[00:00:10] [SPEAKER_04]: Hey, this is Maile. You can find me on Instagram at Marvin the Outback and you are listening to episode 185 of the Subie and YOU podcast

[00:00:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Hello everybody. Welcome to another episode of the Subie and YOU podcast as Maile said this is episode

[00:00:27] [SPEAKER_02]: 185 that's a lot of episodes. We're getting closer to 200 which seems kind of crazy

[00:00:33] [SPEAKER_02]: But I guess it happens eventually

[00:00:35] [SPEAKER_02]: So what's really cool about this episode for me personally is

[00:00:41] [SPEAKER_02]: This is another guest that I have met in person before we recorded

[00:00:46] [SPEAKER_02]: So I actually met and got to hang out with Maile twice

[00:00:51] [SPEAKER_02]: so

[00:00:52] [SPEAKER_02]: I'll get into that a little bit in her episode

[00:00:55] [SPEAKER_02]: But I just keep adding to the list of people that I've met in person that I had on the podcast as well

[00:01:01] [SPEAKER_02]: And again, very thankful that I've been able to meet so many people in person that I've had on the podcast

[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_02]: So hopefully can keep that momentum going. I hope you've all had a great weekend. It has been

[00:01:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Really nice this weekend in Houston. It's been unusually cool, but we are all very thankful for that and

[00:01:23] [SPEAKER_02]: It was just so nice outside. You wake up in the morning. It's like in the mid 70s and

[00:01:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Only got up to I think mid 80s today

[00:01:33] [SPEAKER_02]: So today's Sunday that I'm finishing up this episode late

[00:01:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Because I was enjoying the weekend. Also today the Sunday

[00:01:43] [SPEAKER_02]: September 8th, I recorded the next episode for

[00:01:47] [SPEAKER_02]: 180 186 and

[00:01:50] [SPEAKER_02]: I can't stop smiling and when you get to episode 186

[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_02]: You will understand why it was the most insane experience I think I've ever had in my life. So

[00:02:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that'll be in a couple of weeks. But today this week this episode

[00:02:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Maile episode 185 the Subian you podcast is brought to you by eccentric designs

[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_03]: For those of you who don't know eccentric designs is a small community driven business that offers custom fit vinyl overlays for most Subaru models

[00:02:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay

[00:02:56] [SPEAKER_02]: I was asking this person if they how they listen to the podcast because I hadn't had an Apple podcast review in a while

[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_02]: there is

[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_02]: You can send a message through buzzsprout for that specific episode

[00:03:11] [SPEAKER_02]: But I asked this person if they wouldn't mind going in and writing an overall kind of average review

[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_02]: not just on a specific episode so they did and

[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_02]: This is what they wrote. I recently had a wonderful conversation with Raphael on his Suby and you podcast

[00:03:31] [SPEAKER_02]: I honestly was a bit nervous at first

[00:03:34] [SPEAKER_02]: But he is such an easy person to talk with and made me feel right at home

[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_02]: It's like talking with a longtime friend and we had a lot to catch up on

[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_02]: He gives you questions to keep you on track

[00:03:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Otherwise, I probably would have jabbered for hours about all sorts of things

[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you Raphael for having me on your podcast and making it such an easy

[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Conversation that came from Blackfoot, Idaho, and that was ah Trek. It's Yagi

[00:04:02] [SPEAKER_02]: So thank you so much for your review

[00:04:05] [SPEAKER_02]: She doesn't have an iPhone so she didn't have any way to get to Apple podcast to write a review there

[00:04:12] [SPEAKER_02]: So she wrote it through buzzsprout

[00:04:14] [SPEAKER_02]: so if you want to write a review and you want me to read it you can go to

[00:04:19] [SPEAKER_02]: my website and go to buzzsprout and there it says like leave a message or

[00:04:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Text message. I've got exactly what it says, but you can leave a message there if you want to leave like a general

[00:04:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Podcast review and I will read it. So thank you so much for leaving that review. I appreciate it

[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_02]: This episode is brought to you by

[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_02]: And thank you so much Subaru gear for sponsoring the subian you podcast and extending this great offer to the subian you podcast

[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_02]: listeners

[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_02]: All right

[00:05:59] [SPEAKER_02]: I know I'm gonna get into it with this episode or get into it during the episode or during this conversation with Miley

[00:06:06] [SPEAKER_02]: to talk about

[00:06:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Something specific, but I wanted to give a little preview. Not only did I get to meet her in person

[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_02]: But Miley was the person that gave me the first opportunity

[00:06:20] [SPEAKER_02]: To drive through snow when I went out to moon rocks

[00:06:24] [SPEAKER_02]: So I am forever grateful for that and that trip was just so fun

[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, and we talked about that a little bit too. But yeah, so it was great conversation

[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_02]: I know it's a little bit long

[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_02]: but

[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_02]: We get into some some really good stuff and some things that like we have experienced

[00:06:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Together and then a little thing that she did for me right after the podcast was a year old

[00:06:48] [SPEAKER_02]: And so I just wanted to thank her for that

[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_02]: So let's get into this conversation with Miley and hear what she has to say about her Subaru journey and

[00:07:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Marvin the Outback

[00:07:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Hello, welcome Miley

[00:07:15] [SPEAKER_04]: Hey, thanks for having me. How are you doing? I'm doing good

[00:07:19] [SPEAKER_02]: It's it's been a while that we've been talking about this

[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's been probably two years in the making of me ducking your invitation

[00:07:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so I'm working on getting comfortable with the uncomfortable so we're here and

[00:07:34] [SPEAKER_04]: Grateful for you to have me. Yeah, you're welcome

[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_02]: And I get to add you to the list of people that I've met in person and had on the podcast

[00:07:42] [SPEAKER_02]: So that's exciting for me

[00:07:44] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think we've met twice now. Yep

[00:07:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so it's fun and

[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_02]: You gave me my first experience of driving through the snow. So I'm forever grateful for that

[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it was a it was fun I was at one drink in and then everyone started going night trailing

[00:08:03] [SPEAKER_04]: So I asked you to be my designated driver because I am a lightweight

[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and that was fun because I had been wanting to drive through proper snow for a long time not having any here

[00:08:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Anywhere near me and so when I was out there and they started they they're all taken off

[00:08:19] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, I got to do this. Let's go and you're like you can drive like alright fun

[00:08:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Let's do this and I had a good time

[00:08:26] [SPEAKER_02]: it was fun driving through the snow and just kind of

[00:08:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Getting the feel of what it was like to drive through it and how the car just goes through it with ease

[00:08:35] [SPEAKER_02]: So that was that was a lot of fun. So, thank you

[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, definitely and I think you were the first one to drive my car where I was passenger princess thing

[00:08:43] [SPEAKER_02]: So it's a little bit. Yeah, nice good

[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_02]: So I'm sure you've answered this before

[00:08:49] [SPEAKER_02]: But we have to go with the all-important question, thanks to Sierra SLT Trek

[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_02]: But do you prefer waffles or pancakes?

[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_04]: So I will start with the political answer to say that I really enjoy both

[00:09:05] [SPEAKER_04]: But if I had to choose I'm gonna go with a wild card and say I'm seeing pancakes. Yes

[00:09:13] [SPEAKER_04]: yes, I

[00:09:14] [SPEAKER_04]: Prefer the fluffiness and the softness of the pancakes and I am a fan of the syrup traps

[00:09:19] [SPEAKER_04]: But you know

[00:09:20] [SPEAKER_04]: It doesn't as soon as you cut in it doesn't always stay contained where I always say with pancakes

[00:09:25] [SPEAKER_04]: You can cut them and just dunk them right into the syrup. So yeah, yeah

[00:09:28] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean and I like waffles because I do like the crunchiness of them at times

[00:09:33] [SPEAKER_02]: But still I like pancakes just a little bit more but all right

[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, we got the other way edges. You can get the edges of the pancakes a little crunchy, too

[00:09:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah, that's that's really good. I like when that happens

[00:09:45] [SPEAKER_02]: so but before we get started with other things too, I wanted to

[00:09:51] [SPEAKER_02]: try not to get emotional here, but I remember when the podcast hit a year old and

[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_02]: You came together with several people and sent me a gift box

[00:10:01] [SPEAKER_02]: You said not to open until we have our discord chat. So

[00:10:06] [SPEAKER_02]: because we were scheduling a chat and

[00:10:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Said not to open until then so me and you and

[00:10:13] [SPEAKER_02]: There's several other people were on I don't remember who all was on but I know it was a pretty

[00:10:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Decent amount of people. I think it was like six or seven of us in the box was a plaque that had my episode on

[00:10:26] [SPEAKER_02]: it and

[00:10:28] [SPEAKER_02]: there was it's like it was fast-forwarded to a specific spot in the episode a timestamp and

[00:10:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Then you sent me some vegan cookies and then the mug and

[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_02]: then but the best part of all of it was first of all just the fact that you did that and

[00:10:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Then second of all the card that you had in there and the card had a really nice message

[00:10:50] [SPEAKER_02]: And you told me that y'all all came together and donated to Rowdy Girl Sanctuary, which is

[00:10:55] [SPEAKER_02]: The sanctuary that I've volunteered at for a long time

[00:10:58] [SPEAKER_02]: And that was and then I couldn't get through the car because I kept crying

[00:11:02] [SPEAKER_04]: I always say my evil plan is to make people cry

[00:11:06] [SPEAKER_04]: Get it worked. Yeah. No, I just think that you know, it was a I think a year

[00:11:12] [SPEAKER_04]: anniversary of the podcast and I know you've heard from a lot of people how much you meant to the community, but I just

[00:11:19] [SPEAKER_04]: Was trying to not make it known that it was me and just like collectively us

[00:11:22] [SPEAKER_04]: But I guess it got leaked so whatever but just trying to let it because I don't want I don't like attention and credit

[00:11:27] [SPEAKER_04]: but I was just thought it'd be nice to have a physical representation of how much the community appreciates you and the

[00:11:35] [SPEAKER_04]: podcast and how much work you put in and I just like making people smile and doing random acts of kindness and I

[00:11:42] [SPEAKER_04]: Like to do it more on a personal level, you know the mug

[00:11:46] [SPEAKER_04]: It's I think it said something like world's greatest podcaster even better dad or something

[00:11:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I know like the podcast is important to you, but your family is you know

[00:11:56] [SPEAKER_04]: First and foremost in your life and

[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_04]: You know, we thought about doing like a donation to somewhere and you had mentioned

[00:12:03] [SPEAKER_04]: Ready girl sanctuary in the podcast a lot and I was trying to figure out a secret way to do this

[00:12:07] [SPEAKER_04]: Where I actually I can't remember if I was talking to Kelly at the time or not

[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Or if I found her through your podcast and through that page

[00:12:14] [SPEAKER_04]: I think we might have been friends at that point on Instagram. Yeah, I just sent her a message

[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah

[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm sent her a message

[00:12:19] [SPEAKER_04]: Just to be like hey

[00:12:21] [SPEAKER_04]: We want to make a donation and your honor because we know that being more mean more to you than just like a physical gift

[00:12:25] [SPEAKER_04]: So you recommended ready girl sanctuary and kind of helped us trick you into getting all of this

[00:12:33] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah to Kelly. She's awesome and amazing. Yes. Yes. She is very much

[00:12:37] [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, so that was that was a really great moment

[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Throughout this journey of the podcast and just my Subaru journey and you know with friends and the community. So, thank you

[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah

[00:12:49] [SPEAKER_04]: Aren't you both playing work? We need you cry it did

[00:12:52] [SPEAKER_02]: All right, so now we'll get into your episode and talk to more about you and your your Subaru so

[00:12:59] [SPEAKER_02]: speaking of discord, I know that we were chatting and stuff and

[00:13:03] [SPEAKER_02]: You were talking to us and you were connecting with people just in the community through Instagram

[00:13:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Before you even had your outback. So

[00:13:13] [SPEAKER_02]: How long?

[00:13:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Were you like chatting with people and planning that before you actually got it?

[00:13:21] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so well the reason I first got the outback and wanted an outback was I have an older sister who

[00:13:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Recreationally does the whole van life and I think she's on her third van right now

[00:13:32] [SPEAKER_04]: so we always grew up hiking and going to different state national parks and I

[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Wanted to do something similar but I couldn't afford like a tricked-out camper van or to do a build

[00:13:43] [SPEAKER_04]: So I started looking at car camper conversions on Instagram

[00:13:47] [SPEAKER_04]: Pinterest Google Facebook all the places and was just looking for car camper conversions and I found

[00:13:55] [SPEAKER_04]: A page. I can't remember exactly the handle

[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_04]: it's like hungry humble hiker or something like that where she had a super outback it had a platform build and

[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm one of those people that when I see something that I want I'll just fixate and obsess over it. So

[00:14:10] [SPEAKER_04]: after seeing that picture I

[00:14:14] [SPEAKER_04]: Saw the picture and then

[00:14:16] [SPEAKER_04]: a

[00:14:17] [SPEAKER_04]: Minute, I knew I wanted to see her out back. I knew what color I wanted what trim level what generation and

[00:14:24] [SPEAKER_04]: started thinking of a name

[00:14:26] [SPEAKER_04]: So I was between the outback in the Forester for a little bit

[00:14:30] [SPEAKER_04]: But I personally don't like driving bigger cars and I wanted something with some room

[00:14:34] [SPEAKER_04]: so the outback was the biggest I want to go and I

[00:14:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Have preference over legroom versus headspace because when I sleep in camp, I like to starfish

[00:14:43] [SPEAKER_04]: so I just like sprawled my limbs all out and needed the room lengthwise and then

[00:14:49] [SPEAKER_04]: yeah, I just

[00:14:51] [SPEAKER_04]: Fixated on that for a while and then I had my previous car that had a name

[00:14:55] [SPEAKER_04]: Which was Chuck if you are familiar with the show burn notice at all. I've heard of it, but I've never watched it

[00:15:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so it's kind of like this former spy show, but there's Bruce Campbell's character and his name in the series

[00:15:08] [SPEAKER_04]: I can't remember but he had this alter ego for when he'd go undercover and it was

[00:15:12] [SPEAKER_04]: Chuck Finley and he always said if the devil had a name it'd be Chuck Finley and my car at the time was red

[00:15:17] [SPEAKER_04]: So I named it Chuck. Oh, and I liked the idea

[00:15:19] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah

[00:15:20] [SPEAKER_04]: And I like the idea of having like a male name for my cars because it kind of you know

[00:15:23] [SPEAKER_04]: Traditionally a lot of vehicles are named after women

[00:15:25] [SPEAKER_04]: So with this car, I wanted kind of a male name

[00:15:28] [SPEAKER_04]: I wanted it to kind of represent my nerdy or side or you know, interesting pop culture reference and

[00:15:36] [SPEAKER_04]: Since I knew it was white. I

[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Started just thinking of white cartoon characters like Casper Baymax, but nothing really stuck

[00:15:43] [SPEAKER_04]: so I literally went on Google and

[00:15:46] [SPEAKER_04]: Started typing in white cartoon characters, which I got a mixed review of what I was actually looking for

[00:15:52] [SPEAKER_04]: And I was just yeah, I was just scrolling through which is funny because it wasn't even a cartoon character, but I saw a picture of

[00:16:00] [SPEAKER_04]: Marvin the paranoid Android from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie

[00:16:04] [SPEAKER_04]: Mm-hmm, and I saw that and it just clicked because I

[00:16:10] [SPEAKER_04]: for most of my life struggled with struggled with anxiety and

[00:16:15] [SPEAKER_04]: Catastrophic thoughts and kind of a more fixed negative mindset where I was just very worried all the time and new experiences were really

[00:16:22] [SPEAKER_04]: uncomfortable to me and

[00:16:25] [SPEAKER_04]: I sometimes would just jump to the worst case scenario or just something that's

[00:16:29] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, just kind of negative and in the movie. He's kind of like that

[00:16:33] [SPEAKER_04]: I say he's kind of the robot Eeyore in a way and up to the point that I've been

[00:16:38] [SPEAKER_04]: deciding to get my car done a lot of personal work and

[00:16:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Personal development and just focusing on words. I'm working on my mental health. So it's kind of a

[00:16:48] [SPEAKER_04]: nod to my mental health journey and the continuation of where I was going and that also

[00:16:53] [SPEAKER_04]: The reason that I wanted to get this car originally was to go

[00:16:56] [SPEAKER_04]: To different parks and national parks and state parks and go solo camping which at the time seemed like a very very

[00:17:06] [SPEAKER_04]: Strong feat for me to do because that was something I was not comfortable doing on my own

[00:17:10] [SPEAKER_04]: so it was that's how I named Marvin the paranoid back after Marvin the paranoid Android and

[00:17:18] [SPEAKER_04]: I think after that I started following a few different Subaru campers a few different just

[00:17:25] [SPEAKER_04]: Specifically outbacks, but I just started following all the hashtags and profiles and it was more people that were hiking and then like a lot of

[00:17:32] [SPEAKER_04]: people following

[00:17:34] [SPEAKER_04]: Subaru's and things on their account the algorithm just spit out the whole community after a while. Yeah

[00:17:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah to the point where it was

[00:17:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Overtaking my personal account and I wasn't seeing people that I actually knew anymore

[00:17:46] [SPEAKER_04]: So I decided you make my profile for my car since I already had the name and in true paranoid fashion

[00:17:54] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, I better do it now because if someone takes the name

[00:17:56] [SPEAKER_04]: I haven't seen another Marvin the outback in four years or anything similar. So yeah, I made that profile

[00:18:02] [SPEAKER_04]: I think it was either end of February early March

[00:18:06] [SPEAKER_04]: Didn't actually get my car until October of that year. So I think that's like a good six months. But yeah, I've made the profile

[00:18:13] [SPEAKER_04]: I put you know coming soon didn't specify when I started following a lot more of the off-roading pages

[00:18:22] [SPEAKER_04]: Shout out to my first follower, which was wild thorn berries

[00:18:26] [SPEAKER_04]: Love them

[00:18:27] [SPEAKER_04]: yeah, it was actually kind of funny because they had a hitchhikers guided galaxy thing going on with their car in certain places and

[00:18:34] [SPEAKER_04]: So they got the name right away, which is cool. They're great amazing people. So I wanted to shut them out and

[00:18:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I just started following more and more pages

[00:18:42] [SPEAKER_04]: I called myself the unofficial CB stalker because I wasn't really engaging. I was just following everybody and

[00:18:48] [SPEAKER_04]: Following stories and looking at captions and reading about builds and trying to learn but not really engaging and

[00:18:56] [SPEAKER_04]: That's kind of how I got into the community a little bit and then found your podcast and that just kind of opened the world

[00:19:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and it's funny that cuz like whenever I think of Marvin the outback

[00:19:09] [SPEAKER_02]: I think of Marvin the Martian like because I grew up watching

[00:19:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Looney Tunes and so like the word Marvin the first character that pops into my head is Marvin the Martian

[00:19:21] [SPEAKER_02]: but you know, it's good explaining that because it makes sense as to

[00:19:25] [SPEAKER_02]: You know it being white and then kind of more your personality and everything and how the name came about

[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_02]: But I like that. That's a good name and very fitting

[00:19:35] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah

[00:19:35] [SPEAKER_04]: I do get Marvin the Martian a lot and then some people until I started having me in pictures thought I was a guy which

[00:19:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Is kind of funny

[00:19:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so when you saw that that account with the woman that did the little build with the platform

[00:19:49] [SPEAKER_02]: And you started kind of fixating on that. Did you know anything about Subaru before then?

[00:19:54] [SPEAKER_04]: No, it's kind of funny because I I'm not a very mechanically inclined inclined person or a car person at all

[00:20:01] [SPEAKER_04]: Which is funny because my whole family has like a racing background my sister and stepdad

[00:20:06] [SPEAKER_04]: They grew up. Well, my stepdad came in our lives and then maybe a year later is probably eight or nine

[00:20:11] [SPEAKER_04]: And and my older sister were working on a pit crew for a top fuel drag boat Wow

[00:20:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Nice, so it's kind of that's cool

[00:20:20] [SPEAKER_04]: If you know that yeah

[00:20:21] [SPEAKER_04]: if you know the top fuel dragsters

[00:20:22] [SPEAKER_04]: It's the same engine but put it in a boat and they're doing like quarter mile down a river or lake going

[00:20:29] [SPEAKER_04]: 250 to 60 something miles per hour. That's crazy

[00:20:33] [SPEAKER_04]: So, yeah, so

[00:20:34] [SPEAKER_04]: I've been around car stuff

[00:20:36] [SPEAKER_04]: But I so I grew up either hanging out in the shops with my stepdad and my sister

[00:20:40] [SPEAKER_04]: I wasn't really into it as much as they were

[00:20:42] [SPEAKER_04]: Grew up going to NHRA drag races every year. That's the only sport. I really care about

[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm not big into other sports, but that we do every year. So I was surrounded by motorsports and car stuff. I never got that

[00:20:56] [SPEAKER_04]: gene or

[00:20:58] [SPEAKER_04]: Interest in learning the mechanical stuff. So when I got my car, I didn't really know anything about Subarus

[00:21:04] [SPEAKER_04]: I just saw that car was like I want that and then was kind of learning through

[00:21:08] [SPEAKER_04]: The community and through posts and things like that and through the podcast about oh, cool

[00:21:13] [SPEAKER_04]: I took to the reliable car and

[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_04]: You know, I picked a car that people really love and the safety features and things like that

[00:21:19] [SPEAKER_04]: But honestly, it wasn't at the forefront of my mind

[00:21:21] [SPEAKER_04]: I was just like this looks pretty and I want to make it into a camper and it was kind of

[00:21:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Just that so what year is it and what trim level because you said you've

[00:21:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Discovered what color and what trim level you wanted? So what year and trim level is it?

[00:21:36] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so it's a 2019 and it's actually I wanted a limited but I got the base model and

[00:21:42] [SPEAKER_04]: I got it probably at the worst time to get a car which was 2021, you know mid to

[00:21:49] [SPEAKER_04]: Talent of the pandemic so there wasn't a lot out there

[00:21:52] [SPEAKER_04]: Prices are really high

[00:21:53] [SPEAKER_04]: Just from shipping and having things overseas. I knew because I wanted the white

[00:21:59] [SPEAKER_04]: Exterior with a black interior and my area

[00:22:02] [SPEAKER_04]: There was mostly if you want if they were the white ones it always have the tan interior, which I never liked

[00:22:08] [SPEAKER_04]: so that's one of the reasons it took me so long to find a car because there were very limited and

[00:22:14] [SPEAKER_04]: The availability for what I wanted

[00:22:17] [SPEAKER_04]: So it took a little while finding them and I was I probably overpaid for it because it was very rare

[00:22:22] [SPEAKER_04]: But I was just like I want this car and I want it. It's mine

[00:22:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but when you're searching for a car something that you really really want and something that it's a big deal

[00:22:31] [SPEAKER_02]: You know a car. I mean, I'm sure for some people it's like oh, I just need another car

[00:22:36] [SPEAKER_02]: I need to find something but

[00:22:38] [SPEAKER_02]: for a lot of people buying a car is you know, it's a big purchase it's a big deal and

[00:22:44] [SPEAKER_02]: You know you want to find something that you're gonna be happy with long term, you know

[00:22:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Unless it's like a lease and you're like, oh in three years

[00:22:51] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm just gonna give it up and go to another car

[00:22:53] [SPEAKER_02]: But for something that you purchase

[00:22:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Something that you want to build out something that you're gonna spend a lot of time in you want it to be

[00:23:01] [SPEAKER_02]: What you really want and so paying a little bit more sometimes is worth it and you know, that's okay

[00:23:09] [SPEAKER_04]: yeah, exactly and I

[00:23:11] [SPEAKER_04]: This was my first big girl purchase so I had never bought a car before I had a previous car that I was

[00:23:18] [SPEAKER_04]: Fortunate and lucky enough to have given to me. But yeah, it was my first big girl purchase

[00:23:23] [SPEAKER_04]: So I'm like if I'm spending money on this I'm gonna get what I want

[00:23:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah

[00:23:27] [SPEAKER_02]: And so like when you started connecting with people and you were going through Instagram and you were listening to the podcast

[00:23:34] [SPEAKER_02]: You're learning about mods and stuff

[00:23:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Did you start building a list of what you wanted to do and then what was your first mod

[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so I don't remember exactly when but there was the shift of okay. I'm getting this car to

[00:23:51] [SPEAKER_04]: Just go camping at parks and go hiking to

[00:23:55] [SPEAKER_04]: These cars look like they're having fun. I want to do that

[00:23:59] [SPEAKER_04]: So I didn't have it first when I saw it

[00:24:01] [SPEAKER_04]: I just I think I fell into the trap of these cars look really cool

[00:24:04] [SPEAKER_04]: I want to do all those things even though they're the you know

[00:24:07] [SPEAKER_04]: The biggest tricked-out builds that spend a lot of time and money investing in the mods

[00:24:12] [SPEAKER_04]: so I think

[00:24:13] [SPEAKER_04]: Finding the podcast was a really great

[00:24:17] [SPEAKER_04]: Educational tool and resource for someone that was just getting into the community

[00:24:20] [SPEAKER_04]: To learn about what they actually need to get started and what's necessary

[00:24:26] [SPEAKER_04]: So, you know again

[00:24:30] [SPEAKER_04]: Mechanically inclined and I don't know about tires and wheels and all that and what's best because there's differing opinions

[00:24:35] [SPEAKER_04]: But you know, I've listened. I think I've been just every episode of the podcast once I found it for a few weeks

[00:24:41] [SPEAKER_04]: And that's kind of how I figured out

[00:24:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Okay

[00:24:43] [SPEAKER_04]: if I want to get trailing like tires are first and foremost and

[00:24:46] [SPEAKER_04]: The ones that got mentioned a lot of the ones that I have now which are the Falcon Wild Peak 80 trails

[00:24:51] [SPEAKER_04]: so having a lot of people back those up and hearing that

[00:24:56] [SPEAKER_04]: You know, they stand up is there's a really good resource for someone that's like

[00:25:00] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know where to choose and I have indecision paralysis. So yeah, that's really helpful

[00:25:05] [SPEAKER_02]: I think a lot of people face that too because I mean like when I got into it

[00:25:09] [SPEAKER_02]: I didn't know anything either. I mean, you know with my other cars. I've changed the oil

[00:25:13] [SPEAKER_02]: I know how to change a tire and I had to do basic things

[00:25:15] [SPEAKER_02]: But when it comes to like, oh if I want to go off-road you should you know, just have a good tire

[00:25:22] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, I didn't really know what tires were best

[00:25:24] [SPEAKER_02]: and so same thing for me like I you know, of course, I didn't have the podcast to listen to but I

[00:25:30] [SPEAKER_02]: You know was just asking people around the community through Instagram and got a lot of suggestions on things

[00:25:36] [SPEAKER_02]: So, you know having a resource like the podcast

[00:25:39] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure it was really good to hear all sorts of different opinions and hear from like you said with the Falcon Wild Peaks you hear

[00:25:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Something over and over and over again. It's like oh, I'm guessing that's probably pretty good because a lot of people are using it

[00:25:54] [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly and then I don't know if it's considered an actual

[00:25:57] [SPEAKER_04]: mod, but my first thing I did once I got the car was Plasti dip the grill and all the emblems and then

[00:26:05] [SPEAKER_04]: Ordered the Orsini vinyl and designs emblem overlays

[00:26:09] [SPEAKER_04]: Because they're I think the page was ice track or something

[00:26:12] [SPEAKER_04]: But one of the early pages that I fell in love with they are similar to mine where it's the white with the blue

[00:26:17] [SPEAKER_04]: Accents and blue is one of my favorite colors. So I just wanted to because I also don't like the shiny chrome

[00:26:22] [SPEAKER_04]: I just wanted to get rid of all the chrome. Yeah, get black add the blue accent. So that was the first

[00:26:29] [SPEAKER_04]: more

[00:26:30] [SPEAKER_04]: Visual mod that I did it wasn't you know

[00:26:32] [SPEAKER_04]: It was more vanity than anything and I wanted it to look cute

[00:26:35] [SPEAKER_04]: That I could afford to do and then the first official

[00:26:39] [SPEAKER_04]: mod was probably either the mud flaps or the tires and I did the thing that a lot of people do where

[00:26:47] [SPEAKER_04]: Again, not knowing much about cars. I assume the spare in the back was both

[00:26:52] [SPEAKER_04]: Wheels and everything so I when I was saving up for my car in the down payment

[00:26:57] [SPEAKER_04]: I also once I knew I was gonna start trailing and get into the community

[00:27:00] [SPEAKER_04]: It's also saving for tires at the same time because I knew once I had a car payment

[00:27:04] [SPEAKER_04]: It was gonna be harder to save up for the tires

[00:27:06] [SPEAKER_04]: so they've for all that at once and then went to get the tires and found out that the

[00:27:14] [SPEAKER_04]: Tire doesn't have a wheel to go with it because it was just a donut in the back. So so were you

[00:27:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Attempting to buy five tires and not realizing at the time that the fifth one wasn't a full-size

[00:27:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Yep. Okay. Gotcha. Yeah

[00:27:30] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah a couple months later. Like I said my sister she's but she's awesome and she does the camper van life

[00:27:37] [SPEAKER_04]: She's been super supportive. She's still

[00:27:39] [SPEAKER_04]: She lives out in Texas right now and she's still working on pit crews for drag boats and a top fuel funny car

[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_04]: So she was really supportive and got me my five tires that Christmas so I didn't have to wait. Oh, that's awesome

[00:27:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Yay, see a four sisters. Yes, that's super cool

[00:27:58] [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I mean like with the decals

[00:28:01] [SPEAKER_02]: You're not modifying your car as far as like, you know changing something out but it is

[00:28:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Modifying the look so I guess technically it could be considered a mod

[00:28:13] [SPEAKER_02]: and I mean like you were saying that you know, you needed something affordable and decals and overlays are like such a great tool to

[00:28:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Add to your car to personalize it that's that can be very inexpensive

[00:28:27] [SPEAKER_02]: especially if you're not sure exactly what you want to do as far as you know,

[00:28:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Actual mods are concerned and I think a lot of people go that way especially like plastic dipping too because that's cheap and easy to do

[00:28:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly and like I said one thing that helped with listening to the podcast was

[00:28:45] [SPEAKER_04]: You you can fall into the trap of wanting everything

[00:28:48] [SPEAKER_04]: But then you have to consider

[00:28:50] [SPEAKER_04]: How often you're trailing versus daily driving where you're going where you have access to the type of trails you want to do so you can

[00:28:56] [SPEAKER_04]: fall into I'm gonna get all this cool gear and all this mods and do it all at once and

[00:29:01] [SPEAKER_04]: Break the bank and then you realize it's better to go

[00:29:04] [SPEAKER_04]: As you go on trails and learn more you can learn specifically what your needs are gonna be what is necessary

[00:29:10] [SPEAKER_04]: What's not because there's a lot I want but I don't need

[00:29:15] [SPEAKER_04]: So

[00:29:16] [SPEAKER_04]: it's just a learning curve so I my

[00:29:19] [SPEAKER_04]: suggestion is to

[00:29:21] [SPEAKER_04]: You know if you

[00:29:23] [SPEAKER_04]: Don't know what you want to need

[00:29:24] [SPEAKER_04]: But you know visually what you want to look at just kind of invest in the aesthetics of it if you want to first

[00:29:29] [SPEAKER_04]: Because then once you learn and go on trails you'll learn what you need and what you don't need and you can

[00:29:34] [SPEAKER_04]: That'll probably reflect on your mobs list and you'll probably cross some things out

[00:29:37] [SPEAKER_04]: You know maybe you just follow some companies later on and they do a giveaway and you can get it for free

[00:29:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly. Yep. So what what would you say of the mods that you've done so far is your favorite?

[00:29:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I'd say

[00:29:51] [SPEAKER_04]: Favorite would probably be a tie between the tires and skid plates

[00:29:58] [SPEAKER_04]: So I have the primitive racing skid plates, I have the front and mid I don't have the rear one but

[00:30:04] [SPEAKER_04]: For someone who has a lot of anxiety and it's very new to the off-roading world just having that protection underneath. It's very helpful

[00:30:12] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm not worrying as much as like oh

[00:30:15] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm breaking something every time I'm going out just because you hear a little ding the first time I went out seriously trailing

[00:30:20] [SPEAKER_04]: I was with a carry mountain SUV and Sierra SLT track. Oh, yeah

[00:30:24] [SPEAKER_02]: People that are just like going full send on stuff

[00:30:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah, that was my first real trailing experience. I don't think Carrie told Sierra that that was my first trailing experience

[00:30:34] [SPEAKER_04]: so we were going up into the mountains of Tahoe and I just got my skid plates no lift and

[00:30:42] [SPEAKER_04]: You know, it was the first time I learned to air down and how to air down and why you're air down

[00:30:46] [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you to carry who I call trail mom

[00:30:48] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and then the skid plates were definitely

[00:30:52] [SPEAKER_04]: Needed on that because I would just hear dings every now and then and be freaking out and on the comms

[00:30:57] [SPEAKER_04]: I just feel like Carrie what's that sound? We don't put that was the game of the day

[00:31:00] [SPEAKER_04]: It's just being like what's that sound? Did I break something and she's like no you're fine

[00:31:04] [SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, definitely the skid plates and then just the tires as well because all these trails

[00:31:09] [SPEAKER_04]: I would not be able to do if I didn't have the tires and then just where I'm at in the winter when it's

[00:31:14] [SPEAKER_04]: Really rainy, you know, we have this like roads the back roads

[00:31:18] [SPEAKER_04]: And just knowing like one that Subarus are really safe and capable but having the extra protection of the tires and knowing that

[00:31:25] [SPEAKER_04]: They make that more capable as well and having that safety piece of mind was really important and really helpful and beneficial

[00:31:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, definitely. So yeah, cuz I mean I

[00:31:37] [SPEAKER_02]: think if you're very new and you are able to get to places that aren't like super technical then

[00:31:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Skid plates and tires would probably be you know, the best first bet for

[00:31:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Mods and then if you're going to places where you don't necessarily need skid plates

[00:31:56] [SPEAKER_02]: But tires could be helpful like if it's just some kind of terrain changes and stuff

[00:32:01] [SPEAKER_02]: But you're not gonna be driving over big rocks or anything

[00:32:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Just tires would be good and then you can get skid plates later to challenge yourself more to go to a little bit more

[00:32:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Technical spots, but so we know that you've got the tires and the skid plates

[00:32:16] [SPEAKER_02]: But what what are some other big mods that you've done?

[00:32:21] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so I have like I said the Falcon Wildpeak AT trails and then the wheels I got after that were the KMC bullies

[00:32:28] [SPEAKER_04]: I love those got their rock blocks mud flaps

[00:32:31] [SPEAKER_04]: Which are the blue to match all the highlights on my car. So love the look of that

[00:32:35] [SPEAKER_04]: I've got it's interesting because I kind of joke that my half my car is a Frankenstein monster of everybody's sloppy seconds

[00:32:42] [SPEAKER_04]: So I've gotten a few mods from some people that either sold it to me for dirt cheap or just gifted it to me

[00:32:51] [SPEAKER_04]: so I just want to go off and say how

[00:32:55] [SPEAKER_04]: Grateful I am and how supportive this community is because I've met people where the day I met them

[00:33:01] [SPEAKER_04]: They gave me some mods and we're just like hey, I have this sitting in my garage. You can have that so

[00:33:07] [SPEAKER_04]: One was the nightlight bar from carry mountain Suvi. Then I also got the Yakima mega warrior cargo basket up top

[00:33:16] [SPEAKER_04]: The day I met Anthony, he's the one I was talking about. We were talking about what mods I was wanting next

[00:33:21] [SPEAKER_04]: I think we were at a Suvi

[00:33:24] [SPEAKER_04]: Best pre meet before everybody was leaving the Bay Area and I met him that day and I was just telling him like I'd love

[00:33:29] [SPEAKER_04]: But I can't really afford one right now and it was like I have it in my garage. Do you want it?

[00:33:34] [SPEAKER_04]: So I asked him yeah how much he's like, do you want it?

[00:33:39] [SPEAKER_04]: Awesome. Yeah, and then two three weeks later

[00:33:42] [SPEAKER_04]: We went to this Halloween me and then he came to my house and with a few people and installed it right there for me

[00:33:48] [SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, just letting people know what mods you want might benefit you in unexpected ways

[00:33:54] [SPEAKER_04]: besides that I've got the

[00:33:57] [SPEAKER_04]: Spare tire up top on the basket. So I just have that strapped up with the Rhino straps again

[00:34:03] [SPEAKER_04]: I got some blue ones that match my car because I like it to be pretty

[00:34:07] [SPEAKER_04]: I've got the

[00:34:09] [SPEAKER_04]: Diode dynamics

[00:34:11] [SPEAKER_04]: FS3 LED fog lights and

[00:34:13] [SPEAKER_04]: then I don't remember the company, but I got my awning from you and

[00:34:19] [SPEAKER_04]: even with shipping from Texas to California and

[00:34:23] [SPEAKER_04]: The discount that I'm grateful to you for giving me it still saved me some cash on a full set or full price

[00:34:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think it's a body armor 4x4

[00:34:31] [SPEAKER_02]: This is what it was. Yeah

[00:34:34] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah, I mean like my

[00:34:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Rooftop basket that I had before when after I got my spider no drill roof rack. I ended up

[00:34:41] [SPEAKER_02]: gifting that to somebody here in Houston to Ron and then I

[00:34:48] [SPEAKER_02]: The crossbars that I had on before I sold them to somebody for like really really cheap

[00:34:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Because I didn't want to just give them away because they were really really nice

[00:34:56] [SPEAKER_02]: but you know, I didn't also didn't want to try to like make money on them and

[00:35:01] [SPEAKER_02]: then I think that might be the only things that I've given away or

[00:35:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Given to somebody else now

[00:35:09] [SPEAKER_02]: I have a tire carrier on top of my car and it's I think it's a Yakima tire carrier and I got that from

[00:35:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Go trekking out in California because we were chatting about Christmas gifts what we were gonna do

[00:35:23] [SPEAKER_02]: And I said, I really want this Yakima tire carrier, but it's all sold out and he's like why have one in my garage

[00:35:29] [SPEAKER_02]: I'll sell it to you for like 60 bucks. I'm like, okay sold

[00:35:32] [SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, I saw that in the patreon chat and you beat me to it because I was gonna message him, too

[00:35:39] [SPEAKER_02]: So, but yeah, I mean it's it's so cool that you can you know meet up with other people and

[00:35:45] [SPEAKER_02]: You start talking about stuff and people are like, oh I have an extra one of those here

[00:35:50] [SPEAKER_02]: You can have it or I'll sell the teeth really cheap and it's just so great

[00:35:53] [SPEAKER_02]: How the community kind of comes together for each other like that

[00:35:57] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, definitely and I'd say people that are new to the community can't afford all these mods that really want to get out there

[00:36:04] [SPEAKER_04]: you know getting invested in the community making connections doing some networking or even just throwing up your stories like

[00:36:10] [SPEAKER_04]: Saying what you're looking for just wanting to get opinions on things

[00:36:14] [SPEAKER_04]: I've been really fortunate and lucky enough to meet

[00:36:17] [SPEAKER_04]: So many amazing generous supportive people that I let like I said with Anthony

[00:36:21] [SPEAKER_04]: I just let it be known what I'm looking for and put it out into the universe and

[00:36:26] [SPEAKER_04]: Everyone that's been a little bit more in the community and spent more money and time and been invested in it

[00:36:31] [SPEAKER_04]: They want people to succeed and they want them to you know thrive in this community

[00:36:36] [SPEAKER_04]: And they know what it's like to want to have all these mods and not be able to afford them and they just get excited

[00:36:42] [SPEAKER_04]: About your builds and some people are really awesome and just want to do what they can to support you. So

[00:36:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and like for me, I I think it was maybe a couple of weeks ago or three weeks ago

[00:36:53] [SPEAKER_02]: I was driving around I started to hear a squeal with my brakes and I'm like

[00:36:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Probably time to get some new brakes soon

[00:37:00] [SPEAKER_02]: And so I posted in my stories and was asking people, you know

[00:37:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Which ones I should get and I had several people comment and I had you know

[00:37:10] [SPEAKER_02]: one person say this another person say that another person say this and I had quite a few people say just get the OEM brakes because

[00:37:16] [SPEAKER_02]: They've lasted you this long and you know, you know, it's like OEM genuine Subaru parts

[00:37:21] [SPEAKER_02]: So that's what I did and I have the front

[00:37:25] [SPEAKER_02]: rotors and I need to go pick up the rear rotors from the parts department because they finally came in and

[00:37:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Then I'll eventually get the pads, but they haven't squealed ever since then

[00:37:34] [SPEAKER_02]: So I guess they're still good and I'm not gonna change them out until I really need to but it's nice knowing that I already have

[00:37:40] [SPEAKER_02]: The parts but you know, I put it up in my stories asking for advice and I got it

[00:37:45] [SPEAKER_02]: So it's nice that again how people come around and help each other out and are excited for each other's mods

[00:37:52] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, definitely and that's just something I think I've said it already

[00:37:55] [SPEAKER_04]: but I'm gonna just yell it from the roctors that one of the things that I love about finding your podcast is

[00:38:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Just how it made everybody seem very welcoming and open to contact. I

[00:38:09] [SPEAKER_04]: You know, like I said, I wasn't really interacting with anybody in the beginning

[00:38:12] [SPEAKER_04]: I was the unofficial Suvi stalker and just following all these pages and the more I listened to your podcast

[00:38:17] [SPEAKER_04]: there were

[00:38:18] [SPEAKER_04]: Over across the board just people saying if you've got a question reach out and it could be someone with 500 followers

[00:38:24] [SPEAKER_04]: It could be someone with 40,000 followers

[00:38:27] [SPEAKER_04]: Everybody's just really welcoming and supportive and wants to help other people learn and grow. So I was

[00:38:33] [SPEAKER_04]: messaging so many people and I'm that person that I'm not afraid to ask a stupid question because it's not stupid if I don't know

[00:38:39] [SPEAKER_04]: The answer so

[00:38:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. Yeah, so I'd ask people like I can't remember the account

[00:38:44] [SPEAKER_04]: But I asked one person who had like tens of thousands of followers and I'm like, hey

[00:38:47] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what Plasti Dip is or what it is or how to apply it

[00:38:51] [SPEAKER_04]: Can you explain those how hard is it to take off and you know, just questions that you don't know because

[00:38:57] [SPEAKER_04]: Everyone starts at a different place. No one's gonna make you feel bad for not knowing anything

[00:39:01] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm that person that means where I hear people talking about

[00:39:05] [SPEAKER_04]: Mods and what they're doing and mechanical stuff and they're like, oh I'm doing this and I'm like, what does that mean?

[00:39:10] [SPEAKER_04]: And then they explain it. I'm like, I don't understand three of the words in your explanation

[00:39:13] [SPEAKER_04]: Can you break that down to me?

[00:39:14] [SPEAKER_04]: Like I want to learn and there more than I have you to know and makes you feel bad

[00:39:18] [SPEAKER_04]: That you don't know something so I just always tell people ask the stupid questions

[00:39:24] [SPEAKER_04]: Just learn and people are really wanting to help learn and support especially in this community

[00:39:28] [SPEAKER_04]: if you ask people questions, they get really excited to like educate you and talk about it even more and

[00:39:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. Yeah. I mean I changed out my pitch stop a while back. I didn't even know what it was

[00:39:40] [SPEAKER_02]: I just I think I saw it or heard it somewhere and I'm like, what is it pitch stop?

[00:39:44] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't even know what that is

[00:39:45] [SPEAKER_02]: So I had to Google it look it up and everything

[00:39:47] [SPEAKER_02]: And so now I have a melee pitch stop in in my car and it basically it's like this piece that

[00:39:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Attaches the I guess like the front part of the engine compartment to the engine

[00:40:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Itself and it helps keep it in place and rigid

[00:40:04] [SPEAKER_02]: so but it was easy to change out like I thought it was gonna be hard and

[00:40:08] [SPEAKER_02]: It was easy to do and my son helped me out and it was something fun to do together

[00:40:12] [SPEAKER_02]: But you know, I mean it's one of those things where it's like

[00:40:14] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if I can do this and then when somebody explained it to me. I was like, oh that's easy

[00:40:19] [SPEAKER_02]: You just and take this part off undo some bolts and switch out the OEM one with the new part. Okay, cool

[00:40:25] [SPEAKER_04]: I can do that. Yeah, and I didn't even know what that was. So you just taught me something new again. See there you go

[00:40:31] [SPEAKER_02]: so

[00:40:32] [SPEAKER_02]: You said that you you know were thinking like oh I want to get this

[00:40:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Or are this do you still have like a pretty long mod list of things that you

[00:40:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Want to get and are there things that you're like, okay. I kind of need to get that but I can't yet

[00:40:50] [SPEAKER_04]: There's more that I need me there's more that I'd like

[00:40:54] [SPEAKER_04]: The one I've been saying forever that I want to do that. I've just been lazy not been doing it was the chrome delete

[00:41:00] [SPEAKER_04]: around the windows

[00:41:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I'm wanting to do that but it's it's just time-consuming and then I've also got some chronic pain in both my arms

[00:41:09] [SPEAKER_04]: so doing that all at once is

[00:41:11] [SPEAKER_04]: You know a little bit of a challenge to the limbs

[00:41:15] [SPEAKER_04]: But I'm still deciding if I want to do the I think it's the crux motor

[00:41:20] [SPEAKER_04]: Sports kit or there's like a kit that you can get for your specific model or just do plasti dip

[00:41:25] [SPEAKER_04]: But I've always joked. I'm like maybe if it's like less time-consuming and less stress on the arms

[00:41:29] [SPEAKER_04]: I'll just do one window over time and just block it out. So

[00:41:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Or just like the two fronts and then do the two backs or something, you know, exactly

[00:41:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so that's been on my list, but eventually I'll get it done

[00:41:41] [SPEAKER_04]: And then I don't know if it's a mod but more gear the weather tech floor liners just because on my trip

[00:41:47] [SPEAKER_04]: It's all cloth and I've gotten so much dirt mud water sand inside my car

[00:41:53] [SPEAKER_02]: So do you have really helpful do you not have any

[00:41:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Floor mats that are rubber. You just have the cloth floor mats

[00:42:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, okay, because my son when I bought his at Outback for him

[00:42:06] [SPEAKER_02]: he just had the cloth cloth ones and his birthday was on the 14th and

[00:42:12] [SPEAKER_02]: His mom ended up buying because she was asking me

[00:42:15] [SPEAKER_02]: He's like hey, is there anything that he could use or wants for his car?

[00:42:18] [SPEAKER_02]: And I said well he could use some rubber floor mats

[00:42:22] [SPEAKER_02]: And so she bought him for him and I think they were like 80 bucks or their their OEM rubber floor mats

[00:42:27] [SPEAKER_02]: So they don't have as much coverage as the other ones because the weather techs are really nice

[00:42:31] [SPEAKER_02]: but at least it's better than the

[00:42:35] [SPEAKER_02]: It's better than a carpeted one. So might be an alternative in the meantime to just at least

[00:42:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Protect it from you know getting so much stuff in there

[00:42:44] [SPEAKER_04]: That's true. I'm not I kind of make a mess everywhere

[00:42:48] [SPEAKER_04]: You know having the scoop sides and scoops from the weather tech mats where it's like full coverage

[00:42:52] [SPEAKER_04]: It'll be easier, but those are nice

[00:42:54] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah

[00:42:54] [SPEAKER_04]: And then besides that I probably should get some recovery points at this point because I've gotten stuck twice

[00:42:59] [SPEAKER_04]: So we've had to use the little

[00:43:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Thing in the back which I didn't know was there

[00:43:03] [SPEAKER_04]: So that was another learning point so glad that

[00:43:06] [SPEAKER_04]: One of the people on the trail with us because I was the only Subaru that time

[00:43:09] [SPEAKER_04]: I got stuck worked for Subaru. So he knew that that was there and

[00:43:13] [SPEAKER_04]: then

[00:43:14] [SPEAKER_04]: besides that I'm

[00:43:17] [SPEAKER_04]: Debating on if I want to invest in building one of those PVC water tanks for the side

[00:43:23] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think it's Mako truck or someone like that. She's got the

[00:43:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Cross track with the little shark emblem on it

[00:43:30] [SPEAKER_04]: I saw it there some between building that are just getting one of the

[00:43:35] [SPEAKER_04]: Rinse rinse aid or rinse kit ones because I've been seeing it as a Costco markdown

[00:43:39] [SPEAKER_04]: But I'm not ashamed to say I'm one of those bougie campers that if it's more than two nights of camping

[00:43:45] [SPEAKER_04]: I want to wash my hair. I don't want to feel like a swamp witch. Oh

[00:43:49] [SPEAKER_02]: I love taking a shower so I totally get that. Yeah, I'll dip my hair in the river. I don't care

[00:43:54] [SPEAKER_04]: I just need to you know, I'll do a quick wash and then do a very

[00:43:59] [SPEAKER_04]: Interesting hair dry where I'll just turn my car on use the air vents to dry my hair because I've got the bangs so

[00:44:05] [SPEAKER_04]: Can get a little interesting

[00:44:06] [SPEAKER_04]: But yeah debating on building that or not and then also just for you know

[00:44:09] [SPEAKER_04]: If it's a really muddy trail and I want to just you know

[00:44:12] [SPEAKER_04]: Host down the wheel well, so it doesn't get all caked in and built in there would be really nice

[00:44:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's the hardest part is getting it out of there. That's

[00:44:22] [SPEAKER_02]: if it like if I go mudding and

[00:44:25] [SPEAKER_02]: It gets up in the wheel wells

[00:44:26] [SPEAKER_02]: And I don't have a spot too because there's this church down the road that collects water in the side of the parking lot

[00:44:32] [SPEAKER_02]: And I drive back and forth through there

[00:44:33] [SPEAKER_02]: but

[00:44:33] [SPEAKER_02]: If that if I can't if that's not available

[00:44:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Then I just hope that it'll rain soon because then if it's got if there's a pretty hard rain and I go driving

[00:44:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Just in the rain it rinses it all out. That's really nice. That's helpful

[00:44:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you nature for helping me, you know get the mud out of my wheel wells. We love the nature bath

[00:44:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah

[00:44:52] [SPEAKER_02]: So with your when you saw that car the first time and you saw the platform bed like that was your intent

[00:44:59] [SPEAKER_02]: So have you I guess you've just always slept in your Outback. So no tent company camping

[00:45:05] [SPEAKER_02]: It's always been in this inside the Outback and then I know you've kind of changed it since you first did it

[00:45:12] [SPEAKER_02]: So what is what has that been progression or what?

[00:45:15] [SPEAKER_02]: What has that progression been like of when you built your platform?

[00:45:20] [SPEAKER_02]: And kind of built it out for what you want to do to where it's at now

[00:45:24] [SPEAKER_04]: So for me, I did start off with a platform build

[00:45:28] [SPEAKER_04]: I built it with my stepdad and by with my stepdad

[00:45:31] [SPEAKER_04]: I mean I sanded and he did everything else because I'm not handy

[00:45:34] [SPEAKER_04]: So he's one of those dads that he's like, I will build anything so really grateful to him

[00:45:39] [SPEAKER_04]: So I kind of made it very similar to the platform that I saw in that picture. So it's a couple inches up

[00:45:46] [SPEAKER_04]: There was room for if you

[00:45:50] [SPEAKER_04]: What is it one of those target like storage vents? It's the really clear

[00:45:53] [SPEAKER_04]: Long yeah, that are short with the wheels

[00:45:56] [SPEAKER_04]: So I've made it so I could use that for closed storage on one side

[00:46:00] [SPEAKER_04]: It had a little divider in the middle and then on the other side

[00:46:03] [SPEAKER_04]: We my stepdad kind of rigged this little part where you can have a cutting board that pulls in and out

[00:46:08] [SPEAKER_04]: So you can use it for cutting board put a stove on or just to eat on which is really helpful

[00:46:14] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and then we kind of jimmied it to where you don't have to have the full platform

[00:46:20] [SPEAKER_04]: Extended the entire time so it was made in two pieces

[00:46:23] [SPEAKER_04]: To where we could take and stack so I could have the

[00:46:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Back passenger seats up if I wanted to and still

[00:46:32] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so we did it that way so again

[00:46:36] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know how his brain was able to figure that out from just a picture

[00:46:40] [SPEAKER_04]: But yeah, so we made it so we could stack and have storage

[00:46:43] [SPEAKER_04]: So that just lived in my car when I camp I would just put the seats down take the headrest out put the platform

[00:46:49] [SPEAKER_04]: and take the top one put it on the side and extend it and then I was covered in carpet and then I just got a

[00:46:56] [SPEAKER_04]: It was maybe like ninety ninety nine dollars three inch memory foam mattress topper from Amazon

[00:47:02] [SPEAKER_04]: And then I would just put that on top and when I wasn't using it, I just rolled it up through it in the closet

[00:47:08] [SPEAKER_04]: so it was a little more bougie camping than a lot of people do and I

[00:47:12] [SPEAKER_04]: Have no shame in saying I'm bougie car camper

[00:47:14] [SPEAKER_04]: So when I car camp, I just take all my bedding pillows

[00:47:19] [SPEAKER_04]: which for me I have like five that I'd take with me cuz I'm a pillow gal and

[00:47:24] [SPEAKER_04]: Then take my big thick Sherpa comforter and just use all that and be all cozy and comfy in the back

[00:47:29] [SPEAKER_04]: and I have my clothing storage underneath and

[00:47:32] [SPEAKER_04]: Then in my front I would just have my cooler and some gear

[00:47:35] [SPEAKER_04]: and

[00:47:36] [SPEAKER_04]: then that was good for I think I used the platform bed for about a year year and a half and

[00:47:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Then after a while and getting into my 30s

[00:47:43] [SPEAKER_04]: I kind of got tired because you know

[00:47:45] [SPEAKER_04]: there's not a lot of headroom in the outback compared to the Forester and

[00:47:48] [SPEAKER_04]: When I get in I get in from the side and there may be a foot of room with the platform to Wow

[00:47:55] [SPEAKER_04]: You know, I'd have to step on the step up

[00:47:59] [SPEAKER_04]: snake in like pretty much like yeah, I go in like a snake and get in and then pull the door shut and

[00:48:04] [SPEAKER_04]: After a while, like I'm too old for those

[00:48:07] [SPEAKER_04]: But it got the job done for a while

[00:48:11] [SPEAKER_04]: so then I

[00:48:13] [SPEAKER_04]: decided I wanted to get one of the

[00:48:16] [SPEAKER_04]: Air mattresses, so I ended up going with the Luna mattress just because I heard a lot of positive reviews

[00:48:21] [SPEAKER_04]: It was a little more expensive than what I wanted. I was looking at a different one

[00:48:25] [SPEAKER_04]: That was a lot more affordable

[00:48:26] [SPEAKER_04]: but

[00:48:27] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm that person where if I'm gonna spend money on something

[00:48:30] [SPEAKER_04]: I want it to be good and I don't mind investing in something more expensive. It's gonna last

[00:48:35] [SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely. Yeah, so I went with the Luna mattress sold the platform to somebody else that I

[00:48:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Met through one of the Facebook groups that was in the area

[00:48:44] [SPEAKER_04]: So she came and picked that up and then yeah just started with the Luna mattress. I have yet to

[00:48:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Sleep in the full version of the mattress

[00:48:52] [SPEAKER_04]: One of the things I really liked about the Luna was you can choose whether you want the full mattress or a half mattress

[00:48:58] [SPEAKER_04]: And when I got that

[00:49:00] [SPEAKER_04]: It was doing a lot of my camping it was either

[00:49:03] [SPEAKER_04]: We'd not have the greatest weather conditions. So it'd be either muddy or rainy where we were camping or

[00:49:09] [SPEAKER_04]: we'd be

[00:49:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Trailing camp at a site wake up eat breakfast pack up the cars go to the next spot trail all day

[00:49:17] [SPEAKER_04]: so I didn't want something that took a lot of

[00:49:19] [SPEAKER_04]: setup and breakdown and

[00:49:22] [SPEAKER_04]: Because of the weather I didn't want to leave all my gear out

[00:49:24] [SPEAKER_04]: So what I have been doing so far and eventually I'll do a spot where I can just

[00:49:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Flop at a campsite leave all my gear out weather's nice and that just fully extend the mattress

[00:49:34] [SPEAKER_04]: but normally I'll sleep with half the mattress blown up and then in the very very back closer to the seat the

[00:49:42] [SPEAKER_04]: Driver passenger seats. I'll have one of those Costco

[00:49:46] [SPEAKER_04]: storage containers with the yellow lids the black and yellow ones and that'll have all my

[00:49:51] [SPEAKER_04]: non perishable foods my camping gear and then

[00:49:54] [SPEAKER_04]: I'll have my Yeti cooler behind that and then on top of that

[00:49:59] [SPEAKER_04]: I'll have that clothing storage so it's I can keep all my gear to one side and then have the mattress on one side

[00:50:04] [SPEAKER_04]: Which is a tip I learned from Carrie Mountain sousie

[00:50:07] [SPEAKER_04]: So it's really good if you're just you and you don't want to pack things up and again with my arms and stuff

[00:50:12] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't want to lift gear in and out and I'm sure I could have help if I asked people but it's a lot easier and

[00:50:18] [SPEAKER_04]: Better for if you're just up and on the go or not wanting to move things around

[00:50:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and that's very convenient to to have to have it set up to where you can only

[00:50:28] [SPEAKER_02]: You know or you can just air up one side and then have the other side because that's what I did when I went to

[00:50:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Subaru flat fest in 2022 is

[00:50:37] [SPEAKER_02]: I took the luno mattress and I had all my stuff on one side and then blew up the other side and

[00:50:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Realized like for one night of camping that I brought way too much stuff

[00:50:48] [SPEAKER_02]: But but I was also staying in Airbnbs on the way up there

[00:50:51] [SPEAKER_02]: So I had other stuff with me

[00:50:53] [SPEAKER_02]: But that's the only thing that I've never really liked about camping because when my son was in Cub Scouts

[00:50:58] [SPEAKER_02]: we would go camping for like a couple of nights and

[00:51:02] [SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, I'm packing like all this stuff to go camping and it just seemed like a pain to just

[00:51:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Have all that stuff to pack up and everything

[00:51:11] [SPEAKER_02]: That's not that I don't like like once I get out there and we're camping and you know

[00:51:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Cooking food and hanging out and you've got the campfire like that's all awesome. But like

[00:51:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Packing everything up and then having to unpack and everything that's that's always a pain but it's all worth it

[00:51:26] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, definitely

[00:51:27] [SPEAKER_04]: and I'm kind of historically known as that person who over packs for everything as I said, I'm a little anxious and

[00:51:34] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm not first that I will pack clothes for every scenario in every situation. I also worked 10 years in childcare

[00:51:40] [SPEAKER_04]: So I'm that person I'm like anybody need q-tips. Anybody need wipes? I've got it all got the whole pharmacy in my bag

[00:51:47] [SPEAKER_04]: So if anyone needs that

[00:51:49] [SPEAKER_04]: But yeah, and then back to the question about what mods I need I always go trailing with at least one person and

[00:51:56] [SPEAKER_04]: If you're trying to save money, but want to hit all these trails

[00:51:59] [SPEAKER_04]: I suggest finding friends and people that already have all that. So it's like, you know, people say I need traction boards

[00:52:05] [SPEAKER_04]: It's like everybody I trail with has traction boards or you need this and everybody I know has that so

[00:52:10] [SPEAKER_04]: It saved me some money going out with my friends

[00:52:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly. That's a very good way to look at it

[00:52:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Is if you're always going out with people that have things that you may possibly need then why do you need it?

[00:52:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Why spend the money? That's not like that. It's a good way to put it. So

[00:52:27] [SPEAKER_02]: With with going out and camping. I know you said that you earlier you haven't been out in a while

[00:52:32] [SPEAKER_02]: But like how often have you gone out camping when you've gone and then where are some of your favorite spots to go camping?

[00:52:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah

[00:52:41] [SPEAKER_04]: This year I haven't gone camping as much I've only done one trip back in April, but it was like the trip

[00:52:47] [SPEAKER_04]: I wanted to do so I was out at you Sol Beach or you saw I'm not quite sure how to say it

[00:52:51] [SPEAKER_04]: But that was up in the Redwoods. So that was the one time this year

[00:52:56] [SPEAKER_04]: But I think in the previous two years I've gone at least four to five times

[00:53:02] [SPEAKER_04]: I've never camped at the same spot and trailed at the same spot once I've gotten really into it

[00:53:06] [SPEAKER_04]: but

[00:53:06] [SPEAKER_04]: I'd say my favorite places that I've been

[00:53:10] [SPEAKER_04]: Was that first really big trailing trip? I think I told you with Carrie and Sierra

[00:53:15] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, like Tahoe area. So that was cool. Just because the Tahoe National Forest area is gorgeous

[00:53:22] [SPEAKER_04]: I

[00:53:23] [SPEAKER_04]: Have no idea where we went because that was before I discovered all the apps where you can log your trails and trips and everything

[00:53:29] [SPEAKER_04]: So I'll pass Sierra where that was again

[00:53:30] [SPEAKER_04]: But it's you know, one of those that the locals know and you it's not well advertised

[00:53:36] [SPEAKER_04]: but we went to this one campsite where

[00:53:39] [SPEAKER_04]: You know, it was really broken up with rocks and things like that. And I'm just like Sierra. Where are you taking us?

[00:53:45] [SPEAKER_04]: It was the first one of the first real night trails that I've done

[00:53:48] [SPEAKER_04]: No idea where we were what direction we were going and then we just pull up to this campsite

[00:53:53] [SPEAKER_04]: That it was almost a full moon. We were surrounded by water

[00:53:58] [SPEAKER_04]: We're the only ones there and it was gorgeous

[00:54:01] [SPEAKER_04]: And then one of my favorite things now is doing a night trail to a spot and then waking up

[00:54:06] [SPEAKER_04]: First thing in the morning and seeing the spot for the first time

[00:54:09] [SPEAKER_02]: So I yeah and being pleasantly surprised. I'm sure

[00:54:13] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so I had woken up before everybody else and it was starting to be sunrise and you just see it like we're surrounded by water

[00:54:21] [SPEAKER_04]: And then on the other side of the water

[00:54:22] [SPEAKER_04]: it's like a little river Creek around us and then there's just the trees and the sun's rising and

[00:54:29] [SPEAKER_04]: as the sun's rising all the greenery and all the surrounding trees are just

[00:54:33] [SPEAKER_04]: turning orange and it looks like they're being painted for autumn and it was just gorgeous and

[00:54:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so that was one of my favorite places to camp. And then my other I'd say is Mendocino National Forest

[00:54:45] [SPEAKER_04]: I've only been once I won't pick a few

[00:54:49] [SPEAKER_04]: Couple buddies, they're not Subaru. So ones are out for and ones at Tacoma know it's sacrilege talking about that on this podcast

[00:54:57] [SPEAKER_02]: That's okay

[00:54:58] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but it's also fun

[00:54:59] [SPEAKER_04]: I've been a few times where I've been the only Subaru and

[00:55:02] [SPEAKER_04]: It's been really awesome and then people being like oh and I realized I was capable Subaru. It's aren't unlike that

[00:55:08] [SPEAKER_04]: Especially when you learn from Carrie, so yeah, exactly

[00:55:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so that was another area and I want to get out that way more because it's probably two hours from where I am

[00:55:18] [SPEAKER_04]: a lot of the places that

[00:55:21] [SPEAKER_04]: Have really good trailing or just getting into the mountains, especially where the soccer nation or how people go

[00:55:26] [SPEAKER_04]: It's two hours for them. But to me for me, it's another two hours just to get to them

[00:55:31] [SPEAKER_04]: So, oh, it's four hour trips and with with my medical issues and not have and having limited time off and how expensive gases in

[00:55:39] [SPEAKER_04]: This area it's harder to get out to the areas that I want to go and have to be a little more selective. But

[00:55:45] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so I'd say Mendocino because it's closer and it's easy trails too there's nothing too complex

[00:55:50] [SPEAKER_04]: It's gorgeous views and when we went out the one time there wasn't a lot of people there

[00:55:55] [SPEAKER_04]: Which I guess is not as common, but it was all perfect conditions. Yeah worked out perfect for that trip

[00:56:02] [SPEAKER_02]: So when you do go out with other people do you kind of go out with a group of people

[00:56:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Consistently or you like you said mentioned earlier that trip you learn out with people that weren't Subaru's

[00:56:16] [SPEAKER_02]: But are you trying are you usually going out with the same people or is it always different?

[00:56:22] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's kind of different. So

[00:56:25] [SPEAKER_04]: There's a few people that I've been with multiple times when I first started getting into it

[00:56:30] [SPEAKER_04]: And not knowing people, you know, I wasn't gonna be like hey stranger. I'm gonna go with you to the woods and please don't murder me

[00:56:36] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but yeah, so a couple of the trips I went with the SACRO nation or Cal group

[00:56:42] [SPEAKER_04]: Which is awesome because you know having a group of people and especially a larger group, you know

[00:56:47] [SPEAKER_04]: Probably nothing shady is gonna happen and after meeting them at a couple meets. It was really nice and

[00:56:52] [SPEAKER_04]: Especially someone like I said, that's got some anxiety and doesn't know about trailing and stuff. It's I've really liked

[00:56:58] [SPEAKER_04]: the process of just

[00:57:00] [SPEAKER_04]: Having a group people saying we're gonna go here you want to come and you don't have to think about

[00:57:05] [SPEAKER_04]: You know the trails you have to think about the routes you're gonna take it's just you're along for the ride

[00:57:09] [SPEAKER_04]: Which has been really nice and what I prefer to do because I'm an overthinker and I don't know

[00:57:13] [SPEAKER_04]: How to do your navigation and all that. That's something I eventually want to learn but I'm trying to build up more

[00:57:19] [SPEAKER_04]: Comfort and just going on trails and getting that experience

[00:57:22] [SPEAKER_04]: So started off with the SACRO nation or Cal people and then you know

[00:57:26] [SPEAKER_04]: The groups are always just like whoever can come can come so there's always a variety of who is going on what trails and then

[00:57:32] [SPEAKER_04]: I started getting a little bit more interested in doing smaller groups, too

[00:57:36] [SPEAKER_04]: But I'd still do the big group

[00:57:37] [SPEAKER_04]: So I say the person I've gone on the most trips and trails with has been Anthony Judy the city

[00:57:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's become one of my closer car friends. He's one of my favorite people and they can use all right

[00:57:49] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah

[00:57:52] [SPEAKER_04]: Especially since he deserted us in California, but

[00:57:56] [SPEAKER_04]: yeah, and

[00:57:57] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so I've gone on the most trips with him and he's just one of those people that I always knew if there was a

[00:58:03] [SPEAKER_04]: Weekend, I wanted to go somewhere and had an idea

[00:58:05] [SPEAKER_04]: I could just hit him up and be like, hey you want to go and he'd always be down. So

[00:58:09] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah him and then I'd say other than that probably carry Mountain City. I've gone on a few trips with as well

[00:58:16] [SPEAKER_04]: Same thing if she is available because her availability is a little harder to pin down

[00:58:21] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, she was another person that's always down to do trips

[00:58:24] [SPEAKER_04]: And say over the last couple years

[00:58:26] [SPEAKER_04]: I just

[00:58:27] [SPEAKER_04]: meet people and want to get a small group together or I'd see people and meet him at meets and then

[00:58:32] [SPEAKER_04]: get to talk to them a little bit more and get to know them and that trip to Mendocino like I

[00:58:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Was my one buddy Shane I met him once or twice at a meet

[00:58:41] [SPEAKER_04]: but we didn't like talking out and then I had met our other friend who has the route for and

[00:58:48] [SPEAKER_04]: I've never been on a trip or trailing with them. So they're just like hey, we're going to the woods

[00:58:51] [SPEAKER_04]: Do you want to come so I did?

[00:58:53] [SPEAKER_04]: So, yeah, it's it's made me a lot I guess more trusting which I don't know if that's good or bad and a lot more

[00:59:00] [SPEAKER_04]: open to hanging out with different people and

[00:59:04] [SPEAKER_04]: different experiences

[00:59:04] [SPEAKER_04]: Which has been really nice because you get to see different people's camping experiences and back to what I said about people

[00:59:11] [SPEAKER_04]: If you don't have certain things and they do like I'm not I don't like to cook and I'm not one of those cook people

[00:59:16] [SPEAKER_04]: So I just bring my like adult Lunchables and non perishable foods when I'm camping

[00:59:19] [SPEAKER_04]: But a few friends that know that and they're just like hey I make extra food all the time

[00:59:24] [SPEAKER_04]: I'll just camp chef for you the whole weekend and I'll just throw a couple bucks even though they don't want it. Yeah

[00:59:29] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah

[00:59:31] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's good to trail with different people too because you can learn from different people

[00:59:36] [SPEAKER_02]: You can learn new things and different things that somebody else may not have been doing, you know on a trip

[00:59:41] [SPEAKER_02]: So it's gonna it's always a good experience and just just hanging around different people is fun, too

[00:59:47] [SPEAKER_02]: So, do you have a subi bestie I

[00:59:51] [SPEAKER_04]: Have a few CB besties

[00:59:54] [SPEAKER_04]: so

[00:59:54] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I'm gonna go gush on them for a little bit and make them uncomfortable and take some of me

[01:00:01] [SPEAKER_04]: So I know talked about her a million times but one of the first people I may not really connected with was Carrie

[01:00:08] [SPEAKER_04]: You know and CB

[01:00:10] [SPEAKER_04]: We both met at the Sakura Nation NorCal Halloween me. I think that was

[01:00:15] [SPEAKER_04]: 2021 and so yeah when I got my car I

[01:00:20] [SPEAKER_04]: Was kind of in talks with the Sakura Nation or how people and they were

[01:00:23] [SPEAKER_04]: You know, you got to come to your first meet as soon as you get your car

[01:00:26] [SPEAKER_04]: So I got my car mid-october two weeks later completely stock. No mods. No plus you do it for anything

[01:00:32] [SPEAKER_04]: I went to the Halloween me. I was super excited and I found out that was also carries first me and then

[01:00:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Roxanne's first meet as well

[01:00:40] [SPEAKER_04]: So

[01:00:42] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah met Carrie there we both really clicked I saw her car and thought it was the coolest thing ever because she had you know

[01:00:48] [SPEAKER_04]: Her rebel

[01:00:49] [SPEAKER_04]: Stuff going on and it just looked like completely different from anything. I'd seen in real life before

[01:00:55] [SPEAKER_04]: Just like it looks like a cool race car

[01:00:57] [SPEAKER_04]: but yeah

[01:00:58] [SPEAKER_04]: she was just super warm and friendly and I was just looked up to her just from seeing her page and

[01:01:03] [SPEAKER_04]: What she did and we both found out that we live within 20 30 minutes of each other. We both worked for the same County

[01:01:10] [SPEAKER_04]: So we just clicked because I hadn't really connected with anybody even online that lived in my area

[01:01:15] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm a little bit north of San Francisco

[01:01:17] [SPEAKER_04]: So a lot of the people were South Bay area or an hour and a half to two hours farther

[01:01:23] [SPEAKER_04]: So it's harder to connect with those people even on a personal level and hang out regularly

[01:01:27] [SPEAKER_04]: So we became quick friends and we would just meet up for lunch or dinner

[01:01:33] [SPEAKER_04]: Go drive 30 minutes off after work on a weekday to the Marin headlands and have a view of the bridge

[01:01:39] [SPEAKER_04]: the Golden Gate Bridge or go up into Mount Tam area

[01:01:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Which is one of the mountains on her logo and just watch the sunset and hang out. He is

[01:01:51] [SPEAKER_04]: Probably the person I look up to most in this community and I'm gonna try not to cry like you did

[01:01:57] [SPEAKER_04]: That's a guy she yeah, she I call her trail mom because she's always looking out for everybody

[01:02:04] [SPEAKER_04]: She's also that person that's like helping everybody with recovery

[01:02:07] [SPEAKER_04]: which is always funny with like this badass woman and helping like 20 year olds like get their cars unstuck and things like that, but

[01:02:13] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, she's taught me a lot and I felt really safe and comfortable with her

[01:02:18] [SPEAKER_04]: just telling her like what I'm wanting to learn and

[01:02:22] [SPEAKER_04]: My anxieties and my fears and my embarrassments and she's the one on that taco trip

[01:02:28] [SPEAKER_04]: That it was kind of that trial by fire where I wasn't anticipating doing that intensive a trail

[01:02:33] [SPEAKER_04]: Never having done it before

[01:02:36] [SPEAKER_04]: but she was really sweet that I didn't have a lift at the time and I didn't know anything about picking lines and was just

[01:02:43] [SPEAKER_04]: really uncomfortable and

[01:02:45] [SPEAKER_04]: She also having the same car as me sort of even though it's a little bit more modded out

[01:02:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Just seeing her car and being like well, she has what I have so I can theoretically do it and having that person. Yeah

[01:02:57] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that's gotten me in trouble a couple of times because I'm like, yeah

[01:03:00] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't have I don't have a lot of things

[01:03:01] [SPEAKER_04]: I probably should to do what she does but

[01:03:04] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah on that first trail

[01:03:05] [SPEAKER_04]: I didn't know anything and she taught me how to air down and why that's important and the different

[01:03:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Terrain that you need to air down for and how much she taught me about picking lines. So I was driving behind her and she

[01:03:17] [SPEAKER_04]: Told me just follow me. I'm gonna drive like I don't have a lift follow my lines

[01:03:23] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm gonna explain to them why I'm doing this. Oh, that's nice

[01:03:27] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so having someone that can teach you and you know at the first I was feeling really bad that like

[01:03:32] [SPEAKER_04]: oh, she's not gonna enjoy her trail because she can't fully send it how she wants but

[01:03:36] [SPEAKER_04]: Also just learning like someone because she's been in that scenario too is what she told me

[01:03:40] [SPEAKER_04]: She's like, you know, I've been new in this community

[01:03:43] [SPEAKER_04]: It's not always been the most welcoming and friendly and as a woman like I want to lift others up and build them up and

[01:03:49] [SPEAKER_04]: make them

[01:03:51] [SPEAKER_04]: Succeed and thrive in this community

[01:03:52] [SPEAKER_04]: So having someone that will put aside what they want to do and help you learn on a trip has been really

[01:03:58] [SPEAKER_04]: Really great. So she's I could I could literally gush on this entire podcast just about Gary

[01:04:03] [SPEAKER_04]: So she was one of my favorite people one of my CB besties

[01:04:07] [SPEAKER_04]: Anthony Judy the CB like I said, he will literally drive however long to help you move or

[01:04:14] [SPEAKER_04]: Give you free parts. I've spent months where every Friday

[01:04:18] [SPEAKER_04]: We had a garage day at his house and he lives two hours from me and I just get off work at 6 a.m

[01:04:22] [SPEAKER_04]: Or 6 p.m

[01:04:23] [SPEAKER_04]: Drive two hours to hang out for a garage night for a couple hours with all the buddies and just crash at his house

[01:04:29] [SPEAKER_04]: Either was that friend? That's like I said down to go anywhere

[01:04:32] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and he's just always helping people with their mods and builds and he's just a good guy overall

[01:04:38] [SPEAKER_04]: So I can't say enough about him. I know you've experienced

[01:04:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because the two times that I went out to California

[01:04:45] [SPEAKER_02]: He's the one that picked me up and he told me when he was still in, California

[01:04:49] [SPEAKER_02]: That he said

[01:04:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Anywhere that you want to fly into California? I'll be there to pick you up and I was like really and he was like

[01:04:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't care where it is

[01:04:57] [SPEAKER_02]: I'll

[01:04:58] [SPEAKER_02]: You fly into anywhere into California and I'll pick you up

[01:05:01] [SPEAKER_02]: And so he's just that kind of friend to go out of his way and you know

[01:05:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Make you feel comfortable and do whatever he can for you. And it's just yeah, he's a he's really good guy

[01:05:12] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and then another one who I met through Carrie the following Halloween after our Halloween meet

[01:05:18] [SPEAKER_04]: I organized a little trunk-or-treat at our local sewer dealership and Carrie brought along one of her newer friends

[01:05:23] [SPEAKER_04]: Which is now one of my best friends Kieran

[01:05:26] [SPEAKER_04]: He has some older and prezzas and as he called he lovingly calls them the shitboxes

[01:05:33] [SPEAKER_04]: so he

[01:05:35] [SPEAKER_04]: So yeah met him and he came to the trunk-or-treat him and his now wife

[01:05:40] [SPEAKER_04]: They give out like over 50 Hot Wheels to kids at the trunk-or-treat, which is awesome. Oh, that's cool

[01:05:45] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and he does the if you know what the gambler 500 is or if you've heard of that? Yeah, I've heard of it

[01:05:51] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah for those who don't know it's I describe it. I've never been but I've watched a lot of YouTube videos at his house

[01:05:59] [SPEAKER_04]: Where it's I say it's kind of like jackass meet Mad Max, but it's a trail clean up

[01:06:04] [SPEAKER_04]: so it's partnering with a lot of local parks and organizations and

[01:06:08] [SPEAKER_04]: You just do a bunch of giant trail cleanups in an area and get to party and Mad Max style so

[01:06:16] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I've been doing that. Yeah, so that's a big part, but he is also one of the ones that close it is close to me

[01:06:23] [SPEAKER_04]: So he lives out kind of more at the coast

[01:06:25] [SPEAKER_04]: So I mean carry I've hung out with him a bunch

[01:06:28] [SPEAKER_04]: I call him my big little brother now because he is

[01:06:30] [SPEAKER_04]: One of those big burly guys that has the RB F face if you know what that is, but complete teddy bear

[01:06:37] [SPEAKER_04]: Sorry, I said that

[01:06:39] [SPEAKER_04]: But yeah, he's like done a lot for me especially with my

[01:06:43] [SPEAKER_04]: medical issues and my arm issues that he does a lot of the maintenance on my car for me and

[01:06:49] [SPEAKER_04]: A lot of you know, if I have something I'm worried about what's going on

[01:06:52] [SPEAKER_04]: He'll take a look at it because he's also a mechanic

[01:06:54] [SPEAKER_04]: And yeah

[01:06:55] [SPEAKER_04]: I mean his wife kind of adopted me in a little bit and he was just another great guy and then

[01:07:00] [SPEAKER_04]: besides that Kai Scarlett outback and Kimmy

[01:07:04] [SPEAKER_04]: P&W pearl

[01:07:06] [SPEAKER_04]: Outback, they're probably the people I've talked to the most regularly and just connect with outside of the car community

[01:07:12] [SPEAKER_04]: we're always

[01:07:13] [SPEAKER_04]: you know sending each other memes and reels on Instagram and

[01:07:16] [SPEAKER_04]: They're kind of the people I can find in the most and talk about like what's going on with life and just checking in and

[01:07:21] [SPEAKER_04]: All that so yeah

[01:07:23] [SPEAKER_04]: a lot of my best friends have come out of this community and I know like a lot of people I also

[01:07:28] [SPEAKER_04]: I've always had like individual friends here and there but not

[01:07:32] [SPEAKER_04]: Friends that have been a group of friends and a collective group of friends that all know each other and hang out. So

[01:07:38] [SPEAKER_04]: That's been really awesome in this community to have for the first time

[01:07:41] [SPEAKER_04]: I know I think I've heard you say that as well and a lot of other people so yeah experience

[01:07:46] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah, because you go somewhere especially like you go to an event or something and

[01:07:52] [SPEAKER_02]: somebody that you've been talking to and

[01:07:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Somebody else that you've been talking to and somebody else that you've been talking to and somebody else that you've been talking to and they all

[01:08:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Know each other and then they know you and then you can all just hang out together and talk and that's like I don't think

[01:08:06] [SPEAKER_02]: You mean yeah, there's there's groups of people and friends and stuff for you know various things

[01:08:12] [SPEAKER_02]: But when you never had that before and then you come into this community and find that it's like this is really cool

[01:08:19] [SPEAKER_02]: I didn't know this kind of stuff existed, you know, or you see other people like

[01:08:23] [SPEAKER_02]: out hanging out with each other all the time and

[01:08:26] [SPEAKER_02]: but you don't have that and then you get a chance to find out what that's like, it's really special and

[01:08:31] [SPEAKER_02]: It's uh, you want to do everything you can to keep that going

[01:08:36] [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly and like the kind of excuse I always gave for not having a large friend group is I'm even though I'm an over

[01:08:42] [SPEAKER_04]: I like heavy ADHD so it's over talking over share which you're probably getting today

[01:08:46] [SPEAKER_04]: That I've actually got a lot of social anxiety and more introverted

[01:08:50] [SPEAKER_04]: So having a group of friends always seem to stress me out and I an idea of it

[01:08:56] [SPEAKER_04]: But then to the introverts that are worried about having a large group of friends

[01:09:00] [SPEAKER_04]: The more people the less you have to have attention on yourself and talk though. That's true. Very true. That is a good tip

[01:09:08] [SPEAKER_02]: So I know that you've driven through snow and mud and you did mention earlier that you've gotten stuck

[01:09:14] [SPEAKER_02]: But have you have you gotten stuck in mud or snow?

[01:09:17] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so the first time I got stuck I kind of call it a baby stock so I was out in

[01:09:24] [SPEAKER_04]: El Dorado National Forest, which is east of Sacramento

[01:09:29] [SPEAKER_04]: I think it was last New Year's and I was out with Judy the soupy and one of his buddies and

[01:09:34] [SPEAKER_04]: It had just rained and we were just doing some trails nothing too intense

[01:09:38] [SPEAKER_04]: But it was muddy and fun and I was going through all the puddles and that was fun

[01:09:42] [SPEAKER_04]: There's a part where is one lane each way and there was a car coming

[01:09:45] [SPEAKER_04]: So we're all pulling over and there was a little pull-off lane that I was trying to get into

[01:09:50] [SPEAKER_04]: But because of the mud I kind of just slowly started going sideways until it wasn't a ditch

[01:09:56] [SPEAKER_04]: It was just like here the trail meets the little hill that's going up the side

[01:09:59] [SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, slowly sunk sideways into the aisle, but it wasn't a big deal and Anthony had the kinetic rope

[01:10:05] [SPEAKER_04]: So he pulled me out really quickly

[01:10:07] [SPEAKER_04]: so

[01:10:07] [SPEAKER_04]: Like I said going with people that have all the recovery stuff's really important

[01:10:11] [SPEAKER_04]: And then the first time I got really truly stuck was this year

[01:10:16] [SPEAKER_04]: Going to do so you saw Beach up north where I went with my buddy Shane

[01:10:22] [SPEAKER_04]: Who's got the Tacoma and then his other two friends?

[01:10:25] [SPEAKER_04]: I can't remember one of the vehicles, but I know one was also Alexis and

[01:10:29] [SPEAKER_04]: It was raining all the way up there not too harshly

[01:10:33] [SPEAKER_04]: But it was raining and then once we got to the trailhead it stopped raining

[01:10:36] [SPEAKER_04]: But there was a portion of the trail even though most of it was pretty muddy and gnarly where it was going slightly downhill

[01:10:43] [SPEAKER_04]: There were these two big pothole divots that were almost right next right in front of each other

[01:10:51] [SPEAKER_04]: and I

[01:10:52] [SPEAKER_04]: Know I have to like kind of send it and then at one point I'm starting to go

[01:10:55] [SPEAKER_04]: I hear someone yell stop. So I just hit the brakes and stop and they're like, oh, sorry go

[01:11:00] [SPEAKER_04]: so then I start going but I didn't have enough momentum, so I got stuck in one of those divots and

[01:11:06] [SPEAKER_04]: That was very very stuck, but we had one of the cars in front that were like, okay

[01:11:11] [SPEAKER_04]: They're gonna pull you out just in case you get stuck. So it was already their fault that I got stuck

[01:11:15] [SPEAKER_04]: So it took a little bit of time

[01:11:17] [SPEAKER_04]: So I have this video from the trip, which is really funny where one of the guys is up on the little hill above my car

[01:11:23] [SPEAKER_04]: He's got a handsaw and he's sawing off some twigs to throw in the ditches

[01:11:28] [SPEAKER_04]: My other buddy Shane's like got a shovel and he's just like

[01:11:31] [SPEAKER_04]: Acting in the mud and then we have the other guy pulling up the strap to my car

[01:11:36] [SPEAKER_04]: So I had a whole pit crew and there wasn't really anything I could do or get out to help

[01:11:40] [SPEAKER_04]: So feeling a little bit bad, but they're like we love this stuff

[01:11:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Like it sucks to get stuck, but it's also fun to help people not get stuck. Oh, yeah

[01:11:49] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so they were fine and I'm that person where it's like I'm trying to get better about being okay with getting muddy and dirty

[01:11:54] [SPEAKER_04]: But you know, they're just like covered in mud. They're like no, this is great

[01:11:57] [SPEAKER_04]: and then

[01:11:58] [SPEAKER_04]: They pulled me out and I have a picture of my car where I call it the chili cheese tires

[01:12:03] [SPEAKER_04]: Where it just looks like chili cheese. Oh, yeah

[01:12:06] [SPEAKER_02]: I've seen that. Yeah

[01:12:10] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, there were some cars on the trails that were

[01:12:13] [SPEAKER_04]: We were wondering if they were even gonna make it down because they did not look like off-roading vehicles

[01:12:18] [SPEAKER_04]: But we saw I saw my first Cybertruck go down

[01:12:20] [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, that was nice thing

[01:12:22] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so that was the only time I got really stuck. So but it's a good learning experience

[01:12:29] [SPEAKER_02]: So which do you prefer to drive through mud or snow? I

[01:12:34] [SPEAKER_04]: Personally like snow better. Yeah mud isn't my favorite because I don't like being dirty

[01:12:42] [SPEAKER_04]: And it's harder to I think it's harder to get out of like I also love before the Tahoe trip

[01:12:48] [SPEAKER_04]: I'd only have one experience driving on snow personally ever

[01:12:51] [SPEAKER_04]: That was up with Anthony that New Year's Day in El Dorado

[01:12:54] [SPEAKER_04]: But it got to the point where it was like it was that not it wasn't the nice snow

[01:12:58] [SPEAKER_04]: So it was like the really hard tough snow and then it was like we had people's

[01:13:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Tire tribes already in there and after a while. I'm like, I don't have a left and I can't get through this

[01:13:08] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so that was kind of not quite the same but the moon rocks trip that we all did

[01:13:14] [SPEAKER_04]: That was yeah, that's no trip was fun

[01:13:16] [SPEAKER_04]: So that's the first time I really drove on snow for a long period of time

[01:13:20] [SPEAKER_04]: And I think also like one of my favorite holidays besides Halloween is Christmas

[01:13:24] [SPEAKER_04]: and I love just

[01:13:25] [SPEAKER_04]: we were going into Tahoe and the snow was coming down and it was covered in the mountains and it like looked like a

[01:13:31] [SPEAKER_04]: Watercolor painting and it was just gorgeous and magical but then driving

[01:13:36] [SPEAKER_04]: On the snow and being and it was great and then just feeling how capable the Subaru was

[01:13:41] [SPEAKER_04]: As like I said, I have a lot of anxiety especially for new experiences and

[01:13:46] [SPEAKER_04]: After a few minutes of driving that I'm like my car is capable. My tires are capable. I

[01:13:52] [SPEAKER_04]: Feel comfortable driving on this and there were a couple times where I'd slid and slide some intentional some not that I'm like

[01:13:58] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, I have a handle on this and also sliding is really fun as long as you're not worried about crashing into something

[01:14:04] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, like that time that we were all pulling out of that one turn and Dan was sliding

[01:14:08] [SPEAKER_04]: Fun and I spun and we almost keep on each other, but I'm like no I can stop my car before that happens

[01:14:14] [SPEAKER_04]: And I'm good. Yeah

[01:14:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah

[01:14:20] [SPEAKER_02]: So you've been to a lot of different spots and you said that you go you've been to

[01:14:24] [SPEAKER_02]: You haven't been camping to the same spot

[01:14:27] [SPEAKER_02]: You go to different places and you've mentioned several different places that you

[01:14:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Like to go to and some spots that you'd like to go back to but do you have a bucket list spot?

[01:14:37] [SPEAKER_02]: that you want to get out to or

[01:14:40] [SPEAKER_04]: spot I

[01:14:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Have several spots

[01:14:43] [SPEAKER_04]: My cop-out answer is anywhere in the PNW, especially Washington that the rugged route crew wants to take me

[01:14:50] [SPEAKER_04]: I've been up to Washington a couple times just visiting not in Marvin or anything

[01:14:54] [SPEAKER_04]: But it's gorgeous up there and I'd love to just go trailing out with all of them up there

[01:14:59] [SPEAKER_04]: Moab looks gorgeous basically, Tahoe or not. Tahoe

[01:15:04] [SPEAKER_04]: Utah Colorado area would be great anywhere in the eastern Sierras of California

[01:15:09] [SPEAKER_04]: Semi carries pictures and videos where she's doing the rebel and it just like looks gorgeous with dirt desert roads and mountains all over

[01:15:18] [SPEAKER_04]: It looks awesome

[01:15:19] [SPEAKER_04]: There's this place

[01:15:20] [SPEAKER_04]: That's more Eastern that's called Mona Lake and that's more I guess that's the eastern Sierras, but it's gorgeous and kind of looks like

[01:15:29] [SPEAKER_04]: This lake with all these like salt rock formations and it kind of looks like a scene out of Star Wars

[01:15:33] [SPEAKER_04]: That looks really cool. Oh, they're going out there with like awesome. Yeah, then Alaska Canada, especially Banff would be an awesome

[01:15:41] [SPEAKER_04]: The next trip that I'd like to do like a long long trip

[01:15:44] [SPEAKER_04]: So I have to save up and money and time off, but I'd love to go. This is mostly all East and Eastern area, but

[01:15:52] [SPEAKER_04]: Bodie ghost town Alabama Hills Trina Pinnacles

[01:15:55] [SPEAKER_04]: Which are like those desert ones that you see the or just desert ones that a lot of the Socrates and people go to

[01:16:00] [SPEAKER_04]: I haven't been able to go on a trip with them yet out there and then Death Valley and there's this one area

[01:16:06] [SPEAKER_04]: That's I think they're currently closed. I don't know if they're gonna open it in Death Valley, but it's called Titus Canyon

[01:16:11] [SPEAKER_04]: That looks awesome again

[01:16:12] [SPEAKER_04]: It looks like another place out of Star Wars

[01:16:14] [SPEAKER_04]: so I think it might have even filmed some of it in that Death Valley area, so

[01:16:18] [SPEAKER_02]: That would be fun to go some spot that looks like something out of Star Wars I could dig there yeah

[01:16:24] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah before my arm injury and chronic pain stuff. I was teaching myself both staff and wanting to learn lightsaber stuff

[01:16:30] [SPEAKER_04]: So I had the idea I'm like maybe for like a future made the fourth video with my car

[01:16:35] [SPEAKER_04]: I'll do some lightsaber spinning out in the desert. That would be cool

[01:16:39] [SPEAKER_02]: What is so what's the furthest distance you have driven in your outback?

[01:16:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I'd say the furthest was probably last summer

[01:16:48] [SPEAKER_04]: Me and Anthony Judy the CB. We did I think it was maybe three days. We just

[01:16:54] [SPEAKER_04]: Kind of sent it through or the Oregon coast so

[01:16:59] [SPEAKER_04]: Friday I worked in

[01:17:01] [SPEAKER_04]: Till 6 p.m. Met him and we drove as far as we could until he got tired

[01:17:06] [SPEAKER_04]: camped out in a pullout and then just went all the way to

[01:17:10] [SPEAKER_04]: There's this cheese factory if you know the Tillamook cheese if people know that yeah, so yeah

[01:17:15] [SPEAKER_04]: We just drove all the way to our highest point which was the Tillamook cheese factory and then back

[01:17:21] [SPEAKER_04]: So we hit up this awesome beach area and drove on the beach

[01:17:25] [SPEAKER_04]: There's this one area called Thor's well

[01:17:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Which is just you're on these rocks and there's this big opening than where the water is just

[01:17:32] [SPEAKER_04]: Cascading down in a circle and then we also stopped in Avenue of the Giants

[01:17:36] [SPEAKER_04]: And I think that whole trip roundtrip was 1,200 miles

[01:17:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, besides that the farthest I'd only driven was to see the Festin back which I don't remember the mileage

[01:17:48] [SPEAKER_04]: but it's about seven hours each way, but

[01:17:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah

[01:17:52] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and it was definitely long in the longest

[01:17:57] [SPEAKER_04]: Consistently sitting in a car for a drive. So yeah that can that gets tiring

[01:18:02] [SPEAKER_02]: You got to stop everyone with some wall and get out and stretch but yeah

[01:18:06] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, definitely, but I saved up a bunch of us to be in your podcast episodes for that trip. So

[01:18:11] [SPEAKER_02]: There you go, yep

[01:18:14] [SPEAKER_02]: So I know this is a tough question, but with your Subaru journey so far

[01:18:19] [SPEAKER_02]: What are three moments that are most memorable and special to you?

[01:18:25] [SPEAKER_04]: I'd say the first and I think it's a little bit of a cop-out because it's a whole weekend

[01:18:30] [SPEAKER_04]: but it's a collection of moments was the

[01:18:33] [SPEAKER_04]: Weekend that we did CB Fest. I think that was 2022. Yeah, or we met you

[01:18:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, just because that was the at the time the longest trip I'd ever done

[01:18:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Left at 6 p.m. After work with or exploring if anybody knows her

[01:18:48] [SPEAKER_04]: And we just drove until we got tired and we can't at Carrizo Plains slept three hours

[01:18:54] [SPEAKER_04]: That Friday got to see be fast or not CB Fest. We got to meet up with the

[01:19:00] [SPEAKER_04]: Software nation or tell people because we both can't leave earlier and we had to finish off the work week

[01:19:05] [SPEAKER_04]: So we were driving there slept three hours met up with them did trailing all day in Lytle Creek

[01:19:10] [SPEAKER_04]: I think that's what it's called

[01:19:12] [SPEAKER_04]: We met up with I think at the time they were the Mountain Rear West

[01:19:14] [SPEAKER_04]: People and a couple that was running that I think they're now in Tennessee

[01:19:18] [SPEAKER_04]: And I'm not sure if they still have the Subaru or not. But yeah, it was an interesting weekend Alvin the right punani he

[01:19:26] [SPEAKER_04]: There was this one part at the very top of the trail where you could just go up and it was a very steep climb

[01:19:31] [SPEAKER_04]: Or just a little loop around that was yeah for all the other cars that can do the rock crawling

[01:19:36] [SPEAKER_04]: so

[01:19:37] [SPEAKER_04]: Alvin decided to give that a try and broke a strut and we were kind of stuck up at the top

[01:19:42] [SPEAKER_04]: And I think it was at least an hour if not a couple hours to the bottom

[01:19:47] [SPEAKER_04]: So we all kind of camped up there with this car and one of them out. Sorry Alvin

[01:19:50] [SPEAKER_04]: One of them out where people like rally part of all the way down but at the time by the time they got

[01:19:56] [SPEAKER_04]: the part got the

[01:19:59] [SPEAKER_04]: tools to fix it and

[01:20:02] [SPEAKER_04]: By the time it was a little too late to find a camp spot because it was getting like we'd left and it was dark

[01:20:06] [SPEAKER_04]: And we were all trying to figure it out and with larger groups

[01:20:09] [SPEAKER_04]: It's a little harder because some people are car camping

[01:20:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Some people are tent camping

[01:20:13] [SPEAKER_04]: So some things that would work for the car campers aren't great for the tent campers, especially higher elevation and cold and wind

[01:20:18] [SPEAKER_04]: And we're all kind of just a little miserable at that point and then the people that had showed us around the mountain

[01:20:25] [SPEAKER_04]: Rue West people they were really gracious and were like

[01:20:29] [SPEAKER_04]: This has been a long day. You all have to be first tomorrow. It's been hot both days

[01:20:34] [SPEAKER_04]: You're all just gonna come to our house. You're gonna be our guests like we've got mattresses couches a spare bedroom

[01:20:39] [SPEAKER_04]: Like we're all just nice

[01:20:42] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so we all went to their place and we just had some great food

[01:20:48] [SPEAKER_04]: Suvi Bob Allen he's a chef and he made us some awesome food and then we ordered pizzas and barbecued and it was just like

[01:20:54] [SPEAKER_04]: a big Suvi slumber party, which was really fun and

[01:20:58] [SPEAKER_04]: Also nice because we could all just take a shower and stuff before CB fest

[01:21:02] [SPEAKER_04]: So I didn't have to look like a swamp witch

[01:21:04] [SPEAKER_04]: So that was an awesome moment and then just meeting everybody at Suvi fast that was from Southern California and meeting you

[01:21:11] [SPEAKER_04]: It was very very hot as you probably remember. Yes

[01:21:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that was I remember a lot of people were hanging out at my booth because it was providing shade and I was thankful for

[01:21:21] [SPEAKER_02]: That because I was like, oh cool

[01:21:22] [SPEAKER_02]: All these people I chat with all the time are hanging out here and we're all talking and I don't get to do this often

[01:21:27] [SPEAKER_04]: So that was fun. Yeah, so you had your groupies

[01:21:30] [SPEAKER_04]: But yeah

[01:21:30] [SPEAKER_04]: I think I maybe walked around once and I was definitely a part of that group that was just like it's hot

[01:21:35] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm gonna camp here and I'm not person where if it's even though I'm from California

[01:21:40] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm a little more north, but I think anything over 75 degrees is unnecessary

[01:21:45] [SPEAKER_04]: so

[01:21:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we get that all the time here over 75 degrees. Oh, yeah

[01:21:50] [SPEAKER_04]: I have a yeah my older sister that I was telling you about that works on the cars and stuff

[01:21:54] [SPEAKER_04]: She's a she's up in Dallas. So it gets very hot there. Yes, it does

[01:22:00] [SPEAKER_04]: But yeah

[01:22:01] [SPEAKER_04]: so that one and then the group that I went up with I

[01:22:04] [SPEAKER_04]: originally anticipated leaving with them but they left a little bit earlier than I'd wanted to

[01:22:08] [SPEAKER_04]: so I was kind of adopted by another group that had

[01:22:12] [SPEAKER_04]: Carrie Mountain Subi

[01:22:14] [SPEAKER_04]: Can't remember the other two people. I'm apologizing but then their other friend John who's John I can't remember his build

[01:22:21] [SPEAKER_04]: it's not a Subaru, but it's a John Deasy adventuring on YouTube and

[01:22:25] [SPEAKER_04]: Did another awesome night trail that was really fun and there's a little clip on the CB fest video

[01:22:30] [SPEAKER_04]: He has of me and Carrie at the end that so I can say I'm a little YouTube famous

[01:22:35] [SPEAKER_04]: But it was fun and awkward and got to push myself a little bit with all the Sunday people

[01:22:39] [SPEAKER_04]: So that was just a really great weekend in general

[01:22:43] [SPEAKER_04]: The other I'd say was the whole moon rocks trip

[01:22:47] [SPEAKER_04]: Just for the reasons that I said driving this now was one experience

[01:22:50] [SPEAKER_04]: But I think that was the largest

[01:22:53] [SPEAKER_04]: group of people I've gone

[01:22:55] [SPEAKER_04]: camping and trailing with and it was really cool to just like have our base camp and I think there's

[01:23:00] [SPEAKER_04]: Something like 12 to 15 different cars and the fact yeah, pretty good group

[01:23:05] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and the fact that it was not just like the locals so there was us locals but you flew down from Texas

[01:23:11] [SPEAKER_04]: There is I think four or five people that came from Washington

[01:23:15] [SPEAKER_04]: There was Kimmy P&W pearl outback Carrie Mountain Subi

[01:23:19] [SPEAKER_04]: Milton

[01:23:21] [SPEAKER_04]: silver bullet xv

[01:23:23] [SPEAKER_04]: Think that his other his one friend. I can't remember his name. Sorry

[01:23:27] [SPEAKER_04]: And then Gail came from an origin girl. She came from Arizona. So it was just like this awesome

[01:23:35] [SPEAKER_04]: collection of different drivers and different people from different areas and we all came to

[01:23:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Just connect and celebrate and celebrate your birthdays and it was just a really awesome experience

[01:23:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that was definitely a fun trip. Very memorable and I think of it often because it was just I don't know

[01:23:52] [SPEAKER_02]: It's a lot of fun like I want to come out and do something big for my 50th birthday

[01:23:56] [SPEAKER_02]: This is what I want to do and turned out to be great. Yeah, it's like see we stuck like woodstock but for CDs

[01:24:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Except for there were the two that we don't talk about that were

[01:24:06] Yeah

[01:24:07] [SPEAKER_04]: but yeah, and then other than that, it's not really a trailing and my car camping in my car experience, but

[01:24:15] [SPEAKER_04]: last summer for my birthday, I flew out to Washington for the first time and

[01:24:21] [SPEAKER_04]: just got to hang out with a lot of the

[01:24:23] [SPEAKER_04]: People I connected in the community with so I was picked up and it was just a quick three-day weekend. So I picked up by

[01:24:30] [SPEAKER_04]: River and Juniper while thorn berries and they were gracious enough to pick me up from the airport and let me crash with them for

[01:24:36] [SPEAKER_04]: The night showed me around the area

[01:24:38] [SPEAKER_04]: I got to see my first in-person Hobbit hole, which is very exciting because I am a huge nerd and Lord the reins nerd

[01:24:45] [SPEAKER_04]: And then we met up the next day with a lot of the rugged recruit. They were at the Northwest Overland Rally

[01:24:51] [SPEAKER_04]: So got to connect with them and camp with them for the night and just hang out and participate

[01:24:57] [SPEAKER_04]: I think it was similar to the moon rocks group. So it was Carrie Milton

[01:25:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Kim

[01:25:03] [SPEAKER_04]: Red beard, so a lot of them were there and yeah, I got to do one little obstacle course with Kim

[01:25:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Where it was this quick little rally course and it was an obstacle course where there are these

[01:25:16] [SPEAKER_04]: Red solo cups upside down and they each had little nerf things on them

[01:25:19] [SPEAKER_04]: So one person was driving

[01:25:21] [SPEAKER_04]: Which is Kimmy because it was her car and then the other person had the nerf gun and you had it was timed

[01:25:27] [SPEAKER_04]: But then you got deductions, I think based on how many targets you hit so I was doing the nerf gun

[01:25:33] [SPEAKER_04]: I wasn't the greatest but I had a lot of part that sounds fun

[01:25:37] [SPEAKER_04]: yeah, so that was fun and

[01:25:39] [SPEAKER_04]: That was an experience and then yeah

[01:25:41] [SPEAKER_04]: No

[01:25:41] [SPEAKER_04]: I just hung out with them for like half of one more day and

[01:25:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Carrie not and Suvi was awesome and let me crash with her the night and just dropped me off the airport

[01:25:47] [SPEAKER_04]: So it's been really cool to not only connect and go on these awesome trips and trails and camping spaces with people

[01:25:55] [SPEAKER_04]: but like I said, a lot of my closest friends have come out of this community and

[01:26:00] [SPEAKER_04]: We hang out outside of all these things to whether it's like me going

[01:26:05] [SPEAKER_04]: to different states to just hang out for the weekend and

[01:26:08] [SPEAKER_04]: It was an awesome trip and they're somewhat greatest friends

[01:26:11] [SPEAKER_04]: And I always say if I if I have to move I'm definitely gonna move up there, but we'll see what happens in the future

[01:26:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's I I love the P&W and I've been up to Washington

[01:26:21] [SPEAKER_02]: My son and I went up there and that was a lot of fun and I'd been up there for work, too

[01:26:25] [SPEAKER_02]: But I didn't get a chance to see parts of it. Like I did when we went up there for fun. Yeah, so

[01:26:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Here's like I always like this question

[01:26:34] [SPEAKER_02]: But if you could drive somebody else's Subaru for a day, whose would it be and why I think for the the reason behind

[01:26:41] [SPEAKER_04]: It is like how I've talked about I'm a little more cautious with my car and always worried about something going wrong

[01:26:48] [SPEAKER_04]: Potentially so I'm not as sandy. So I think it'd be fun to be in a car. That's the opposite of that. So I would say

[01:26:58] [SPEAKER_02]: I was thinking either that or carry because

[01:27:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Before you go on like I the one time that I drove Milton's he was like you can drive it

[01:27:08] [SPEAKER_02]: However, you want you can't do anything to it that I haven't done to it

[01:27:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so that was the main reason because those who know Milton we love you

[01:27:15] [SPEAKER_04]: I think I don't think I've heard of a single trip. He's been on where he hasn't broken something. Yeah, so but also

[01:27:23] [SPEAKER_04]: Factoring in like he knows how to fix everything

[01:27:25] [SPEAKER_04]: So he's just having a car where you can fully send it and not feel bad or something

[01:27:30] [SPEAKER_04]: But it's not worrying about it would be fun

[01:27:34] [SPEAKER_04]: And then yeah, the other reason was carries also for that same reason, but she might actually let me so

[01:27:38] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm not quite there yet Carrie and then just aesthetically

[01:27:42] [SPEAKER_04]: I actually didn't know about this build in this person until your episode that came out, but I love the look of wickas. Oh

[01:27:51] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah with the dark and the orange accents because I am a

[01:27:56] [SPEAKER_04]: Halloween and spooky gal so especially with the orange skeleton on there. I would love to

[01:28:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Just drive around and have all the spooky vibes going. So she seems really awesome. So I love the look of hers

[01:28:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I do too. It's good

[01:28:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, I mean you kind of

[01:28:13] [SPEAKER_02]: explained this and

[01:28:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Talked about earlier, but what about your outback best matches your personality?

[01:28:22] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah

[01:28:22] [SPEAKER_04]: I did talk a little bit about like it representing my mental health journey and just my goals and wanting to learn things as a

[01:28:29] [SPEAKER_04]: driver and just kind of continue to push myself in my comfort zone, but

[01:28:33] [SPEAKER_04]: I'd say statically I

[01:28:35] [SPEAKER_04]: Intentionally tried to make it match my personality with like a lot of the stickers, so I'm a huge nerd

[01:28:41] [SPEAKER_04]: So I've got my Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy stickers on there

[01:28:44] [SPEAKER_04]: I've got the alien that says don't panic which is another reason that I

[01:28:47] [SPEAKER_04]: want for the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy because it's kind of funny that it's one of their catchphrases is don't panic because

[01:28:54] [SPEAKER_04]: What I do most of the time is panic. So I thought it was funny. I've got my

[01:29:00] [SPEAKER_04]: Lord of the Rings sticker

[01:29:01] [SPEAKER_04]: So it's that silhouette of them the fellowship hiking and it's you know

[01:29:05] [SPEAKER_04]: The fellowship trail run or something like that and then I've got made the forest be with you Star Wars sticker

[01:29:10] [SPEAKER_04]: I've got some cross swords because I love swords. I've got

[01:29:14] [SPEAKER_04]: Think up to now six replica Lord of the Rings weapons and hoping to add more

[01:29:20] [SPEAKER_04]: Swords and stabbies to my collection

[01:29:22] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah

[01:29:22] [SPEAKER_04]: And then my back license plate covers got some swords on it and it says get in it's adventure time and then

[01:29:29] [SPEAKER_04]: My front plate cover is kind of one of my personal mottos

[01:29:33] [SPEAKER_04]: which is be the reason someone smiles today because I'm just a big proponent of

[01:29:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Trying to make everybody's day better. You never know what little act of kindness is gonna

[01:29:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Change someone's day. I'm not annoying person when I'm with my sister

[01:29:46] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm just complimenting strangers left and right because I'm like they look like they could use a smile or like

[01:29:53] [SPEAKER_04]: You know going to meets and stuff

[01:29:54] [SPEAKER_04]: Like I said, I used to have a lot of social anxiety and I think this is the only space

[01:29:59] [SPEAKER_04]: I haven't had social anxiety because we all obsess over something so it takes that away but

[01:30:03] [SPEAKER_04]: Going to meet some things like that

[01:30:04] [SPEAKER_04]: If I see somebody that I can tell it's their first meet or they feel like don't know how to approach people

[01:30:10] [SPEAKER_04]: I'll just kind of

[01:30:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Swoop in and start talking to them and try to make them feel welcome because we've all been that new person in a new

[01:30:16] [SPEAKER_04]: Space so trying to be a friendly face to them and make it seem less scary and it doesn't

[01:30:22] [SPEAKER_04]: Really take anything away from you to give somebody a compliment or just make them smile and kindness is free

[01:30:28] [SPEAKER_02]: I'll just try to live like that when I can know and that's good. I mean, I try to do that more often too and

[01:30:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Just at least

[01:30:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Just do something nice for somebody especially

[01:30:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Randomly, I mean even as little as like opening the door for somebody

[01:30:44] [SPEAKER_02]: You know if they they're carrying some stuff or they don't have to be carrying anything

[01:30:49] [SPEAKER_02]: You just be going into a store just open the door for them and you know, just to be nice

[01:30:53] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's always it could be something very little

[01:30:56] [SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't have to be something huge that could really make a difference in somebody's day because they could be having a bad day

[01:31:01] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean there's been times and I've had a bad day and I'm feeling down or something and

[01:31:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Somebody will do something, you know

[01:31:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Why it's nice for me like a small gesture or something and it does help me to feel a little bit better

[01:31:14] [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. I'm not annoying person to like when I have people in the car with me

[01:31:17] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm just letting everybody in they're like, oh I'm like no this person needs to be let in and just put some

[01:31:22] [SPEAKER_02]: I do that to your bank. Yeah, I do that too

[01:31:26] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and then another saying that I like is the most selfish thing you can do is something for someone else

[01:31:31] [SPEAKER_04]: So yeah makes you feel good it does

[01:31:34] [SPEAKER_02]: So if you could describe your Outback in one word, what would it be?

[01:31:38] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm today either quirky or nerdy. Yeah, just with all my stickers. So yeah, that's good

[01:31:45] [SPEAKER_02]: How has owning your Subaru and being part of the community changed your life

[01:31:51] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think I've kind of touched and sprinkled on this a lot but

[01:31:55] [SPEAKER_04]: like I said never having a

[01:31:57] [SPEAKER_04]: solid friend group

[01:31:59] [SPEAKER_04]: this is the first that I've had like a community of people and

[01:32:04] [SPEAKER_04]: realistically known this many people in my life that I want to hang out with and

[01:32:08] [SPEAKER_04]: it

[01:32:09] [SPEAKER_04]: Definitely helped build a lot of connections like I've gone to weddings and camping trips with people. I hadn't met in person before

[01:32:17] [SPEAKER_04]: flown to other states to hang out with people and just experienced like so much generosity and

[01:32:23] [SPEAKER_04]: Support from people and it's just been overwhelming and then another thing just being learning to trail

[01:32:31] [SPEAKER_04]: something unexpected happened for me in a good way where

[01:32:35] [SPEAKER_04]: Learning about first time with Carrie

[01:32:38] [SPEAKER_04]: When I was a little bit anxious and nervous and you know worried like what's the sound what's the sound but I

[01:32:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Always so tell people like the more technical stuff

[01:32:45] [SPEAKER_04]: It's almost that you it becomes more meditative and you don't have time to overthink. You don't have time to

[01:32:53] [SPEAKER_04]: Second guess yourself because you're just focusing on this one

[01:32:56] [SPEAKER_04]: Line that you have to make and then you're focusing on the next one in the next one

[01:33:00] [SPEAKER_04]: So you're not

[01:33:01] [SPEAKER_04]: Freaking out about the whole experience and how far you have to go or where you have to go or that place up there because you're

[01:33:05] [SPEAKER_04]: Not even knowing what's up there

[01:33:07] [SPEAKER_04]: You're just seeing this one

[01:33:08] [SPEAKER_04]: Spot that you have to hit right now and you have to figure out how to do it and also be able to trust yourself

[01:33:14] [SPEAKER_04]: so I definitely recommend learning how to trail if you have a lot of anxiety and for me, I'm one of those people that

[01:33:22] [SPEAKER_04]: for various reasons

[01:33:24] [SPEAKER_04]: Don't have a lot of confidence or a lot of confidence or just belief in their capabilities to do a lot of things

[01:33:31] [SPEAKER_04]: Especially things that I'm not familiar with

[01:33:33] [SPEAKER_04]: So having that exposure and being with people that

[01:33:37] [SPEAKER_04]: Take the time to show you how to do things and make you feel comfortable and make you feel safe

[01:33:42] [SPEAKER_04]: But also know what they're doing is really important. So it's been an awesome

[01:33:47] [SPEAKER_04]: Mental health journey for me I'd say

[01:33:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and that's I think that can also translate into other things in your life

[01:33:54] [SPEAKER_02]: You know if you are doing something technical you're out on the trails

[01:33:58] [SPEAKER_02]: You're with other people that know what they're doing and they can help build your confidence in

[01:34:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Getting through something that you

[01:34:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Probably would think that you wouldn't be able to do. I think that can help you

[01:34:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Like tackle and approach other things in life be like, you know what?

[01:34:13] [SPEAKER_02]: I did that and I didn't think that I could so I could probably do this other thing

[01:34:17] [SPEAKER_02]: I might need a little bit of guidance, but I think I can do it. So yeah, yeah and then

[01:34:22] [SPEAKER_04]: Finding people that will push you and motivate you just by being surrounded by them like not necessarily, you know

[01:34:27] [SPEAKER_04]: peer pressure you but you know when when you're with people like Carrie, especially and

[01:34:33] [SPEAKER_04]: Anthony and even Milton that are very Sunday

[01:34:36] [SPEAKER_04]: It's and seeing them do it again for better or worse and the kind of the car you have it makes you think I could

[01:34:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Maybe do that if they can yeah, and yeah, it gives you some confidence and just surrounding

[01:34:47] [SPEAKER_04]: I think that's a good lesson for life is just to surround yourself with people that make you want to push yourself and be better

[01:34:52] [SPEAKER_02]: And grow. Yeah, definitely

[01:34:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Do you think you'll always own a Subaru?

[01:34:57] [SPEAKER_04]: I think so

[01:34:58] [SPEAKER_04]: This is the first car that I've chosen and bought for myself

[01:35:03] [SPEAKER_04]: And I'm one of those where I'm gonna drive it till the wheels fall off. So this is my baby

[01:35:07] [SPEAKER_04]: I will drive this one for as long as I can, but I think I'll always stick with the Subaru

[01:35:12] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah, they're definitely good cars and it's

[01:35:15] [SPEAKER_02]: for your first like big girl purchase and

[01:35:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Taking you to do a lot of the things that you really wanted to do

[01:35:23] [SPEAKER_02]: I think it's you know a good intro into a lifestyle that you've helped create for yourself and

[01:35:30] [SPEAKER_02]: It would be good to stick with the same kind of car that can help you continue that

[01:35:36] [SPEAKER_02]: So here's a little segment to get to know the person behind the account a little bit more but who is Miley I

[01:35:44] [SPEAKER_04]: Would say that Miley is a narrow spicy

[01:35:49] [SPEAKER_04]: neurodivergent awkward

[01:35:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Introverted nerdy little weirdo. That's how I like to describe myself

[01:35:55] [SPEAKER_04]: Just love fantasy cozy things

[01:35:59] [SPEAKER_04]: Halloween

[01:36:01] [SPEAKER_04]: Just any little festivals and fairs anything magical love the outdoors

[01:36:06] [SPEAKER_04]: So that's kind of me in a nutshell. All right, where were you born?

[01:36:12] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so I grew up in

[01:36:14] [SPEAKER_04]: Sonoma County it's about 45 minutes north of San Francisco

[01:36:19] [SPEAKER_04]: And we're the county that's also right next to Napa wine country I grew up in a little not so little it feels like little

[01:36:26] [SPEAKER_04]: town called Petaluma

[01:36:28] [SPEAKER_04]: That no one's ever heard of but we're often

[01:36:31] [SPEAKER_04]: Nominated and list is the friendliest and nicest one of the friendliest and nicest cities in the country

[01:36:36] [SPEAKER_04]: No, we've got that going for us. Yeah something to be proud of

[01:36:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's one of those like average sized towns, but it feels like a small town

[01:36:44] [SPEAKER_04]: So I grew up going to like we have a bunch of antique fairs

[01:36:47] [SPEAKER_04]: You know the movie Howard the duck that was our Petaluma River that was in the plane

[01:36:53] [SPEAKER_04]: That's cool. And then a lot of the movie American graffiti that old car movie was also filmed in Petaluma

[01:36:59] [SPEAKER_02]: Nice, I think you said that once before a long time ago

[01:37:03] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, we have this one really cool annual event. That's the salute to the American graffiti movie. So we close our entire

[01:37:13] [SPEAKER_04]: Downtown area and it's just like a cruise and parked with I think like hundreds of classic cars

[01:37:18] [SPEAKER_04]: And they've got the clock cars from the movie

[01:37:22] [SPEAKER_04]: Some of the cats that are still living go and it's just like this giant

[01:37:26] [SPEAKER_04]: Party with all these awesome old classic cars. That is really fun

[01:37:30] [SPEAKER_04]: We're like this historic funky little town that just full of awesome people when do they do that annual thing?

[01:37:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah that I think it's either April or May okay, but if you just look at Petaluma salute to American graffiti

[01:37:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, cool. That sounds like something that would be fun to go out there for just to check out

[01:37:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Definitely. What is a favorite memory from your childhood? I

[01:37:57] [SPEAKER_04]: touched on a little bit but going to the

[01:38:01] [SPEAKER_04]: NHRA drag races every year was a big memory for me

[01:38:06] [SPEAKER_04]: My stepdad got us me and my sisters into that, you know when you're a kid

[01:38:09] [SPEAKER_04]: You're not into it as much and it feels a little forced and especially because we'd spend like the whole weekend in the whole day

[01:38:14] [SPEAKER_04]: It's hot

[01:38:16] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but it's one of those like the more you do it as a kid. It just becomes kind of tradition and fun

[01:38:23] [SPEAKER_04]: so yeah, I'd say that's my biggest memories are going to the drag races or just even the

[01:38:29] [SPEAKER_04]: Boat races that my family worked on or hanging out in the boat shop. So I always say that my

[01:38:35] [SPEAKER_04]: nostalgic smells from childhood are

[01:38:37] [SPEAKER_04]: Great clean nitro and that like orange sludge shop hand wash. Oh, yeah

[01:38:43] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't remember what it's called. But those are like if we can make candles of any of those be great

[01:38:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I one of my favorite smells from childhood is sawdust because my grandpa was a carpenter and going to his shop and smelling

[01:38:56] [SPEAKER_02]: The sawdust so I totally get that. What is it you do for a living?

[01:39:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so I am a library assistant for a public library

[01:39:07] [SPEAKER_04]: It's a little bit different than librarians so we don't do collection management

[01:39:12] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm more the customer service side of

[01:39:15] [SPEAKER_04]: libraries and then just do a lot of the like grunt work for circulating the materials and checking things in and out and

[01:39:21] [SPEAKER_04]: You know fulfilling requests, so I've been doing that for about three years prior to that I worked about a decade in child care

[01:39:30] [SPEAKER_04]: Either as a nanny and special education and working in group homes with foster youth

[01:39:34] [SPEAKER_04]: But always loved the idea in the environment and working in a library

[01:39:38] [SPEAKER_04]: I'd say if you're more introverted and just want a very calm

[01:39:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Chill work environment where you can just leave work and work

[01:39:46] [SPEAKER_04]: I would highly recommend working in a library and just want to shout out libraries in general. We're not just books anymore

[01:39:52] [SPEAKER_04]: So we've got awesome resources. We've got ebooks audiobooks save you some money on audible

[01:39:59] [SPEAKER_04]: State park passes a lot of them have local regional park passes so you can save some money

[01:40:04] [SPEAKER_04]: But also support your parks if you can but you know, some people don't have the luxury of being able to afford that

[01:40:10] [SPEAKER_04]: So we've got those park passes a lot of cool libraries that are in the bigger metropolitan areas. They've gotten

[01:40:17] [SPEAKER_04]: Really cool advanced technology. So there's 3d printers for people to use

[01:40:21] [SPEAKER_04]: Some people have a library of things where you can get anything from like movie projectors to run out to instruments to tools

[01:40:29] [SPEAKER_04]: There's a local library in my area that they have a whole recording studio that you can rent time in to rent and do

[01:40:37] [SPEAKER_04]: Musical recordings podcasts anything like that. So if you're ever interested in starting things up check out your local libraries

[01:40:44] [SPEAKER_02]: That's nice. I didn't realize that they had all that at some locations

[01:40:48] [SPEAKER_02]: So I may have to go check out my local library and see what they have to offer

[01:40:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Do you have a dream job and if you do what would it be I

[01:41:00] [SPEAKER_04]: Think the initial answer that everyone gives us the dream job is to not have a job. Yeah

[01:41:07] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I have two that are kind of a little different

[01:41:10] [SPEAKER_04]: But I would also say this is under the assumption that I'm successful and good at them

[01:41:16] [SPEAKER_04]: that

[01:41:16] [SPEAKER_04]: One because I love HDTV. I would love to

[01:41:21] [SPEAKER_04]: Just purchase and restore old historic homes

[01:41:24] [SPEAKER_04]: Especially the ones that are kind of on their last leg and also make them traditional

[01:41:29] [SPEAKER_04]: It hurts my soul to see the houses where they're like historic

[01:41:34] [SPEAKER_04]: Victorians and then they make them all modern inside and get rid of all the craftsmen

[01:41:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Work and yeah and things like that

[01:41:40] [SPEAKER_04]: So that was one another one that I had an idea because again being ADHD

[01:41:45] [SPEAKER_04]: I have a million ideas for everything that I'm probably not gonna follow through on as

[01:41:50] [SPEAKER_04]: I mentioned I worked at a group home and something that I always thought would be awesome was doing a nonprofit

[01:41:56] [SPEAKER_04]: where

[01:41:58] [SPEAKER_04]: Youth and young adults exiting the group home system and going into adulthood

[01:42:03] [SPEAKER_04]: they get a certain amount of resources to kind of kickstart their

[01:42:08] [SPEAKER_04]: adult life and life's outside of the system and

[01:42:10] [SPEAKER_04]: Building up their home lives, but a lot of people come out with nothing and I knew so much over the years

[01:42:16] [SPEAKER_04]: I think I've moved once a year for 10 years at one point for various reasons. So I know the importance of

[01:42:23] [SPEAKER_04]: home and feeling at home and settled and

[01:42:26] [SPEAKER_04]: You taking pride in a place that feels like yours that I thought it'd be cool to have a nonprofit where

[01:42:31] [SPEAKER_04]: you know once they get a place settled whether it's a room in apartment having a whole team come in and just like

[01:42:38] [SPEAKER_04]: HGTV interior design a place for them and that feels like them and that they can have pride and agency over

[01:42:44] [SPEAKER_04]: So that's another random thought. No, that's nice

[01:42:47] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's definitely something that I could see you being passionate about and you know being good at but those are good ideas

[01:42:56] [SPEAKER_02]: So besides getting out and driving your Outback and hanging out with your subi fam

[01:43:01] [SPEAKER_02]: what other hobbies do you have and

[01:43:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Where did your fascination come with like Lord of the Rings and everything magical and mystical and stuff?

[01:43:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I as I mentioned and someone that's neurodivergent ADHD. I have a lot of hobbies and they're all over the place

[01:43:18] [SPEAKER_04]: Well before I got into my medical issues with my arms, I was really into fitness

[01:43:24] [SPEAKER_04]: So I was doing CrossFit power lifting training for half marathon

[01:43:29] [SPEAKER_04]: I was teaching myself both staff on to learn lightsaber staff

[01:43:32] [SPEAKER_04]: So that all kind of had to be put on the back burner for a little bit right now

[01:43:36] [SPEAKER_04]: but other than that, I kind of

[01:43:38] [SPEAKER_04]: More traditionally and like introverted and like a hobbit and homebody

[01:43:42] [SPEAKER_04]: so I just kind of like

[01:43:45] [SPEAKER_04]: Chilling inside and doing cozy activities. So listening to podcasts audiobooks

[01:43:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Playing my switch doing puzzles and coloring books baking

[01:43:55] [SPEAKER_04]: I also love going to festivals and fairs whether that's like antique fairs or the Scottish Games or

[01:44:02] [SPEAKER_04]: More recently this year. I've been really leaning into there going to the Renaissance Fairs and dressing up and just living my best magical life

[01:44:10] [SPEAKER_04]: Going to those which is really fun. Those are fun

[01:44:14] [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, I think I've gone to two or three at this point and it's about to kick off Renfrew season mid-september

[01:44:21] [SPEAKER_04]: So there's about six weekends that they go through

[01:44:24] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm hoping to make at least three because they're all about two hours from me. But yeah doing that and I just also really enjoy

[01:44:33] [SPEAKER_04]: researching and visiting places that feel

[01:44:36] [SPEAKER_04]: Kind of like another world or another time so more magical historic places. We have this really

[01:44:42] [SPEAKER_04]: Awesome winery that's maybe 30 45 minutes from me. It's called I think it's Castello

[01:44:49] [SPEAKER_04]: Di Amorosa and Calistoga and it's just like a full Italian

[01:44:55] [SPEAKER_04]: Castle. Oh

[01:44:56] [SPEAKER_04]: Awesome place. Yeah, so you can do like a walking tour

[01:45:00] [SPEAKER_04]: They have a wine tour and you just feel like you're in a legit castle in the middle of Northern, California

[01:45:06] [SPEAKER_04]: And then just going to different historic sites different parks and things like that

[01:45:11] [SPEAKER_04]: so that's kind of how I like to spend my time and

[01:45:15] [SPEAKER_04]: As far as Lord the Rings and that whole scene. It's funny because I'm one of those people who?

[01:45:22] [SPEAKER_04]: Found the movies before the books because I'm 32

[01:45:25] [SPEAKER_04]: So I wasn't really reading Lord the Rings when the movie came out a little

[01:45:28] [SPEAKER_04]: yeah, there's a little much for me and my attention span at the time, but I fell in love with the movies and

[01:45:34] [SPEAKER_04]: Then I was that nerd that I've seen them multiple times then when they came out

[01:45:38] [SPEAKER_04]: I bought the extended editions and they had all the

[01:45:41] [SPEAKER_04]: behind the scenes not just of filming the movie in the cast, but I really

[01:45:46] [SPEAKER_04]: fell in love with how much detail and passion and craftsmanship was put into creating the films from the

[01:45:53] [SPEAKER_04]: Concept artists and people like hand making like millions of pieces of chain mail to making their armor

[01:45:59] [SPEAKER_04]: creating languages and

[01:46:02] [SPEAKER_04]: How beautiful the landscape was so that was kind of jumped me into that

[01:46:07] [SPEAKER_04]: Before the whole Lord of the Rings I fell in love fantasy a little bit from watching Xena warrior princess. Oh, yeah

[01:46:14] [SPEAKER_04]: So that was my first introduction into fantasy and just being like this is cool. This lady is a badass

[01:46:22] [SPEAKER_04]: She's got a sword. So that's probably where my obsession with swords came first

[01:46:26] [SPEAKER_04]: I still talk about eventually doing cosplay. I would love my first cosplay to be Xena

[01:46:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, you know what have to be

[01:46:34] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and I think for me a lot of it growing up was you know

[01:46:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Beside these places were gorgeous gorgeous and fantasy

[01:46:42] [SPEAKER_04]: And I think it was a little bit of escapism for me because I went through different things

[01:46:46] [SPEAKER_04]: You know, we all go through our like emo

[01:46:49] [SPEAKER_04]: teen angsty teen phase

[01:46:51] [SPEAKER_04]: so that was kind of like my escapism is just like

[01:46:54] [SPEAKER_04]: immersing myself and following these different movies or books or shows and

[01:46:59] [SPEAKER_04]: Just got really into it and it was a lot simpler at a time than it is now

[01:47:03] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, definitely. There's that aspect. Yeah, and just kind of fell in love with the magical fantasy aspect of it and

[01:47:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I'm just trying to live my best hobbit fantasy life. I can there you go

[01:47:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Next thing you'll have to do is just get like some, you know, cool hobbit house to live in someday

[01:47:22] [SPEAKER_04]: My dream house would just be to make like a hobbit medieval tavern fantasy house. Yeah, that would be fun

[01:47:31] [SPEAKER_02]: So what is something that makes you want to get out of bed every day

[01:47:36] [SPEAKER_04]: well, first of all, I'd like to say that it's usually pretty hard because I

[01:47:41] [SPEAKER_04]: You know a lot of people do struggle with mental health stuff

[01:47:45] [SPEAKER_04]: But the first thing that came to mind was food

[01:47:49] [SPEAKER_04]: Driving myself with something

[01:47:51] [SPEAKER_04]: Food is always good

[01:47:53] [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, that's one of my top motivators this food, but I also

[01:47:57] [SPEAKER_04]: During my mental health journey

[01:47:59] [SPEAKER_04]: it's something that really helped motivate me because I feel like a lot of people do this where

[01:48:04] [SPEAKER_04]: We get stuck and just the same routine and it just kind of feels like every day is the same and they blend to each

[01:48:10] [SPEAKER_04]: other and it's a lot of like

[01:48:13] [SPEAKER_04]: Go go go

[01:48:14] [SPEAKER_04]: So something that I always tell people is to give yourself something to look forward to

[01:48:19] [SPEAKER_04]: whether that's like one big thing a month or just a little thing on the weekend or something midweek or even on a daily basis where

[01:48:27] [SPEAKER_04]: You know, sometimes I get off work and I'm just like I'm gonna go. I don't want to go home

[01:48:31] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm gonna watch the sunset after work on a weekday because there won't be people

[01:48:35] [SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, I think just giving myself something to look forward to definitely motivates me to get out of bed

[01:48:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's good. It's nice to

[01:48:44] [SPEAKER_02]: there's

[01:48:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Been quite a few times and I don't want to come home because I just like I don't want to be alone

[01:48:51] [SPEAKER_02]: in my apartment because most of the time I am if my son isn't here and

[01:48:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes I'm like, I just want to go for a drive

[01:48:57] [SPEAKER_02]: I want to go like I might just go to the store and may not necessarily need anything

[01:49:03] [SPEAKER_02]: but you know, there's always something I can use but just to like get out and be

[01:49:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Just be out and not be at home alone. So I get that right

[01:49:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Therapy drives are important. Yeah, definitely. What is something that makes you want to stay in bed?

[01:49:20] [SPEAKER_04]: My first thought was the world but

[01:49:23] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I'd say I

[01:49:26] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't have a problem staying in bed. There's this phrase called her cold air cooling

[01:49:31] [SPEAKER_04]: Where it's kind of I think it's somewhere in Scandinavia or Europe where it's just this term that people use for just

[01:49:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Being cozy and waking up and staying in bed and enjoying that time and being present and slowing down and not feeling like you have to

[01:49:45] [SPEAKER_04]: Be go go go all the time

[01:49:47] [SPEAKER_04]: But yeah that and I think I also just enjoy

[01:49:50] [SPEAKER_04]: On the opposite end of giving yourself something to look forward to I really enjoy having the days where I have nothing plans

[01:49:58] [SPEAKER_04]: No, yeah, or I can just wait. Yeah, so I can just wake up anytime I want

[01:50:03] [SPEAKER_04]: Decide if I want to get out of bed or when I want to get out of bed usually on those days

[01:50:07] [SPEAKER_04]: It's again because of food and I should probably eat

[01:50:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, just having the days where I can do whatever I want and if I want to stay in all day

[01:50:16] [SPEAKER_04]: I can if I want to go here I can I

[01:50:19] [SPEAKER_04]: Don't have to worry about because you know

[01:50:21] [SPEAKER_04]: There's sometimes where you make plans with people and it's like I'll say you don't want to hang out with them

[01:50:24] [SPEAKER_04]: But you're like, oh I do not have the energy to do things today or be at a place

[01:50:27] [SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, I get that

[01:50:29] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah

[01:50:29] [SPEAKER_04]: and sometimes it's fun to do things on your own because and not

[01:50:33] [SPEAKER_04]: Worry about other people because everybody's got a little bit different style and how they like to spend their day

[01:50:38] [SPEAKER_04]: So it's like if I want to go to this one place by myself and I want to stay at this thing longer or shorter

[01:50:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Also, yeah, you're not having to accommodate somebody else's time

[01:50:48] [SPEAKER_02]: You're just doing your own thing and it's like I just have to worry about me and that's good

[01:50:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, exactly. Yeah, what would be your best bit of advice to give to someone about anything? I

[01:51:00] [SPEAKER_04]: Have some written down but I think I've already said them. So another one

[01:51:04] [SPEAKER_04]: During my mental health journey. I got because I also got my degree in psychology

[01:51:09] [SPEAKER_04]: But I really went down the stoicism route for a while if you know anything about stoicism

[01:51:14] [SPEAKER_04]: So one of the I think I'm gonna butcher the actual quote, but essentially it was talking about how?

[01:51:22] [SPEAKER_04]: Most things in life. You don't have control over the only thing you have control over is your response to the events

[01:51:29] [SPEAKER_04]: So I try to remember to apply with that when I can I'm kind of been not as great lately

[01:51:34] [SPEAKER_04]: So I've been reminding myself, but it's little things that just thinking about the things in the world that stress you out or happen

[01:51:41] [SPEAKER_04]: quote-unquote happened to you and

[01:51:44] [SPEAKER_04]: Not letting them affect you because there are things that are gonna happen every day

[01:51:48] [SPEAKER_04]: That you can't control whether they happen or not whether it's the example

[01:51:52] [SPEAKER_04]: I always give give is if you're in traffic, you know

[01:51:56] [SPEAKER_04]: You can't control that the traffic's there you're in it if you're gonna be late to work

[01:52:01] [SPEAKER_04]: It's stressful, but you can't control you're just gonna be late to work

[01:52:03] [SPEAKER_04]: So how can what is your response that you can control and make the situation better?

[01:52:07] [SPEAKER_04]: So, you know accepting that I'm in traffic

[01:52:10] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm gonna be late and I can let my supervisors know

[01:52:13] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm gonna be late did that and how can I make this an enjoyable experience instead of freaking out and stressing out the entire

[01:52:19] [SPEAKER_04]: Time, you know, you can call a friend. You can listen to some music listen to a podcast

[01:52:25] [SPEAKER_04]: Things like that. They're just trying to think and remind yourself in stressful situations or difficult situations

[01:52:31] [SPEAKER_04]: What do you actually have control over? How can you make it better? That's very true

[01:52:35] [SPEAKER_02]: It's a very good point and that's good advice to something to remember

[01:52:38] [SPEAKER_02]: And I think sometimes we kind of do remember that and then at times we don't and we let things get to us and freak

[01:52:46] [SPEAKER_02]: out and maybe get upset and

[01:52:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Angry at times, you know, but then other times it's like what am I gonna do, you know?

[01:52:55] [SPEAKER_02]: And if you kind of take that approach, it's like there's nothing I can do about it

[01:52:58] [SPEAKER_02]: so I might as well like you said because I take a long drive to work and

[01:53:03] [SPEAKER_02]: home on purpose as often as I can so that I can avoid paying a crap ton of money in tolls and

[01:53:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Even though I know the long the distance is shorter, but the time is longer because I'm not taking like, you know

[01:53:15] [SPEAKER_02]: I totally but I and sometimes I'll encounter traffic

[01:53:19] [SPEAKER_02]: But I usually take that time to listen to a podcast or listen to music or just kind of be in my thoughts or whatever

[01:53:26] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's good. It's time well spent and it's time by myself and time that I can reflect and so it's good stuff

[01:53:34] [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. Like I said, I'm not always the best at doing that and like anything

[01:53:38] [SPEAKER_04]: It takes time doing it over and over and another

[01:53:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Joseph doesn't quote while we're on the topic

[01:53:45] [SPEAKER_04]: you know, we are what we repeatedly do and habits are more effort and you have to

[01:53:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Be more intentional about doing those things and you're gonna slip up and you know

[01:53:54] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm I've been that person where it's like things are going great

[01:53:57] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't need to do this anymore because I'm good now, but then it's like oh they're going great because I've been doing this

[01:54:02] [SPEAKER_04]: yeah, so yeah just

[01:54:04] [SPEAKER_04]: being intentional about doing things and also

[01:54:07] [SPEAKER_04]: Being giving yourself grace and accepting that you're not always gonna be perfect and it's okay. Yeah, that's a big one too. So

[01:54:15] [SPEAKER_02]: well, thank you for taking the time to record with me and

[01:54:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Be a guest after all this time

[01:54:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Welcome, of course, it's got you know

[01:54:25] [SPEAKER_02]: This is your second appearance because you were on the podcast when we were at Sue B fest. Did you hop on the mic? I

[01:54:32] [SPEAKER_04]: did yeah, okay, um

[01:54:34] [SPEAKER_04]: You're trying to get us and I told Dan satanic super I'd only do it if he did it with me

[01:54:37] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah, cuz I know you were kind of great radio personality

[01:54:41] [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, you were kind of anxious about doing it and then you did agree to do it

[01:54:45] [SPEAKER_02]: So and I also want to thank you at Sue B fest

[01:54:48] [SPEAKER_02]: California for going and getting food for me because it was pretty busy and I didn't really have time to get out and that was

[01:54:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Very nice of you. So, thank you

[01:54:55] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, anytime if you see me out anywhere and you need something just let me know
