to go.
[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:03:37] [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, so you got three SUB events down, got a few more to go.
[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_02]: So how did you get started with SUB events to begin with?
[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so a couple of years ago I was offered a position to help with sponsorship,
[00:03:53] [SPEAKER_01]: coordination for SUB events.
[00:03:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Last year they brought me back on and this year as well.
[00:04:03] [SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, so I'm basically doing just behind the scenes stuff right now,
[00:04:08] [SPEAKER_01]: helping vendors get set up as far as coming to these events and
[00:04:14] [SPEAKER_01]: answering whether they're simple questions or difficult questions.
[00:04:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Basically just making the process easier for wondering what it's like at setting
[00:04:23] [SPEAKER_01]: up these events to actually come to these events and being like, Chris,
[00:04:26] [SPEAKER_01]: that was awesome.
[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_01]: We had the best time.
[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_01]: We made some cool connections.
[00:04:30] [SPEAKER_01]: We met customers that we've already had.
[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_01]: We earned new customers and Wicked Big Meat was awesome as it always is.
[00:04:38] [SPEAKER_01]: SUB Fest California, we actually sold out of vendor spots probably about two,
[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_01]: maybe even three weeks before the event.
[00:04:46] [SPEAKER_01]: That's good.
[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_01]: And I heard I didn't go to that event in person, but I've heard nothing but
[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_01]: good things other than it being hot.
[00:04:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:04:55] [SPEAKER_01]: California plus middle of summer equals super hot.
[00:04:58] [SPEAKER_01]: And then Boxer Fest.
[00:05:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Boxer Fest is kind of like my hometown event.
[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_01]: It's only about three hours from me and I've been going since the beginning
[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_01]: and it was great.
[00:05:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Boxer Fest is one of my favorite shows.
[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_01]: It's got a great layout and a lot of cool vendors and a lot of cool
[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_01]: people.
[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_01]: It's a lot of fun.
[00:05:18] [SPEAKER_01]: And I set up with my company, Redmash Clothing Company,
[00:05:21] [SPEAKER_01]: and I've been setting up for two years now.
[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_01]: I went last year and I sold just about everything I had.
[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_01]: I came home with like two, three, three extra large shirts and that's it.
[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_01]: And this year I brought a little more.
[00:05:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Sold a lot of shirts, met a lot of cool people.
[00:05:37] [SPEAKER_01]: It's cool coming to these events, setting up for maybe like two or three
[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_01]: years and then seeing people walk by that bought your shirt last year.
[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Or like, you know, maybe somebody that I sponsor or somebody that I
[00:05:52] [SPEAKER_01]: know has bought a lot of stuff for me.
[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I'll see him walk by.
[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, I'm going to go to the booth and I'll kind of wait for him to come
[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I'll kind of wait that he whether they come to the booth or come back to
[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_01]: the booth and see what we have to offer.
[00:06:00] [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, it's cool walking around.
[00:06:03] [SPEAKER_01]: And at one point before the show started, I left the booth to go say
[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_01]: hi to a few vendor friends.
[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_01]: And I saw people wearing the shirt.
[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_01]: And of course, they don't know my face or know that I'm the owner.
[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm wearing a red shirt.
[00:06:16] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just like, hey, nice shirt.
[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Thanks.
[00:06:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:06:19] [SPEAKER_01]: It's a cool company.
[00:06:20] [SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, oh, cool.
[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm glad you think so.
[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_01]: It's my company.
[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_01]: They're like, oh, yeah, they come by the booth and check things out.
[00:06:28] [SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, Boxer Fest was was great.
[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_01]: I would recommend anybody in the Mid-Atlantic to to check it out
[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_01]: next year.
[00:06:35] [SPEAKER_01]: It's one of my favorite events.
[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_01]: And then we have Midwest happening a couple weeks in the Chicago area.
[00:06:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:06:41] [SPEAKER_02]: So are you is Boxer Fest the only one that you set up with or set
[00:06:47] [SPEAKER_02]: up at with rev match clothing?
[00:06:49] [SPEAKER_01]: So far, yes.
[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Just because it's so close for me.
[00:06:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, makes sense.
[00:06:54] [SPEAKER_01]: In the future, I think I would go to California just because it's one of
[00:07:00] [SPEAKER_01]: the largest events.
[00:07:02] [SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, it's California, man, right outside Los Angeles.
[00:07:06] [SPEAKER_01]: I've got a lot of friends out there and I have only been to
[00:07:10] [SPEAKER_01]: California once.
[00:07:11] [SPEAKER_01]: And it was when I was working to be events and I didn't really get a
[00:07:13] [SPEAKER_01]: chance to check out the area or explore or hang out with friends.
[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_01]: So what I would probably do is I would probably ship my stuff out to
[00:07:22] [SPEAKER_01]: somebody that I know and trust in California and then maybe fly out
[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_01]: there and run the run the booth.
[00:07:29] [SPEAKER_01]: So hopefully I can do this California next year, but it all depends on
[00:07:34] [SPEAKER_01]: where the date lies.
[00:07:35] [SPEAKER_01]: And we have like no say in that.
[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Really?
[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's all it's all about the venue.
[00:07:40] [SPEAKER_01]: So the venues back to back Boxer Fest or if it's a bad time of year
[00:07:44] [SPEAKER_01]: and our area is on plan.
[00:07:45] [SPEAKER_01]: So I would love to do it.
[00:07:47] [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, Boxer Fest is so far the only one that actually set up that.
[00:07:50] [SPEAKER_01]: But I've gone to all the events except for Texas because Texas was new
[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_01]: to last year and I didn't travel to any of them last year, which
[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_01]: is a bummer because I wanted to come to come see you.
[00:07:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Are you coming to Texas this year?
[00:08:02] [SPEAKER_01]: No, I don't.
[00:08:02] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think so.
[00:08:04] [SPEAKER_01]: No, I mean, I would if they if they flew me out there, but if
[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_01]: not, maybe next year because I definitely want to check it out.
[00:08:10] [SPEAKER_01]: I heard a lot of positive feedback from vendors and attendees for Texas
[00:08:15] [SPEAKER_01]: last year.
[00:08:16] [SPEAKER_01]: It was good.
[00:08:17] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Texas has been one that's to come down there for years.
[00:08:21] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, they're so far away from everywhere.
[00:08:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
[00:08:24] [SPEAKER_02]: That's what's tough about being here because being in Texas, you
[00:08:29] [SPEAKER_02]: know, you've got the East Coast and the West Coast and you've got
[00:08:31] [SPEAKER_02]: all these beautiful spots.
[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_02]: And again, as I mentioned before we started recording, Texas is
[00:08:37] [SPEAKER_02]: beautiful.
[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot of really beautiful spots.
[00:08:40] [SPEAKER_02]: And when you go out West, it's hilly but there's really no
[00:08:43] [SPEAKER_02]: mountains.
[00:08:44] [SPEAKER_02]: But like in order to get to what I would consider to be like
[00:08:48] [SPEAKER_02]: some really epic spots to go hit some trails or just visit.
[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's so far away.
[00:08:54] [SPEAKER_02]: And as we were mentioning earlier, when I drove out to
[00:08:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Colorado for my first off road experience, which was awesome
[00:09:01] [SPEAKER_02]: right after I bought Pearl, we drove for like nine hours and
[00:09:06] [SPEAKER_02]: we were still in Texas.
[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's crazy.
[00:09:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
[00:09:10] [SPEAKER_01]: That is that I can't even like fathom that.
[00:09:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Like if I drive nine hours, I go from Virginia to
[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Connecticut.
[00:09:16] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I drive.
[00:09:17] [SPEAKER_01]: That's that's like six states away.
[00:09:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah.
[00:09:21] [SPEAKER_02]: So what all is involved?
[00:09:23] [SPEAKER_02]: So you talked a little bit about, you know, setting or
[00:09:27] [SPEAKER_02]: getting sponsors and vendors and kind of coordinating that.
[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_02]: So what's it like to set up, you know, either your
[00:09:35] [SPEAKER_02]: brand or for any vendor to set up at one of the events?
[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Like what all does that involve aside from buying a
[00:09:42] [SPEAKER_02]: vendor spot?
[00:09:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:09:44] [SPEAKER_01]: So I mean, one of the coolest things about having done
[00:09:50] [SPEAKER_01]: having set up an event is I have like real world
[00:09:53] [SPEAKER_01]: experience, you know, so I can tell vendors kind of
[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_01]: like what to expect, what not to expect, the benefits
[00:09:59] [SPEAKER_01]: of going and things like that.
[00:10:01] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's really been been cool to add that to my
[00:10:05] [SPEAKER_01]: repertoire and be like, hey, yeah, this is what I
[00:10:08] [SPEAKER_01]: recommended this event and that event.
[00:10:10] [SPEAKER_01]: And people really like believe that and trust me.
[00:10:13] [SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, it's awesome setting up with these events
[00:10:16] [SPEAKER_01]: and like actually and I've heard this feedback from
[00:10:19] [SPEAKER_01]: multiple vendors, Cobb, IEG, you know, Killer B.
[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_01]: When you go out to these events, some vendors are
[00:10:28] [SPEAKER_01]: skeptical because they're like, oh, I'm already busy.
[00:10:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Like I can't really have new business or whatever.
[00:10:32] [SPEAKER_01]: But when you go out there and you show off what you
[00:10:35] [SPEAKER_01]: do in front of people that have either purchased
[00:10:38] [SPEAKER_01]: things from you before, or maybe they've gotten
[00:10:40] [SPEAKER_01]: their vehicle tuned at your shop before, or maybe
[00:10:43] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, you earn some new customers.
[00:10:45] [SPEAKER_01]: You get to be like that face in front of people.
[00:10:48] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's really the most exciting part about
[00:10:50] [SPEAKER_01]: going to these events.
[00:10:51] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you could probably say that's true for
[00:10:54] [SPEAKER_01]: you too, going out to these events and going to
[00:10:56] [SPEAKER_01]: these vendors and be like, hey, like I've got
[00:10:58] [SPEAKER_01]: your light bar on my car.
[00:10:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I've got your roof rack on my car, you know,
[00:11:02] [SPEAKER_01]: whatever it is, it's vendors appreciate that.
[00:11:05] [SPEAKER_01]: And they see that, you know, their hard work
[00:11:09] [SPEAKER_01]: is paying off and just being able to like put
[00:11:13] [SPEAKER_01]: that face to like, oh yeah, I'm John.
[00:11:16] [SPEAKER_01]: I talk to you in customer service or whatever.
[00:11:20] [SPEAKER_01]: It's just need to have that.
[00:11:22] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's no different for me.
[00:11:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Like when I set up with Redmatch, you know,
[00:11:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I get Instagram messages like, hey, I'll see you
[00:11:28] [SPEAKER_01]: there. I'll see you there.
[00:11:29] [SPEAKER_01]: I'll see you there.
[00:11:29] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, like what are you bringing?
[00:11:31] [SPEAKER_01]: And then you get there and you get to meet
[00:11:33] [SPEAKER_01]: the people and see their car in person,
[00:11:36] [SPEAKER_01]: see them in person and just build that
[00:11:39] [SPEAKER_01]: connection.
[00:11:39] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's really huge.
[00:11:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Like if a company or vendor is like thinking
[00:11:43] [SPEAKER_01]: about setting up, but they're just like,
[00:11:46] [SPEAKER_01]: maybe they're too busy or they've gone before
[00:11:50] [SPEAKER_01]: and, you know, I mean, if they've gone
[00:11:52] [SPEAKER_01]: before, the attendees basically expect you to
[00:11:55] [SPEAKER_01]: be there.
[00:11:56] [SPEAKER_01]: And then they're like, hey, why didn't you
[00:11:58] [SPEAKER_01]: know?
[00:11:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Why isn't this?
[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Why didn't this company show up this time?
[00:12:02] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's one reason why like Cobb and
[00:12:05] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, Subi Speed and companies like that,
[00:12:08] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, Subi Mods come like almost every
[00:12:10] [SPEAKER_01]: year because, you know, it's like a
[00:12:13] [SPEAKER_01]: reunion, really.
[00:12:14] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's like a community reunion of
[00:12:17] [SPEAKER_01]: super enthusiasts.
[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_01]: That's really what the name should be.
[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because that's what it is.
[00:12:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Like you get to see those people year after
[00:12:25] [SPEAKER_01]: year and like see the growth in their car.
[00:12:27] [SPEAKER_01]: They can see the growth in your company.
[00:12:29] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's just it's incredible, really.
[00:12:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, and there's always new people
[00:12:33] [SPEAKER_02]: coming to the Subi events because you have
[00:12:36] [SPEAKER_02]: new people coming into the community that may
[00:12:39] [SPEAKER_02]: have bought a Subaru between the time that
[00:12:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Subi events was going on the previous year.
[00:12:46] [SPEAKER_02]: And then they buy a Subaru.
[00:12:49] [SPEAKER_02]: They get passionate about it.
[00:12:51] [SPEAKER_02]: They find out about the community if they
[00:12:52] [SPEAKER_02]: didn't already know about it and then find
[00:12:55] [SPEAKER_02]: out that because like not everybody knows
[00:12:57] [SPEAKER_02]: that there are, you know, Subi events going
[00:12:59] [SPEAKER_02]: on.
[00:12:59] [SPEAKER_02]: And so it gives these new people in the
[00:13:03] [SPEAKER_02]: community a chance to connect with these
[00:13:05] [SPEAKER_02]: vendors and with other people.
[00:13:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, that's 100 percent true.
[00:13:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Like there's there's so many people that
[00:13:13] [SPEAKER_01]: have come up to my booth and be like,
[00:13:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I just bought my first Subaru or,
[00:13:17] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, I'll ask them because I don't
[00:13:18] [SPEAKER_01]: sell Subaru products, but I sell Subaru
[00:13:21] [SPEAKER_01]: inspired merchandise.
[00:13:23] [SPEAKER_01]: So I'll talk to him.
[00:13:24] [SPEAKER_01]: You're like, what kind of Subaru do you have?
[00:13:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you know, I just bought a and it's so
[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_01]: weird what people come up with.
[00:13:28] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I just bought a, you know,
[00:13:30] [SPEAKER_01]: a brat or a Baja, you know, never liked
[00:13:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Subarus before, but I thought it was
[00:13:34] [SPEAKER_01]: cool.
[00:13:35] [SPEAKER_01]: And then I followed Subi Fest and then I
[00:13:37] [SPEAKER_01]: saw, you know, the end of it.
[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_01]: And then I came.
[00:13:39] [SPEAKER_01]: It's just like you get to see that.
[00:13:41] [SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, like you said, there's a lot
[00:13:44] [SPEAKER_01]: of repeat people because I mean, you've been
[00:13:47] [SPEAKER_01]: to these events, you know, it's just like
[00:13:49] [SPEAKER_01]: a thing to look forward to every year.
[00:13:50] [SPEAKER_01]: If you're a Subaru person, but
[00:13:52] [SPEAKER_01]: at the same time, like you are getting
[00:13:54] [SPEAKER_01]: like that new customer, new business.
[00:13:56] [SPEAKER_01]: So as a vendor or a
[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_01]: shop, like not only will you see
[00:14:00] [SPEAKER_01]: people that you've like maybe you built
[00:14:02] [SPEAKER_01]: their engine or maybe you have like an
[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_01]: appointment coming up, but you can also talk
[00:14:06] [SPEAKER_01]: to new people walking by and it's like,
[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_01]: hey, how do I get like to
[00:14:10] [SPEAKER_01]: 300 horsepower with like
[00:14:12] [SPEAKER_01]: the minimum amount of money
[00:14:14] [SPEAKER_01]: or whatever? And they'll be like, yeah, come over here.
[00:14:16] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, look at this, look at this.
[00:14:17] [SPEAKER_01]: And then let's talk about this tune and
[00:14:20] [SPEAKER_01]: you know what your plans are for your car.
[00:14:22] [SPEAKER_01]: It's just so cool to build that connection,
[00:14:24] [SPEAKER_01]: whether it's somebody
[00:14:25] [SPEAKER_01]: existing or new
[00:14:27] [SPEAKER_01]: or has no clue at all.
[00:14:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. So like
[00:14:32] [SPEAKER_02]: what makes going to
[00:14:34] [SPEAKER_02]: a Subi event different from
[00:14:36] [SPEAKER_02]: any other events or
[00:14:38] [SPEAKER_02]: shows? Because I know that
[00:14:40] [SPEAKER_02]: like obviously Subi Fest events
[00:14:42] [SPEAKER_02]: are really big and
[00:14:43] [SPEAKER_02]: I haven't really been to any other shows.
[00:14:46] [SPEAKER_02]: So like I don't really know what that's like.
[00:14:48] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't have a comparison. The only other
[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_02]: show I've been to is
[00:14:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Subaru Flat Fest up in
[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Madison, Wisconsin. And it's a pretty big
[00:14:56] [SPEAKER_02]: show and it's a pretty good, you know,
[00:14:58] [SPEAKER_02]: turnout and everything. But you know,
[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_02]: so how does like being a vendor
[00:15:02] [SPEAKER_02]: at one of these shows differ from
[00:15:04] [SPEAKER_02]: any other shows?
[00:15:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. So a couple
[00:15:08] [SPEAKER_01]: things about that. I mean, I've gone,
[00:15:10] [SPEAKER_01]: I've set up and gone to shows
[00:15:11] [SPEAKER_01]: a lot in Virginia, a lot of tuner shows.
[00:15:14] [SPEAKER_01]: So like Tuner Revolution,
[00:15:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Clean Edition, Slammed
[00:15:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Enough and
[00:15:21] [SPEAKER_01]: and really just overall like
[00:15:23] [SPEAKER_01]: car enthusiast shows. I've set up
[00:15:25] [SPEAKER_01]: those shows and they're nice and everything.
[00:15:28] [SPEAKER_01]: The problem
[00:15:30] [SPEAKER_01]: with what to
[00:15:31] [SPEAKER_01]: bring is that like you have no idea who's going to
[00:15:33] [SPEAKER_01]: come up to your booth. You don't know if they're going to have
[00:15:35] [SPEAKER_01]: like a 99 Ford Ranger
[00:15:37] [SPEAKER_01]: or like a 2013 GTR.
[00:15:40] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, you never know.
[00:15:41] [SPEAKER_01]: So you just bring like a blanket
[00:15:43] [SPEAKER_01]: like, you know,
[00:15:46] [SPEAKER_01]: car enthusiast, you know,
[00:15:48] [SPEAKER_01]: repertoire basically.
[00:15:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Or you just pick like your top
[00:15:52] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, selling items and you bring
[00:15:55] [SPEAKER_01]: but with
[00:15:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Subi events,
[00:15:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Subaru people are coming. So like
[00:15:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I bring all my
[00:16:01] [SPEAKER_01]: clothes that are Subaru inspired
[00:16:04] [SPEAKER_01]: or and maybe a couple like generic things
[00:16:06] [SPEAKER_01]: that are top seller. And if
[00:16:08] [SPEAKER_01]: a company sells multiple products
[00:16:10] [SPEAKER_01]: like Dress-Up Bolts, for instance.
[00:16:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Dress-Up Bolts makes
[00:16:14] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, engine dress-up
[00:16:17] [SPEAKER_01]: hardware for
[00:16:18] [SPEAKER_01]: just about every application.
[00:16:20] [SPEAKER_01]: But when they come to like
[00:16:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Boxer Fest, for instance, they'll just bring
[00:16:24] [SPEAKER_01]: their Subaru stuff. So they
[00:16:26] [SPEAKER_01]: so they know like I'm not
[00:16:28] [SPEAKER_01]: going to bring my Super stuff. I'm not going to bring my
[00:16:31] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, Audi S3 stuff.
[00:16:33] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just going to bring my Subaru
[00:16:34] [SPEAKER_01]: specific stuff and
[00:16:36] [SPEAKER_01]: that's it. You don't have to go home with a bunch of stuff.
[00:16:38] [SPEAKER_01]: You don't have to lug a bunch of stuff that you
[00:16:40] [SPEAKER_01]: don't sell. And odds are you'll
[00:16:43] [SPEAKER_01]: sell out of what you bring
[00:16:46] [SPEAKER_01]: because
[00:16:46] [SPEAKER_01]: people come to these events to buy.
[00:16:48] [SPEAKER_01]: That's what they do. You know, I know so
[00:16:50] [SPEAKER_01]: many people that save up money and they're like, I'm going to wait
[00:16:52] [SPEAKER_01]: till I get a good deal at Boxer Fest.
[00:16:54] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, like on an access
[00:16:56] [SPEAKER_01]: port or a turbo or wheels
[00:16:58] [SPEAKER_01]: or something like that. So the
[00:17:01] [SPEAKER_01]: that's one of the things that
[00:17:03] [SPEAKER_01]: that sets Subi events
[00:17:05] [SPEAKER_01]: off from setting
[00:17:06] [SPEAKER_01]: up at other events is just
[00:17:08] [SPEAKER_01]: knowing that you can bring certain things
[00:17:11] [SPEAKER_01]: and sell a lot of them
[00:17:12] [SPEAKER_01]: and not come home with a lot because
[00:17:14] [SPEAKER_01]: I've been on that side of
[00:17:16] [SPEAKER_01]: where you just come home with
[00:17:19] [SPEAKER_01]: duffel bags of shirts. And I'm like
[00:17:21] [SPEAKER_01]: man, like this is kind of a
[00:17:22] [SPEAKER_01]: bummer. I wish I would have just sold everything.
[00:17:24] [SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean? But if you
[00:17:27] [SPEAKER_01]: show up with all your Subaru
[00:17:28] [SPEAKER_01]: hardware or all your Subaru wheels
[00:17:31] [SPEAKER_01]: like your you know your 5x100
[00:17:32] [SPEAKER_01]: and 5x114.3 wheels
[00:17:34] [SPEAKER_01]: that's all you got to bring. You don't have to bring
[00:17:37] [SPEAKER_01]: you know 100 different bolt patterns
[00:17:40] [SPEAKER_01]: and offsets. Yeah, it really
[00:17:42] [SPEAKER_01]: simplifies it for the vendor.
[00:17:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it really just hones in like
[00:17:46] [SPEAKER_01]: what you can bring and
[00:17:47] [SPEAKER_01]: what you need to specialize in and
[00:17:51] [SPEAKER_01]: basically
[00:17:51] [SPEAKER_01]: hone in on.
[00:17:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Now what separates the
[00:17:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Subi events as
[00:17:57] [SPEAKER_01]: a whole for just like setting
[00:17:59] [SPEAKER_01]: up at other events
[00:18:01] [SPEAKER_01]: besides selling Subaru
[00:18:03] [SPEAKER_01]: events are the Subi events
[00:18:05] [SPEAKER_01]: are just so easy
[00:18:08] [SPEAKER_01]: and user friendly
[00:18:10] [SPEAKER_01]: to not only
[00:18:11] [SPEAKER_01]: attend but to register as a
[00:18:13] [SPEAKER_01]: vendor. When you sign up as a vendor
[00:18:17] [SPEAKER_01]: everything's like
[00:18:18] [SPEAKER_01]: listed out for you. You have your own dashboard
[00:18:20] [SPEAKER_01]: which you know
[00:18:21] [SPEAKER_01]: if you've attended a
[00:18:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Subaru event before or
[00:18:25] [SPEAKER_01]: purchased a ticket you know what a dashboard
[00:18:27] [SPEAKER_01]: kind of looks like. Yeah.
[00:18:29] [SPEAKER_01]: So you have your own dashboard. It tells you what you
[00:18:31] [SPEAKER_01]: need. You know it asks questions
[00:18:33] [SPEAKER_01]: for you basically sets it all up.
[00:18:35] [SPEAKER_01]: It gives you a space
[00:18:37] [SPEAKER_01]: on the website for your company to be advertised
[00:18:41] [SPEAKER_01]: and where
[00:18:42] [SPEAKER_01]: attendees or customers
[00:18:44] [SPEAKER_01]: can go on the website buy
[00:18:46] [SPEAKER_01]: tickets and they can click sponsors and then
[00:18:48] [SPEAKER_01]: scroll down. Oh cool this company looks cool.
[00:18:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Click the picture and they go straight to your
[00:18:51] [SPEAKER_01]: website and they get shopped right there.
[00:18:53] [SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of crazy. Nobody
[00:18:55] [SPEAKER_01]: nobody that I've ever like no
[00:18:57] [SPEAKER_01]: company that I've ever sponsored
[00:19:00] [SPEAKER_01]: or vended at does
[00:19:02] [SPEAKER_01]: something like that. Like Subaru
[00:19:03] [SPEAKER_01]: events actually cares about
[00:19:05] [SPEAKER_01]: the value
[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_01]: that they bring to the table
[00:19:10] [SPEAKER_01]: when vendors register.
[00:19:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Like it's just it's so
[00:19:14] [SPEAKER_01]: user friendly and easy and if a
[00:19:16] [SPEAKER_01]: vendor has questions like me or brick
[00:19:18] [SPEAKER_01]: or Vic or somebody is going
[00:19:20] [SPEAKER_01]: to be able to answer that question
[00:19:22] [SPEAKER_01]: like really quick
[00:19:24] [SPEAKER_01]: and it's just
[00:19:25] [SPEAKER_01]: user friendly. I've gone to other events
[00:19:28] [SPEAKER_01]: where I'm like asking questions
[00:19:30] [SPEAKER_01]: or sending an email and I never get a response.
[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just like OK well I'll just wait till the day
[00:19:34] [SPEAKER_01]: of I guess and I just show up
[00:19:36] [SPEAKER_01]: and like I don't know anything and then they're just
[00:19:38] [SPEAKER_01]: like fumbling and they don't know where I'm
[00:19:40] [SPEAKER_01]: supposed to be and then I finally
[00:19:42] [SPEAKER_01]: figure it out and then like nobody
[00:19:44] [SPEAKER_01]: stops by the booth to like check on me.
[00:19:46] [SPEAKER_01]: That's not how it is at
[00:19:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Subaru events. Like if you're
[00:19:50] [SPEAKER_01]: if you're a retailer
[00:19:52] [SPEAKER_01]: or a shop owner or something like that
[00:19:55] [SPEAKER_01]: and you want to give it
[00:19:56] [SPEAKER_01]: a try just reach out
[00:19:58] [SPEAKER_01]: it's super easy.
[00:19:59] [SPEAKER_01]: We take care of basically everything
[00:20:02] [SPEAKER_01]: for you and we just
[00:20:04] [SPEAKER_01]: give you a platform
[00:20:06] [SPEAKER_01]: basically to come in
[00:20:08] [SPEAKER_01]: and showcase what you do or
[00:20:10] [SPEAKER_01]: showcase your product and
[00:20:12] [SPEAKER_01]: you could show off you know
[00:20:14] [SPEAKER_01]: your merch, you could show off
[00:20:16] [SPEAKER_01]: you know your services
[00:20:18] [SPEAKER_01]: things like that. It's just
[00:20:20] [SPEAKER_01]: an overall better
[00:20:22] [SPEAKER_01]: experience setting up
[00:20:24] [SPEAKER_01]: at a Subaru event than it is setting
[00:20:26] [SPEAKER_01]: up at basically any other event I've registered
[00:20:28] [SPEAKER_02]: for. Yeah it's good to know.
[00:20:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Especially like you said the user experience
[00:20:32] [SPEAKER_02]: is much better especially for
[00:20:35] [SPEAKER_02]: vendors that want to come
[00:20:36] [SPEAKER_02]: to the event and
[00:20:38] [SPEAKER_02]: you know set up and
[00:20:39] [SPEAKER_02]: if you simplify or if you make the process
[00:20:42] [SPEAKER_02]: a good process then
[00:20:44] [SPEAKER_02]: they're going to want and they're a first
[00:20:46] [SPEAKER_02]: time vendor then they're going to want to come
[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_02]: back for repeat years
[00:20:50] [SPEAKER_02]: and if they have a good experience with the
[00:20:52] [SPEAKER_02]: whole process then it's
[00:20:55] [SPEAKER_02]: definitely sells
[00:20:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Subi events to them in a good way.
[00:20:59] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes 100%.
[00:21:00] [SPEAKER_02]: So if a vendor is interested
[00:21:02] [SPEAKER_02]: in becoming
[00:21:04] [SPEAKER_02]: a vendor like
[00:21:06] [SPEAKER_02]: how do they go about actually signing
[00:21:08] [SPEAKER_02]: up because you talked a little bit about you know
[00:21:10] [SPEAKER_02]: what it looks like on the website and everything
[00:21:12] [SPEAKER_02]: but if they're interested what's
[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_02]: their first step?
[00:21:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah of course so
[00:21:18] [SPEAKER_01]: obviously depends on where you are. So let's say
[00:21:20] [SPEAKER_01]: somebody is in Wisconsin
[00:21:21] [SPEAKER_01]: right because we have Chicago coming up and
[00:21:24] [SPEAKER_01]: you know that's the surrounding state.
[00:21:26] [SPEAKER_01]: So if you just go to
[00:21:27] [SPEAKER_01]: if you even type in SubiFest
[00:21:31] [SPEAKER_01]: into
[00:21:31] [SPEAKER_01]: like a Google search bar
[00:21:33] [SPEAKER_01]: then you can just click the first link
[00:21:35] [SPEAKER_01]: that comes up and it'll take you to
[00:21:38] [SPEAKER_01]: even if it's
[00:21:39] [SPEAKER_01]: the wrong
[00:21:42] [SPEAKER_01]: venue even if it's California or
[00:21:43] [SPEAKER_01]: something like that just go up top and click
[00:21:46] [SPEAKER_01]: SubiFest Midwest
[00:21:48] [SPEAKER_01]: or whichever one it is
[00:21:49] [SPEAKER_01]: and then you can basically explore
[00:21:52] [SPEAKER_01]: everything up top.
[00:21:54] [SPEAKER_01]: You got your tickets, autocross,
[00:21:55] [SPEAKER_01]: car show and then if you hover
[00:21:57] [SPEAKER_01]: over sponsors you can click become a sponsor
[00:21:59] [SPEAKER_01]: and that's what gives you all the information
[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_01]: you need. It's got the pricing table
[00:22:04] [SPEAKER_01]: it shows you what sponsors
[00:22:06] [SPEAKER_01]: have been to that event before
[00:22:09] [SPEAKER_01]: it also
[00:22:11] [SPEAKER_01]: shows you
[00:22:12] [SPEAKER_01]: how many attendees
[00:22:13] [SPEAKER_01]: have been there like in the past
[00:22:15] [SPEAKER_01]: what year you know the event
[00:22:17] [SPEAKER_01]: was founded but
[00:22:19] [SPEAKER_01]: the main thing is you can
[00:22:21] [SPEAKER_01]: also
[00:22:23] [SPEAKER_01]: just reach out to us under
[00:22:25] [SPEAKER_01]: under the table there's
[00:22:27] [SPEAKER_01]: a few paragraphs and you can just
[00:22:30] [SPEAKER_01]: click the sponsors of SubiFest
[00:22:32] [SPEAKER_01]: and then email in
[00:22:33] [SPEAKER_01]: you know hey I'm Bob
[00:22:35] [SPEAKER_01]: with Bob Subies
[00:22:37] [SPEAKER_01]: you know I tune Subarus
[00:22:39] [SPEAKER_01]: in the Wisconsin area I want to know more about
[00:22:42] [SPEAKER_01]: you know
[00:22:43] [SPEAKER_01]: not just the pricing but more information
[00:22:45] [SPEAKER_01]: about the event and somebody will get back
[00:22:47] [SPEAKER_01]: to you pretty quickly
[00:22:49] [SPEAKER_01]: and help you out. It's
[00:22:52] [SPEAKER_01]: super easy a lot easier
[00:22:53] [SPEAKER_01]: than most people think. So is there
[00:22:55] [SPEAKER_02]: a difference between like as you said you click
[00:22:57] [SPEAKER_02]: on the sponsors if you're a vendor
[00:22:59] [SPEAKER_02]: are you also a sponsor?
[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah so that has
[00:23:03] [SPEAKER_01]: been confusing for people in the past but
[00:23:06] [SPEAKER_01]: the table will say
[00:23:07] [SPEAKER_01]: sponsors and vendors. There are
[00:23:10] [SPEAKER_01]: attending sponsorships and then
[00:23:11] [SPEAKER_01]: there's non-attending sponsorships
[00:23:13] [SPEAKER_01]: so like a t-shirt so if you can
[00:23:15] [SPEAKER_01]: if you want to participate
[00:23:17] [SPEAKER_01]: but you can't attend maybe you have
[00:23:19] [SPEAKER_01]: a wedding to go to that weekend or something
[00:23:21] [SPEAKER_01]: and you can always sign up for the t-shirt
[00:23:23] [SPEAKER_01]: sponsorship or the official supporter
[00:23:25] [SPEAKER_01]: the official supporters basically all
[00:23:27] [SPEAKER_01]: the perks of every other sponsorship
[00:23:29] [SPEAKER_01]: but it's a non-attending so you don't
[00:23:31] [SPEAKER_01]: have like a tent space basically
[00:23:33] [SPEAKER_01]: but yeah there's four tiers
[00:23:36] [SPEAKER_01]: of attending
[00:23:38] [SPEAKER_01]: sponsorships so you have like the
[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_01]: vendor spot which is the
[00:23:41] [SPEAKER_01]: starting tier basically then you have an
[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_01]: associate spot which is the next tier up
[00:23:46] [SPEAKER_01]: with a few more perks and the next
[00:23:48] [SPEAKER_01]: tier is official sponsor a few more perks
[00:23:50] [SPEAKER_01]: and official partner a few more
[00:23:51] [SPEAKER_01]: perks. There's so many perks to
[00:23:54] [SPEAKER_01]: mention that it's just easier for
[00:23:55] [SPEAKER_01]: someone to look at the table and
[00:23:57] [SPEAKER_01]: visualize it all. Yeah. But
[00:24:00] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah that is the
[00:24:03] [SPEAKER_01]: that's basically the breakdown of
[00:24:05] [SPEAKER_01]: the different tiers for the sponsorships.
[00:24:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay. Is there are we
[00:24:10] [SPEAKER_02]: not having been to any
[00:24:12] [SPEAKER_02]: of the events of course are we
[00:24:14] [SPEAKER_02]: seeing anything different
[00:24:16] [SPEAKER_02]: with this round of Subi events
[00:24:18] [SPEAKER_02]: than we have in previous years or is
[00:24:20] [SPEAKER_02]: it pretty much all the same? Well
[00:24:24] [SPEAKER_01]: so Subaru throws
[00:24:26] [SPEAKER_01]: in you know something a little different every year
[00:24:28] [SPEAKER_01]: whether it's a new car
[00:24:30] [SPEAKER_01]: that they bring or
[00:24:32] [SPEAKER_01]: someone special that
[00:24:34] [SPEAKER_01]: they bring. I will say Travis
[00:24:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Pastrana has been to more events
[00:24:38] [SPEAKER_01]: this year than he's been in the past so
[00:24:40] [SPEAKER_01]: he could secretly show up in the future
[00:24:43] [SPEAKER_01]: to one of these events. Maybe.
[00:24:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. Bucky has
[00:24:48] [SPEAKER_01]: been you know on tour with every
[00:24:50] [SPEAKER_01]: event so far for the
[00:24:52] [SPEAKER_01]: past three years now
[00:24:55] [SPEAKER_01]: and he's
[00:24:56] [SPEAKER_01]: bringing a couple cool cars
[00:24:58] [SPEAKER_01]: he's bringing his secret weapon
[00:25:00] [SPEAKER_01]: you know the what is it called
[00:25:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Betty? Yeah. Yeah
[00:25:04] [SPEAKER_01]: that thing rips man.
[00:25:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. Yeah it does.
[00:25:07] [SPEAKER_01]: I was when I was
[00:25:09] [SPEAKER_01]: at the Red Match booth in Boxer Fest
[00:25:12] [SPEAKER_01]: and Betty drove through
[00:25:14] [SPEAKER_01]: to go through the autocross paddock
[00:25:16] [SPEAKER_01]: my buddy was helping
[00:25:17] [SPEAKER_01]: me at the tent and he's a huge
[00:25:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Bucky fan. I was like do you want to go watch?
[00:25:22] [SPEAKER_01]: He was like no man I'll just stay here and help
[00:25:23] [SPEAKER_01]: you and then he hears ripping
[00:25:27] [SPEAKER_01]: and then he's like oh man
[00:25:29] [SPEAKER_01]: he's like
[00:25:30] [SPEAKER_01]: standing on his tippy toes like trying to watch
[00:25:31] [SPEAKER_01]: I was like go check it out man
[00:25:33] [SPEAKER_01]: and he actually got a picture Bucky
[00:25:35] [SPEAKER_01]: came to the Red Match booth
[00:25:37] [SPEAKER_01]: and he got a picture
[00:25:39] [SPEAKER_01]: with him
[00:25:41] [SPEAKER_01]: and I got another picture with him I lost my last picture
[00:25:43] [SPEAKER_01]: with him but anyways yeah so you might
[00:25:45] [SPEAKER_01]: see some some surprises
[00:25:48] [SPEAKER_01]: you might see some new vendors
[00:25:50] [SPEAKER_01]: new faces that kind of thing.
[00:25:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay. So how
[00:25:53] [SPEAKER_02]: did how did Rev Match
[00:25:55] [SPEAKER_02]: clothing come about and
[00:25:57] [SPEAKER_02]: how long have you been doing that
[00:25:59] [SPEAKER_02]: and like why did you start it?
[00:26:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Like give us the background on that.
[00:26:04] [SPEAKER_01]: So I was I've been
[00:26:06] [SPEAKER_01]: in the car business for
[00:26:09] [SPEAKER_01]: about
[00:26:10] [SPEAKER_01]: 11 years now and
[00:26:12] [SPEAKER_01]: during COVID I was a
[00:26:14] [SPEAKER_01]: finance manager at a Honda and Nissan
[00:26:16] [SPEAKER_01]: dealership of all places.
[00:26:18] [SPEAKER_01]: I have worked for Subaru
[00:26:19] [SPEAKER_01]: I know I know I have worked
[00:26:22] [SPEAKER_01]: two Subaru dealerships you know and
[00:26:24] [SPEAKER_01]: in my tenure as a you
[00:26:26] [SPEAKER_01]: know car salesperson but
[00:26:28] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah I was a finance manager at a Honda and
[00:26:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Nissan franchise and
[00:26:32] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know everybody it was during
[00:26:34] [SPEAKER_01]: COVID so people were like not working
[00:26:37] [SPEAKER_01]: but they were still buying cars
[00:26:38] [SPEAKER_01]: and they were working remotely or they were
[00:26:40] [SPEAKER_01]: starting their own thing and
[00:26:42] [SPEAKER_01]: I was like man I've been wanting to start like
[00:26:44] [SPEAKER_01]: some kind of clothing company
[00:26:45] [SPEAKER_01]: shirts that I want to wear basically
[00:26:48] [SPEAKER_01]: for like years so
[00:26:50] [SPEAKER_01]: me and my buddy sat down
[00:26:52] [SPEAKER_01]: and
[00:26:54] [SPEAKER_01]: he was in between
[00:26:56] [SPEAKER_01]: jobs where he had a very relaxed job at the time
[00:26:58] [SPEAKER_01]: so he kind of like
[00:27:00] [SPEAKER_01]: helped start us up
[00:27:02] [SPEAKER_01]: and then
[00:27:05] [SPEAKER_01]: I was like you know what
[00:27:06] [SPEAKER_01]: maybe I want to do this so
[00:27:09] [SPEAKER_01]: I quit
[00:27:11] [SPEAKER_01]: the car business temporarily
[00:27:12] [SPEAKER_01]: we'll get to that in a second
[00:27:15] [SPEAKER_01]: and then
[00:27:16] [SPEAKER_01]: I worked at a remote job
[00:27:18] [SPEAKER_01]: for a company out of Austin Texas
[00:27:20] [SPEAKER_01]: and it was kind of part time
[00:27:22] [SPEAKER_01]: and I did rematch
[00:27:24] [SPEAKER_01]: you know part time as well
[00:27:26] [SPEAKER_01]: so that was back in 2021
[00:27:28] [SPEAKER_01]: where we both kind of owned it together
[00:27:30] [SPEAKER_01]: and then in 23
[00:27:32] [SPEAKER_01]: he started his own clothing
[00:27:34] [SPEAKER_01]: company and
[00:27:36] [SPEAKER_01]: so rematch is
[00:27:38] [SPEAKER_01]: solely in my name now ever since 2023
[00:27:41] [SPEAKER_01]: and
[00:27:42] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah it just kind of
[00:27:43] [SPEAKER_01]: started like that you know reaching out to
[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_01]: people on Instagram starting a website
[00:27:48] [SPEAKER_01]: and I don't
[00:27:51] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't print
[00:27:52] [SPEAKER_01]: most of the shirts myself
[00:27:55] [SPEAKER_01]: the only thing I really
[00:27:56] [SPEAKER_01]: touch is like vinyl and like laser
[00:27:58] [SPEAKER_01]: etching and things like that I have a fulfillment company
[00:28:00] [SPEAKER_01]: that fulfills all
[00:28:02] [SPEAKER_01]: of my shirts and hats and things like that
[00:28:04] [SPEAKER_01]: so I don't really have to touch
[00:28:06] [SPEAKER_01]: a lot of the merchandise and each item
[00:28:08] [SPEAKER_01]: is like a la carte so if you
[00:28:11] [SPEAKER_01]: like there's no stock
[00:28:12] [SPEAKER_01]: anywhere if you bought a shirt
[00:28:14] [SPEAKER_01]: pull that you know blank shirt off the rack
[00:28:16] [SPEAKER_01]: they print it they ship it
[00:28:18] [SPEAKER_01]: and send it to you so
[00:28:20] [SPEAKER_01]: it's nice that I don't have like
[00:28:22] [SPEAKER_01]: print on demand basically yeah
[00:28:24] [SPEAKER_01]: it is yeah I don't have like a thousand shirts laying around
[00:28:26] [SPEAKER_01]: but at the same time it's hard
[00:28:29] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah it does
[00:28:31] [SPEAKER_01]: mean it takes
[00:28:32] [SPEAKER_01]: a couple extra days to get to you but
[00:28:34] [SPEAKER_01]: it saves you know
[00:28:36] [SPEAKER_01]: it saves the environment it saves me
[00:28:38] [SPEAKER_01]: so much time and money
[00:28:40] [SPEAKER_01]: but yeah it's been doing really
[00:28:42] [SPEAKER_01]: well and up until
[00:28:44] [SPEAKER_01]: this March when I was just
[00:28:46] [SPEAKER_01]: kind of offered to get back into the car business
[00:28:48] [SPEAKER_01]: someone I used to work with at that
[00:28:50] [SPEAKER_01]: dealership started a used car lot
[00:28:52] [SPEAKER_01]: so I've been kind of working with them
[00:28:54] [SPEAKER_01]: so I kind of do
[00:28:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Subi events, rev match
[00:28:59] [SPEAKER_01]: clothing and
[00:29:00] [SPEAKER_01]: I work at
[00:29:02] [SPEAKER_01]: used car a lot that's kind of my three
[00:29:04] [SPEAKER_01]: gigs right now so it's a lot of work
[00:29:06] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah and I run
[00:29:08] [SPEAKER_01]: rev match fully
[00:29:10] [SPEAKER_01]: fully by myself
[00:29:12] [SPEAKER_01]: I've got a great
[00:29:13] [SPEAKER_01]: crew of like sponcies and
[00:29:16] [SPEAKER_01]: people that have my back
[00:29:18] [SPEAKER_01]: and support me and
[00:29:20] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah business is good
[00:29:22] [SPEAKER_01]: I do about with rev match
[00:29:23] [SPEAKER_01]: I do about two or three events a year
[00:29:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I try to keep it pretty local like
[00:29:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Virginia and surrounding Virginia
[00:29:30] [SPEAKER_01]: like Box Fest is in Pennsylvania
[00:29:32] [SPEAKER_01]: which is only about four hours north of me
[00:29:34] [SPEAKER_01]: again something you
[00:29:36] [SPEAKER_01]: can't relate to in Texas right
[00:29:37] [SPEAKER_02]: well I mean yeah I mean
[00:29:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Subi Fest Texas is about
[00:29:42] [SPEAKER_02]: four hours from me which is right and it's
[00:29:44] [SPEAKER_02]: the same state yeah
[00:29:45] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah so
[00:29:47] [SPEAKER_01]: and then I'll go to like shows
[00:29:50] [SPEAKER_01]: in Virginia Beach, North Carolina
[00:29:51] [SPEAKER_01]: at the end of September I have one
[00:29:53] [SPEAKER_01]: a couple like an hour from me it's a
[00:29:55] [SPEAKER_01]: driver motor sports which is a
[00:29:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Japanese import company
[00:30:00] [SPEAKER_01]: I help them out
[00:30:01] [SPEAKER_01]: and then we do
[00:30:03] [SPEAKER_01]: an event at Virgin International Raceway
[00:30:05] [SPEAKER_01]: VIR in March
[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_01]: it's called Japan Auto Legends
[00:30:09] [SPEAKER_01]: and it's a bunch of it's just
[00:30:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Japanese cars I mean it's
[00:30:13] [SPEAKER_01]: just right hand drive cars as far as I
[00:30:15] [SPEAKER_01]: can see GTRs, Supras all
[00:30:17] [SPEAKER_01]: you know all sorts of stuff so yeah
[00:30:19] [SPEAKER_01]: that's basically the only
[00:30:21] [SPEAKER_01]: events I really go to but like I said
[00:30:23] [SPEAKER_01]: next year maybe Subi Fest California
[00:30:25] [SPEAKER_01]: I've had a lot of people wanting me to go out there so
[00:30:27] [SPEAKER_01]: we'll see so what kind of merch
[00:30:29] [SPEAKER_01]: do you have t-shirts
[00:30:31] [SPEAKER_01]: tank tops
[00:30:35] [SPEAKER_01]: crop tops
[00:30:36] [SPEAKER_01]: sweaters joggers
[00:30:37] [SPEAKER_01]: but we also do like windshield banners front
[00:30:39] [SPEAKER_01]: and rear windshield banners I do custom banners
[00:30:43] [SPEAKER_01]: hats keychains
[00:30:44] [SPEAKER_01]: shift knobs I try to keep it
[00:30:46] [SPEAKER_01]: pretty limited I'm not trying to be
[00:30:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Amazon you know
[00:30:49] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah I think if you have too many options
[00:30:52] [SPEAKER_02]: and people get a little overwhelmed so if
[00:30:54] [SPEAKER_02]: you kind of can keep it simplified
[00:30:56] [SPEAKER_02]: that's a little bit easier
[00:30:58] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah so I try to keep I've got
[00:31:00] [SPEAKER_01]: a lot of Subaru
[00:31:03] [SPEAKER_01]: specific shirts
[00:31:04] [SPEAKER_01]: and tops right now and
[00:31:06] [SPEAKER_01]: tumblers and stuff like that
[00:31:07] [SPEAKER_01]: I sold a lot of tumblers
[00:31:09] [SPEAKER_01]: at Boxer Fest
[00:31:11] [SPEAKER_01]: with
[00:31:13] [SPEAKER_01]: those are listed on the website but
[00:31:16] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah and a lot of
[00:31:17] [SPEAKER_01]: JDM stuff just that's kind of
[00:31:19] [SPEAKER_01]: like my bread and butter
[00:31:21] [SPEAKER_01]: is just JDM but
[00:31:23] [SPEAKER_01]: I've always been a Subaru guy so
[00:31:25] [SPEAKER_01]: no matter what I've had
[00:31:27] [SPEAKER_01]: there's always also been a Subaru
[00:31:29] [SPEAKER_01]: in the driveway you know like
[00:31:31] [SPEAKER_01]: a Ford Lightning and a Subaru
[00:31:33] [SPEAKER_01]: a Subaru Legacy and a Volkswagen
[00:31:35] [SPEAKER_01]: like a Subaru Outback
[00:31:37] [SPEAKER_01]: and a pickup truck you know
[00:31:40] [SPEAKER_01]: or a
[00:31:41] [SPEAKER_01]: RX-7 or a 300
[00:31:43] [SPEAKER_01]: ZX there's always also been a Subaru
[00:31:45] [SPEAKER_01]: I've just been a Subaru nut since I was
[00:31:47] [SPEAKER_01]: a kid now
[00:31:48] [SPEAKER_02]: have you mostly been into the
[00:31:51] [SPEAKER_02]: tuner scene or have
[00:31:53] [SPEAKER_02]: you done any off road stuff because you mentioned an
[00:31:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Outback I did mention
[00:31:57] [SPEAKER_01]: an Outback but that was a 99
[00:31:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Outback that I had when I was 16
[00:32:01] [SPEAKER_01]: oh okay there wasn't
[00:32:03] [SPEAKER_01]: a lot of overlanding stuff available
[00:32:05] [SPEAKER_01]: in 2005
[00:32:07] [SPEAKER_01]: but now I really want
[00:32:09] [SPEAKER_01]: an overland rig I'd love to get
[00:32:10] [SPEAKER_01]: like a Forester XT
[00:32:12] [SPEAKER_01]: or an Outback or a
[00:32:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Baja or something my neighbor actually
[00:32:16] [SPEAKER_01]: has a black Baja manual and I told
[00:32:18] [SPEAKER_01]: him I was like if you ever
[00:32:20] [SPEAKER_01]: get rid of this thing
[00:32:22] [SPEAKER_01]: if you ever get rid of this thing without coming to me
[00:32:24] [SPEAKER_01]: I will be so upset your house
[00:32:26] [SPEAKER_01]: will be egged every day
[00:32:28] [SPEAKER_01]: so I don't know I'd really
[00:32:30] [SPEAKER_01]: love to get something like that but no
[00:32:32] [SPEAKER_01]: I've mainly been in the tuner scene
[00:32:34] [SPEAKER_01]: since the early 2000s
[00:32:37] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean like the STI
[00:32:39] [SPEAKER_01]: it's not like lowered or on bags
[00:32:40] [SPEAKER_01]: or anything I want it to be functional but
[00:32:43] [SPEAKER_01]: it rips I mean
[00:32:44] [SPEAKER_01]: it has some subtle mods
[00:32:46] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sponsored by
[00:32:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Cobb and
[00:32:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Perrin and Fortunato
[00:32:53] [SPEAKER_01]: and yeah I just
[00:32:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I've got some plans for that I've got a
[00:32:56] [SPEAKER_01]: stockpile of parts
[00:32:58] [SPEAKER_01]: to put in
[00:33:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Dark Matter X sent me their new
[00:33:03] [SPEAKER_01]: shifter setup and I'm gonna man I'm trying
[00:33:05] [SPEAKER_01]: to get one for my Crosstrek
[00:33:06] [SPEAKER_01]: dude
[00:33:09] [SPEAKER_01]: once I get this thing installed I'll let you know
[00:33:11] [SPEAKER_02]: how it goes yeah
[00:33:12] [SPEAKER_02]: I know I've been so I've talked
[00:33:15] [SPEAKER_02]: to Leah and
[00:33:17] [SPEAKER_02]: I give her a hard time like
[00:33:19] [SPEAKER_02]: hey when is my shifter coming
[00:33:21] [SPEAKER_02]: in for my Crosstrek
[00:33:22] [SPEAKER_01]: I'll put in a good word for you
[00:33:25] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean I
[00:33:26] [SPEAKER_02]: I absolutely love driving
[00:33:29] [SPEAKER_02]: a manual I mean being that it's a Crosstrek
[00:33:31] [SPEAKER_02]: it's slow but also
[00:33:33] [SPEAKER_02]: being that it's manual I can get you know
[00:33:35] [SPEAKER_02]: a little more power out of it
[00:33:37] [SPEAKER_02]: keeping it in here for a little bit longer but
[00:33:39] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean you can have more control
[00:33:41] [SPEAKER_01]: when you're climbing rocks and things like
[00:33:43] [SPEAKER_02]: that too yeah I mean
[00:33:44] [SPEAKER_02]: I just I absolutely love
[00:33:47] [SPEAKER_02]: driving manual and I've
[00:33:49] [SPEAKER_02]: had the fortune of
[00:33:50] [SPEAKER_02]: so I drove my buddy
[00:33:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Jay he goes by audiophile
[00:33:55] [SPEAKER_02]: he has an STI that's
[00:33:57] [SPEAKER_02]: been tuned some so I
[00:33:58] [SPEAKER_02]: he let me drive that
[00:34:00] [SPEAKER_02]: lane drifters she has an
[00:34:03] [SPEAKER_02]: 05 legacy GT
[00:34:04] [SPEAKER_02]: she let me drive that
[00:34:06] [SPEAKER_02]: let me see there's a guy
[00:34:08] [SPEAKER_02]: that lives here in Houston he goes by
[00:34:10] [SPEAKER_02]: anonymous TWRX and he has
[00:34:12] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't remember what year it is but
[00:34:14] [SPEAKER_02]: he has a WRX that's been
[00:34:16] [SPEAKER_02]: like super modified
[00:34:19] [SPEAKER_02]: and that thing is and
[00:34:21] [SPEAKER_02]: he said you'll have to come back
[00:34:22] [SPEAKER_02]: and drive it again because I'm going to make it even faster
[00:34:24] [SPEAKER_02]: so I need to I've been wanting to go back and drive
[00:34:26] [SPEAKER_02]: that again and yeah
[00:34:29] [SPEAKER_02]: and I know I've driven some other cars I just
[00:34:31] [SPEAKER_02]: I can't think of them right off hand
[00:34:32] [SPEAKER_02]: but so I've experienced
[00:34:35] [SPEAKER_02]: you know some
[00:34:36] [SPEAKER_02]: boost and just
[00:34:38] [SPEAKER_02]: some power so it's
[00:34:41] [SPEAKER_02]: I can see where it could
[00:34:42] [SPEAKER_02]: definitely be kind of
[00:34:44] [SPEAKER_02]: addicting to drive something like
[00:34:46] [SPEAKER_02]: that and just the thrill
[00:34:49] [SPEAKER_01]: but yeah it's addicting
[00:34:50] [SPEAKER_01]: like just knowing that
[00:34:52] [SPEAKER_01]: you know the work you put into something
[00:34:54] [SPEAKER_01]: makes it like
[00:34:56] [SPEAKER_01]: the smile on your face just like
[00:34:58] [SPEAKER_01]: exponentially bigger like
[00:35:00] [SPEAKER_01]: it's such a cool feeling and same thing with
[00:35:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Overlanding just seeing what it looks like
[00:35:04] [SPEAKER_01]: before and after and like what it's
[00:35:06] [SPEAKER_01]: capable of it's such a cool feeling
[00:35:08] [SPEAKER_01]: which is like that's why I love
[00:35:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Subaru so much they're just so
[00:35:12] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean you can
[00:35:14] [SPEAKER_01]: accessorize them just so easily
[00:35:16] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah and it's such a
[00:35:18] [SPEAKER_02]: culture too within the Subaru community
[00:35:20] [SPEAKER_02]: and you know of course you have your
[00:35:22] [SPEAKER_02]: groups with other
[00:35:24] [SPEAKER_02]: manufacturers you know Toyota, Jeep
[00:35:27] [SPEAKER_02]: 4 with the Bronco
[00:35:28] [SPEAKER_02]: but it seems like
[00:35:31] [SPEAKER_02]: with Subaru there's just like
[00:35:32] [SPEAKER_02]: we're a different breed
[00:35:34] [SPEAKER_02]: and I think
[00:35:36] [SPEAKER_02]: within the Subaru community
[00:35:39] [SPEAKER_02]: there's a lot more
[00:35:40] [SPEAKER_02]: communication a lot more
[00:35:42] [SPEAKER_02]: crossover a lot more friendliness
[00:35:45] [SPEAKER_02]: a lot more acceptance
[00:35:46] [SPEAKER_02]: and so it's
[00:35:49] [SPEAKER_02]: you know it's definitely different
[00:35:51] [SPEAKER_02]: from other clubs or communities
[00:35:52] [SPEAKER_02]: that I've heard of from people that have been on the podcast
[00:35:55] [SPEAKER_02]: that were in other
[00:35:57] [SPEAKER_02]: communities they say that they really
[00:35:58] [SPEAKER_02]: love the Subaru community
[00:36:00] [SPEAKER_01]: well yeah and the thing about Subaru is you notice
[00:36:02] [SPEAKER_01]: if you go to any of these Subaru events
[00:36:04] [SPEAKER_01]: like Subaru Vest, Boxer Vest, Wicked Big Me, whatever
[00:36:08] [SPEAKER_01]: like
[00:36:08] [SPEAKER_01]: there's so many different kinds of Subarus
[00:36:10] [SPEAKER_01]: you got a bone stock SVX
[00:36:12] [SPEAKER_01]: or you've got a slam to the
[00:36:14] [SPEAKER_01]: ground like 2015
[00:36:16] [SPEAKER_01]: STI or you've got a
[00:36:19] [SPEAKER_01]: like lifted Baja or you've got a
[00:36:21] [SPEAKER_01]: lowered Outback or you've got
[00:36:23] [SPEAKER_01]: a lifted Legacy
[00:36:24] [SPEAKER_01]: and there's a mutual respect
[00:36:27] [SPEAKER_01]: around everybody but with Jeeps
[00:36:29] [SPEAKER_01]: you're not going to go to a Jeep place and find
[00:36:30] [SPEAKER_01]: a lowered Jeep I mean you might
[00:36:33] [SPEAKER_01]: it's not as
[00:36:35] [SPEAKER_01]: common as
[00:36:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Subarus with such the expanse
[00:36:40] [SPEAKER_01]: of different
[00:36:41] [SPEAKER_01]: kind of things that you see
[00:36:42] [SPEAKER_01]: but yeah so that's
[00:36:45] [SPEAKER_01]: what I love about these events you can go be like
[00:36:46] [SPEAKER_01]: oh my god your car is so awesome and you're looking at
[00:36:49] [SPEAKER_01]: like a slammed SVX
[00:36:51] [SPEAKER_01]: or you're turned around and you're like oh my gosh
[00:36:52] [SPEAKER_01]: your Forester is so awesome and it's like up on
[00:36:55] [SPEAKER_01]: rocks with the tent out and
[00:36:56] [SPEAKER_01]: someone is grilling out of the
[00:36:59] [SPEAKER_01]: the back seat or something
[00:37:01] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah it's
[00:37:02] [SPEAKER_02]: crazy yeah because it's nice to walk through
[00:37:05] [SPEAKER_02]: there and see
[00:37:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Overland build sprinkled in with
[00:37:08] [SPEAKER_02]: the tuner cars and
[00:37:10] [SPEAKER_02]: so yeah because like Boxer Fest
[00:37:12] [SPEAKER_02]: was the first event that I went to I didn't really
[00:37:14] [SPEAKER_02]: know what to expect and it was
[00:37:17] [SPEAKER_02]: I love the way that they have Boxer Fest
[00:37:19] [SPEAKER_02]: laid out because it's like long
[00:37:20] [SPEAKER_02]: and linear and
[00:37:23] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah and then you know I've been
[00:37:25] [SPEAKER_02]: to SubiFest California which that
[00:37:27] [SPEAKER_02]: was really cool and then of course
[00:37:29] [SPEAKER_02]: SubiFest Texas so they're all
[00:37:31] [SPEAKER_02]: different but it's
[00:37:33] [SPEAKER_02]: seeing the different types
[00:37:35] [SPEAKER_02]: of builds that people do
[00:37:37] [SPEAKER_02]: it's just like it's insane
[00:37:39] [SPEAKER_02]: what some of these people can do with
[00:37:41] [SPEAKER_02]: a car and you know
[00:37:43] [SPEAKER_02]: just seeing how you can have the same
[00:37:45] [SPEAKER_02]: car, year,
[00:37:47] [SPEAKER_02]: model, everything right next to
[00:37:49] [SPEAKER_02]: each other and they can look completely
[00:37:51] [SPEAKER_01]: different yeah the
[00:37:54] [SPEAKER_01]: y'all should check
[00:37:55] [SPEAKER_01]: out the booth card that I had
[00:37:57] [SPEAKER_01]: in my booth at Boxer Fest so it's
[00:37:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I guess he reports it as
[00:38:01] [SPEAKER_01]: the widest WRX
[00:38:03] [SPEAKER_01]: in the world basically
[00:38:04] [SPEAKER_01]: but yeah it's got a custom wide body
[00:38:07] [SPEAKER_01]: kit I think the wheels are like 17
[00:38:09] [SPEAKER_01]: by 17 or something
[00:38:11] [SPEAKER_01]: like that I mean they're just
[00:38:13] [SPEAKER_01]: wide you can't even see the
[00:38:15] [SPEAKER_01]: spokes in the picture that's on my Instagram right
[00:38:17] [SPEAKER_01]: now do you have the account?
[00:38:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah so his account
[00:38:21] [SPEAKER_01]: is just a WRX
[00:38:23] [SPEAKER_01]: is his account and
[00:38:26] [SPEAKER_01]: his name is Chris also
[00:38:28] [SPEAKER_01]: nice and
[00:38:28] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah and the booth next to ours was
[00:38:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Eric with Dead Opulistry
[00:38:33] [SPEAKER_01]: and Panzer WRX was
[00:38:35] [SPEAKER_01]: at that booth as at that booth
[00:38:37] [SPEAKER_01]: and he's got a twin turbo
[00:38:39] [SPEAKER_01]: four cylinder Boxer set up in his
[00:38:42] [SPEAKER_01]: WRX hatchback
[00:38:44] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah they're pretty
[00:38:45] [SPEAKER_02]: awesome yeah
[00:38:47] [SPEAKER_01]: so you never know what you're going to see at these
[00:38:49] [SPEAKER_01]: events or at these booths or at the car show
[00:38:51] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah yeah
[00:38:53] [SPEAKER_02]: have you ever been with
[00:38:55] [SPEAKER_02]: anybody off-roading
[00:38:57] [SPEAKER_02]: like ridden in somebody's car that
[00:38:59] [SPEAKER_02]: goes off-roading?
[00:39:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Well so I am
[00:39:04] [SPEAKER_01]: so I was born
[00:39:05] [SPEAKER_01]: in the city but I grew up in the country
[00:39:07] [SPEAKER_01]: and oh and oh yeah
[00:39:09] [SPEAKER_01]: we've I've been mud bogging
[00:39:11] [SPEAKER_01]: and you know trail riding
[00:39:13] [SPEAKER_01]: so you know what it's like
[00:39:14] [SPEAKER_01]: but nothing in like my own Subaru
[00:39:17] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean I had a
[00:39:19] [SPEAKER_01]: 2.5 RS one time that
[00:39:21] [SPEAKER_01]: had Kony shocks on it
[00:39:23] [SPEAKER_01]: and stuff and I drove that thing
[00:39:25] [SPEAKER_01]: to places you should
[00:39:27] [SPEAKER_01]: not drive a car
[00:39:29] [SPEAKER_01]: it was an 0-1 two door
[00:39:31] [SPEAKER_01]: 2.5 RS silver
[00:39:33] [SPEAKER_01]: and you know I drove that thing in the snow
[00:39:35] [SPEAKER_01]: in the mud and I've driven
[00:39:37] [SPEAKER_01]: jeeps and trucks through the mud and stuff
[00:39:39] [SPEAKER_01]: but I've never really taken like an
[00:39:41] [SPEAKER_01]: outback or forest or like through
[00:39:43] [SPEAKER_01]: a canyon pass or something like that
[00:39:45] [SPEAKER_02]: I've always wanted to yeah it's
[00:39:48] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean again I know more
[00:39:49] [SPEAKER_02]: of that than the tuner scene although
[00:39:51] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm glad that I've had the experience of
[00:39:53] [SPEAKER_02]: driving you know some tuners but
[00:39:56] [SPEAKER_02]: it's I mean it would be nice to
[00:39:57] [SPEAKER_02]: have like one of each
[00:39:59] [SPEAKER_02]: like one that's a tuner build
[00:40:01] [SPEAKER_02]: and one that's an overland build and be
[00:40:03] [SPEAKER_02]: able to you know or I could just
[00:40:05] [SPEAKER_02]: do something with my cross track and make
[00:40:07] [SPEAKER_02]: it a lot more powerful but that's
[00:40:09] [SPEAKER_02]: not that easy but it can
[00:40:11] [SPEAKER_01]: be done. It can be done.
[00:40:13] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm holding out for my neighbors
[00:40:16] [SPEAKER_01]: my neighbor's Baja
[00:40:18] [SPEAKER_01]: but yeah if I can get that
[00:40:20] [SPEAKER_01]: and lift that up or something
[00:40:21] [SPEAKER_01]: I almost bought a brat that was like
[00:40:23] [SPEAKER_01]: an hour from me the
[00:40:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Facebook listing looked really clean I even sent
[00:40:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Bucky this and he was like oh man well
[00:40:29] [SPEAKER_01]: it's a bummer but the brat
[00:40:31] [SPEAKER_01]: looked clean in pictures but I get up there
[00:40:34] [SPEAKER_01]: and it literally
[00:40:36] [SPEAKER_01]: didn't run or
[00:40:38] [SPEAKER_01]: and we finally got it started and we got
[00:40:39] [SPEAKER_01]: stranded on the road and the bottom
[00:40:41] [SPEAKER_01]: rockers were license
[00:40:43] [SPEAKER_01]: plates that were welded on the car and spray
[00:40:45] [SPEAKER_01]: painted. Oh joy.
[00:40:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah I was like
[00:40:49] [SPEAKER_01]: man this is not what I
[00:40:52] [SPEAKER_01]: was expecting I cannot go home
[00:40:53] [SPEAKER_01]: in this car but yeah
[00:40:55] [SPEAKER_01]: a brat would be cool.
[00:40:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Just something like just something
[00:40:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Harley in off road I would love to have
[00:41:01] [SPEAKER_02]: something like that. Yeah it's
[00:41:04] [SPEAKER_02]: fun and
[00:41:06] [SPEAKER_02]: I've enjoyed it so far
[00:41:07] [SPEAKER_02]: but is there anything else that you
[00:41:09] [SPEAKER_02]: wanted to share before we wrap this up?
[00:41:13] [SPEAKER_01]: No
[00:41:15] [SPEAKER_01]: it was
[00:41:16] [SPEAKER_01]: great talking it was cool talking about
[00:41:18] [SPEAKER_01]: rev match and
[00:41:19] [SPEAKER_01]: subi events and what
[00:41:21] [SPEAKER_01]: it's like to set up at these events and
[00:41:24] [SPEAKER_01]: basically it all boils down to
[00:41:25] [SPEAKER_01]: if you're like a
[00:41:28] [SPEAKER_01]: car culture or Subaru
[00:41:30] [SPEAKER_01]: merchandise company or shop and
[00:41:32] [SPEAKER_01]: you want to get in front of the
[00:41:34] [SPEAKER_01]: front of your people like
[00:41:36] [SPEAKER_01]: just give it a shot. It's
[00:41:38] [SPEAKER_01]: even if you come out
[00:41:40] [SPEAKER_01]: you know
[00:41:42] [SPEAKER_01]: not ahead
[00:41:44] [SPEAKER_01]: but also not losing money but
[00:41:46] [SPEAKER_01]: you've gained a lot of
[00:41:48] [SPEAKER_01]: friends and
[00:41:50] [SPEAKER_01]: customers and
[00:41:52] [SPEAKER_01]: an experience go for
[00:41:54] [SPEAKER_01]: it. It's such a blast and you wouldn't be
[00:41:56] [SPEAKER_02]: disappointed. Yeah and I think for
[00:41:58] [SPEAKER_02]: a lot of people to
[00:42:00] [SPEAKER_02]: you know vendors aside is just
[00:42:02] [SPEAKER_02]: people in the community it's a chance
[00:42:04] [SPEAKER_02]: like you said for one a reunion to
[00:42:06] [SPEAKER_02]: see people that they may
[00:42:08] [SPEAKER_02]: only see at these events but also
[00:42:10] [SPEAKER_02]: you know you
[00:42:12] [SPEAKER_02]: have all these people coming into the community
[00:42:14] [SPEAKER_02]: all these new people and then
[00:42:16] [SPEAKER_02]: they go to one of these events and they get
[00:42:18] [SPEAKER_02]: a chance to meet all these people
[00:42:20] [SPEAKER_02]: that they've only chatted with
[00:42:22] [SPEAKER_02]: through Instagram and
[00:42:24] [SPEAKER_02]: meeting somebody in person
[00:42:26] [SPEAKER_02]: for the first time is just it's like
[00:42:28] [SPEAKER_02]: there's like nothing like it. It's awesome
[00:42:30] [SPEAKER_01]: 100 percent. Yeah when
[00:42:32] [SPEAKER_01]: somebody like walks by the booth
[00:42:34] [SPEAKER_01]: and of course you don't know from Adam
[00:42:36] [SPEAKER_01]: but they're just like waiting for a chance
[00:42:38] [SPEAKER_01]: to talk to you and they finally talk to you
[00:42:40] [SPEAKER_01]: like yeah
[00:42:42] [SPEAKER_01]: such and such and I'm like
[00:42:44] [SPEAKER_01]: squinting I'm like I don't and then
[00:42:46] [SPEAKER_01]: they show me the Instagram like oh yeah
[00:42:48] [SPEAKER_01]: you bought like 20 shirts for me
[00:42:50] [SPEAKER_01]: and they're like yeah I love your stuff and
[00:42:52] [SPEAKER_01]: I love what you're all about and the community
[00:42:55] [SPEAKER_01]: and I'm like heck yeah
[00:42:56] [SPEAKER_01]: and then like the next year I see
[00:42:58] [SPEAKER_01]: a walk by and I'm like hey you know
[00:43:00] [SPEAKER_01]: and it's just
[00:43:01] [SPEAKER_01]: it is just so cool to have that like reunion
[00:43:04] [SPEAKER_01]: that community and
[00:43:06] [SPEAKER_01]: you make memories
[00:43:08] [SPEAKER_01]: lasting memories at these events.
[00:43:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah, thank you so much for taking
[00:43:12] [SPEAKER_02]: the time. Thank you for reaching out to me and
[00:43:14] [SPEAKER_02]: wanting to do this. I appreciate you
[00:43:16] [SPEAKER_02]: coming on here again and talking about
[00:43:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Subi events and of course
[00:43:20] [SPEAKER_02]: the Rev Match that's exciting. I'll have to go check out
[00:43:22] [SPEAKER_02]: the website and see what you've got there
[00:43:24] [SPEAKER_02]: and anybody else that wants to go visit
[00:43:26] [SPEAKER_02]: it, you know, go check it out and if
[00:43:28] [SPEAKER_02]: you didn't see him at Boxer Fest
[00:43:30] [SPEAKER_02]: this year then look for him
[00:43:32] [SPEAKER_02]: next year and maybe at
[00:43:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Subi Fest California if you can make it.
[00:43:36] [SPEAKER_01]: That's right and I'll be sure
[00:43:38] [SPEAKER_01]: to send you a discount code for the website.
[00:43:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Awesome, sweet, yeah.
[00:43:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Appreciate you. Yeah, thank you and
[00:43:44] [SPEAKER_02]: hope you have a good night. You too.
[00:43:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Alright. Hello everybody
[00:43:47] [SPEAKER_02]: thank you for tuning in to this
[00:43:49] [SPEAKER_02]: bonus episode of the Subi New Podcast.

[00:43:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Chris a follow. His account is

[00:43:58] [SPEAKER_02]: sti25
[00:43:59] [SPEAKER_02]: and you can also follow his
[00:44:01] [SPEAKER_02]: other account Rev Match Clothing
[00:44:04] [SPEAKER_02]: and it's Rev Match
[00:44:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Clothing Co.
[00:44:08] [SPEAKER_02]: So go check that out as well.
[00:44:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you so much Chris for taking the time
[00:44:12] [SPEAKER_02]: to record with me and share
[00:44:14] [SPEAKER_02]: your experience at Boxer Fest
[00:44:16] [SPEAKER_02]: and what it's like to set up as a
[00:44:18] [SPEAKER_02]: vendor and then what it takes
[00:44:20] [SPEAKER_02]: as a vendor to get
[00:44:22] [SPEAKER_02]: all that set up and get it going with
[00:44:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Subi Events and thank you for
[00:44:26] [SPEAKER_02]: what you do with Subi Events and helping
[00:44:28] [SPEAKER_02]: get that going
[00:44:30] [SPEAKER_02]: with the vendors and working with them
[00:44:32] [SPEAKER_02]: to get them set up as
[00:44:34] [SPEAKER_02]: a sponsor and with the booth and
[00:44:36] [SPEAKER_02]: everything else that's involved. So
[00:44:38] [SPEAKER_02]: thanks again everybody. This
[00:44:40] [SPEAKER_02]: is it for this but you're getting
[00:44:42] [SPEAKER_02]: a double dose of the podcast on this
[00:44:44] [SPEAKER_02]: holiday weekend because I'll be putting out
[00:44:46] [SPEAKER_02]: a solo episode on
[00:44:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Monday but
[00:44:50] [SPEAKER_02]: it won't just be me. There's somebody
[00:44:52] [SPEAKER_02]: that recorded something and sent it to me
[00:44:54] [SPEAKER_02]: to include in
[00:44:56] [SPEAKER_02]: the episode on Monday so
[00:44:58] [SPEAKER_02]: we'll have to see who it is.
[00:45:00] [SPEAKER_02]: So anyway, thanks again for tuning in. Hope
[00:45:02] [SPEAKER_02]: you all have a wonderful
[00:45:04] [SPEAKER_02]: rest of your holiday weekend.
[00:45:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Much Subi love,
