[00:00:10] What's up guys, I'm Christopher Bose, I'm the Director of Launch Control. And I'm Warwick Patterson, Producer of Launch Control. And this is episode 195. Not 199, 195. I feel like that's reserved for something, but who knows? I know nothing about that. That's a fact. Hello everybody, welcome to Episode 195, as Christopher Bose said. And yes, I have Warwick Patterson and Christopher Bose back from Launch Control.
[00:00:40] Because I was watching the end of the season, and they kind of left us hanging on their last episode, on Episode 192. Because the season wasn't finished, and they said go back and watch Episode 10, which I did, and it was really, really good.
[00:00:59] So if you have watched Episode 10, which is 12.10 of Subaru Launch Control from last season, from last ARA season, then you will understand and you will get this episode. It will make more sense to you. If you have not watched Episode 12.10, I recommend just go back and watch the whole season if you haven't watched any of it. And this episode will make a lot more sense if you've seen that episode of Launch Control.
[00:01:29] Because we talk about things that they couldn't talk about at that point. They couldn't talk about things on Episode 192. And then there were some things on that last episode, 12.10, that were kind of left out there hanging. So we get into some of that. But we also do a recap of Season 12, which is why they were here.
[00:01:51] And then also to talk about what might be coming up for the next ARA season and season of Launch Control. So we will get into all of that here in just a bit. The Sue B&U Podcast is brought to you by Eccentric Designs. For those of you who don't know, Eccentric Designs is a small, community-driven business that offers custom-fit vinyl overlays for most Subaru models. This includes various designs for the rear reflectors, taillights, and side taillights.
[00:02:21] I also offer fun decal designs like the popular fender stripes and stickers. To find designs for your Subi, head on over to eccentricdesigns.com. There's always more projects in the works, so be sure to follow at eccentric.designs on Instagram. Okay, if you were a previous guest on the Sue B&U Podcast, there is now a Sue B&U Podcast episode-specific decal on Eccentric Designs on the website.
[00:02:48] So you can go there and get a Sue B&U Podcast decal with your episode number on it. So if you were on episode 40, let's say, it would be the stacked decal, and underneath it says episode 40 of the Sue B&U Podcast. So I know a few people have gotten these before, but if you do not have one and you were on the website, or if you were on the website,
[00:03:16] if you were on the podcast previously and you would like to get an episode-specific decal, you can go to eccentricdesigns.com. If you go to decals, it's on the second page. So I'm also going to post it in my stories this week, so look out for that as well. We have a patron question of the week. This one comes from Will, who goes by Subaru.guy.11, and he asks,
[00:03:53] I never really did have a dream car like that. However, my grandpa had, I think it was a 1975 Ford Bronco, and we used to always, I used to always ride with him in that. And it had some exhaust on it, so it was kind of loud, and it sounded really, really cool. And then it was also a manual, but the manual shift was on the steering column, which is, you know, kind of unusual.
[00:04:22] I also remember that we would go out to these fields to go like catfish, or he would do cat, he was fishing for catfish. And we would go out there, and sometimes it would be muddy, and he, it was a 4x4, but he would have to go out and lock the front wheels in order, you know, for them to like turn with the rest of the wheels. It wasn't just like, you know, you click a button, and it goes into four-wheel drive.
[00:04:49] So I would say that like, I remember wanting that Bronco whenever I turned 16, because I thought it was like super, super cool. I had a really good relationship with my grandpa, and I was just thinking, you know, that would have been really cool to have. So I didn't really have a quote-unquote dream car per se, but I would have definitely wanted to have had that Bronco.
[00:05:16] So I hope that kind of answers your question, but yeah, that's what I would have to go with for that. So thank you so much, Will, for your question. This episode is brought to you by SubaruGear.com. If you've seen in my stories the past couple of weeks or maybe week and a half, there is a new license plate frame that is available at SubaruGear.com.
[00:05:39] And it, you can use it at, well, it's set up and designed to put your lifestyle badges and also your loyalty badge. So, you know, if it's your first, second, third Subaru, whatever, it's got a spot for that. And then it has a spot for all of the lifestyle icon badges. So that's a really cool option. It's, you know, usually you get these, your loyalty badge and your lifestyle badges, and you put them wherever on your car.
[00:06:07] But now they have a license plate frame available where you can put your loyalty number and then a few badges. I think it can hold up to maybe like five or six. I don't recall exactly, but it's a really nice option and it looks really clean. So it's in my stories. I've put it in my stories a couple of times, but you can just go to SubaruGear.com, go to search, type in license plate frame, and you will find it there.
[00:06:35] So go also use the code SUBANU25 to get 20% off your purchase. And don't forget that if you, if your total is over $50 after the 20% discount, you also get free shipping. So go fill up your cart. Go find a bunch of really great products at SubaruGear.com. Fill up your cart. Use the code SUBANU25. Save 20% and get free shipping. That's a really great deal.
[00:07:04] So thank you so much, SubaruGear.com, for sponsoring the SUBANU podcast. And thank you so much for this great offer. Lastly, I wanted to mention that I still have a discount code for RIKO wheels. It's SUBANU10. So you can still get 10% off a set of RIKO wheels if you go visit RIKOVS.com. Go search for your Subaru and see all of the great styles that they have to offer.
[00:07:31] So that's what I'm running on my car on Pearl. I have some RIKO Tetons in satin black. And I absolutely love them. I, I don't know that I will ever get another set of wheels because I really, really like these so much. And I have seen quite a few other people out in the community who have RIKO wheels. And they just look really, really good and really clean. And I just, I love them.
[00:08:00] So go to RIKO wheels and use the code SUBANU10 at checkout to get 10% off your purchase. One more thing before we get started with this episode. I really want to say thank you to everybody who has stuck around for over four years now. Because I've been doing the podcast for a little over four years. So thank you all so much for your support. Thank you for sharing. Thank you to all of my guests who have come on to the podcast. And this is Warwick and Christopher's.
[00:08:29] So Warwick came on and did his own episode. Then Christopher did his own episode. And I think together this might be their third appearance on the podcast. So thank you Warwick and Christopher for blessing us again with your, with another episode. And for sharing information and stories about launch control and about the ARA season. And about all the people that are involved. So I really appreciate it. And I thank you.
[00:08:56] So now we will go ahead and get into this episode with Warwick and Christopher. To talk about Subaru launch control. Welcome back guys. Yeah. Thanks for having us. Yeah. You're welcome. Feels like we're just here. Yeah, we were.
[00:09:24] I know it wasn't, it was episode 192. So just a few episodes ago. But this is, you know, this is going to be a little bit different. Because it's going to be like a wrap up of season 12. And then we've got Snowdrift coming up. So is Snowdrift the start of season 13? It very well might be. Yeah. It might be. I don't know to what extent it's going to be covered. We're, we're really, it's really too early to tell.
[00:09:53] We're just getting our ducks to a row in the season. And, you know, when we were here a couple, whatever, a couple months ago, it felt like you were asking a bunch of really, really good questions that we weren't allowed to answer or didn't want to answer because it was like things that were going to get covered in the season. And so anyway, it's fun to come back around and maybe you've got those questions or your fans have those questions and we can kind of give more substantive answers and, you
[00:10:22] know, just kind of be more honest. And we talked after we were like, wow, we, we left them with a lot of, uh, can't talk about that. So here we are. Yeah. And I think just, just to be clear, we are doing a season 13. Oh, nice. What, what Snowdrift plays a part in, we don't know, but, um, we're on the cards for another season. Okay. Well, before we started recording, each of you said that you had a little Subaru story. So why don't we start off with that? Yeah.
[00:10:51] Well, I wanted to, uh, it's not every day you, you get a new Subaru. So today I picked up a 2025, uh, Subaru Ascent. I had a 22 Ascent. I returned it, um, just end of a lease kind of thing. Okay. But that's, that was interesting. But basically I had to drop the car off a day ago. And, um, in between I got a loaner and I had never gotten to drive the, um, outback wilderness.
[00:11:16] And, uh, I just had, and, and I live in Montreal up in Canada and, uh, it was pretty snowy today. It was kind of a blizzard and I had a bunch of errands to run, um, for the business and got to blast around the snow in a, in a wilderness edition out back. And it was super fun. It made me wish I didn't have two and a half kids because I'd probably have an outback, but anyway, it was, uh, it was good fun. Yeah.
[00:11:41] There's a, I don't think I've ever ridden in any of the wilderness editions. I know people that have them. I've seen them in person, but I haven't driven one nor have I ridden in one. So that may have to change that someday. That was, yeah, it was, they're cool. We did a shoot out in Sedona with the Crosstrex for Subaru in Canada. They did an event with journalists there and we got to see it like on some rough terrain.
[00:12:09] I feel like the wilderness editions at, from the outside can look like, oh, they added some plastic and they made some changes. And it's easy to like, if you've got like a, um, a real heavy off-roader, it's easy to kind of like dismiss them, but the, the changes they did are like have a pretty crazy impact. They're, they're way more, um, capable than I think people give them credit for. They're not just a looks package. It's pretty cool. Yeah.
[00:12:37] I like them, uh, especially the outback and I, every color of the outback wilderness I've seen, I think looks good. So you can't go wrong with that. I really like, I really liked the dark gray with the gray cladding and the orange accents. I think that's a pretty cool combination. That would be my, my go-to if I, if I ever got to do that. And then the other little part of this story about, about this exchange was, uh, for the
[00:13:03] first time I was at the dealership and got kind of a rockstar treatment. People were like, oh, you do launch control. Oh my God. And I was, um, they were telling me their favorite episodes and, um, and how they, they want to go down to the shop and all you got to hang out with Bucky and all this stuff. Anyway, it was, it was fun. It was hard to just get in and buy a car and leave, but, uh, the attention was pretty sweet and, and I got a bit of a rockstar treatment.
[00:13:31] I don't think they hand out wilderness editions to every person who's buying the car. I think that was like, because I mentioned that I, I had like FOMO for having too many children. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It is cool. I think there's much more awareness on the dealership level of the motorsports program now and what's going on. Um, it didn't make this, the series, but I filmed some stuff at the dealership in Boise with Rhiannon and, uh, that was pretty cool there. They gave her the rockstar treatment.
[00:14:00] Obviously they love her there and she comes and gives out gifts to all the mechanics and we filmed a little bit in there. So that was fun. And I've seen that, seen that here too, that the dealerships kind of understand what's going on. I was looking at WRXs and the guy was like, Oh yeah, we'll, we'll get you set up. Don't worry. Getting cleared for Canada. Yeah. For import. Yeah. Yeah. So you have a story too, don't you work? Yeah.
[00:14:25] Mine's kind of a fun one in 2005, end of 2005, I bought a 2006 Impreza wagon. Uh, I had that for a while and then I sold it to a friend who then sold it to another friend and now I'm about to buy it back 20 years later. Oh, that's cool. It's, it's a little, you're buying back this, you're buying it back from Dave. Yep. It's so funny. Yeah. It's a little rusty.
[00:14:51] It's a little, uh, well used, but it's got probably, I don't know. I don't know. Miles. I don't know, but a hundred kilometers, a hundred thousand kilometers in gravel miles probably and all the reccees and rallies it's done. Oh, that's cool. Um, it's got some history. Yeah. It's a little rough around the edges, but it's still got my formula photographic sticker on the window and it's pretty, pretty fun. So it's gonna, it's gonna become, uh, the airport car here.
[00:15:43] That's cool. Other things started. I didn't ask this any of the other times. And the last time that you were on was only during, since I've started doing it. And it's a silly question that somebody started a while back. But so, uh, Warwick, do you prefer waffles or pancakes? Uh, I would say waffles. It holds more syrup. Okay. Yeah. That's a, I get that answer a lot. And Christopher, how about you?
[00:16:08] I'm a pancake guy and I debate the syrup, the, the syrup situation because for our first application, you can get more maple syrup into the waffle, but the absorption, the, uh, the collection of syrup can be greater on a nice thick pancake. It's basically a pancake. It's like a sponge. Siller. Yeah. Sponge. Yeah. All right. Good. Cause I'm a pancake guy. So I'm right there. Right.
[00:16:36] I like, I like waffles, but pancakes just a little bit more. Yeah. You're not throwing either one of them out. No. Out of bed. But, um, I will say the, the official food of the launch control crew is probably holiday in waffles. We stay at so many of those. Nice. Nice. Yeah. So I was going to ask, you've got snow drift coming up and this isn't a question that I had on the list that I gave you, but I was just thinking about it earlier.
[00:17:02] And I think I asked this the first time y'all were on possibly, but with this coming up, so you've got snow drift coming up. How do you prepare for that? As far as like what gear you're going to take and like what personnel you're going to take, how are you going to set up for it? Like how many videographers, how many photographers, how do you, and is it different for each event? Well, it seems like snow drift lately. It's been like sunscreen and a sombrero.
[00:17:29] There's barely any snow there, but, uh, this year is looking like a good snow event. Not really a whole lot different in terms of equipment, but you might bring some extra, extra things to keep things dry. Uh, the people, the people part is the, is the thing that adapts. The cameras are pretty much always the same. We always bring similar lenses and tripods and, you know, that stuff's all sort of the same. Sure. They work a bit differently in the cold. You have to take care of them a little harder.
[00:17:56] You know, it's like, if you go in the desert and it's 110 degrees outside, you got to be a little careful with your camera there too. Right. In the extremes, you got to deal with that. But honestly, it's the people side that changes. It's the, what layers do you bring? What boots do you bring? And I guess same for a desert, you know, what coverings do you bring and what sunscreen and so on? Okay. So that's the, um, surviving the event is probably where the most adaptation is.
[00:18:24] In terms of crew, um, a rally is, I mean, there are exceptions, like, uh, if you would think like Dakar or some of the like really long endurance rallies, but a performance rally is a performance rally is a performance rally. It's a bunch of stages. It's a bunch of transits and, you know, Warwick and, um, the team will go through the, uh, the event notes ahead of time and figure out the number of stages and what we think we can hit in terms of like camera positions.
[00:18:52] And then we go, we send a person or a team out ahead of time to recce the roads and find good camera positions. And then from there we build a plan. So you go into an event with the logistics part to sort out because maybe you've not been to that event or like, for example, at Tennessee, we hadn't been to that one, but you know, at this point we've been to snowdrift many times it's, it changes there's variations, but it's never a completely new rally. And, um, so we have that basis.
[00:19:20] And then, and then the story part is also things, you know, like they announced that that snowdrift, it's going to be Brandon and Travis's new car is not ready. That's announced. So that's sort of part of the storyline. How, how is Brandon going to start his title defense? Where is Travis? When is he coming in? What exactly classes that car that these are the things we'll eventually cover, but you also go into the event going like, it's a race. We're covering a race. So it's the ups and downs of racers. Gotcha.
[00:19:50] So it, the bigger context, like the launch control, the part of the part that has like, well, this happened in this meant that this bigger thing was more significant. That comes with time on the day. We're just kind of collecting the data, you know, and trying to then pinpoint the important bits later. One of the technical aspects of snowdrift too, is so much of what happens at night.
[00:20:15] So when you're picking your camera kit, sometimes you're, maybe you're going to go for a couple extra wide lenses that have a really wide open aperture. So you get lots of light in there. If you're shooting with a F4 long lens or F5.6 really long lens, it's going to be a struggle in the dark. So you're bringing your 2.8s or maybe even a 1.4 lens and some LED light panels to help light things up.
[00:20:39] For the past couple of years, our biggest workhorse camera has been the Sony FX6. It just has incredible low light qualities. It has a dual aperture setting that allows like a dual ISO setting that just allows a lot of light, even in some pretty low light situations. Like I think one of the camera guys mentioned that at Bonfire Alley, they had to actually
[00:21:07] lower their aperture in the middle of the night because the bonfires were so big. Yeah. So that gives you an idea of the kind of light that it can get. But yeah, stuff like that. None of it is like, you know, it's sort of those things are pretty standard. I think rally after rally. Okay. Yeah. Cause, and that's good that you mentioned that about the equipment because Will, who goes by Subaru guy 11, he was wanting to know what kind of equipment you use for, for the video and which one do you like using the most.
[00:21:35] So have, do y'all bring like all of the same type of video equipment and, or do you have a couple of different ones that you end up using? Every camera guy has their own kit. But I think the, our favorite has become the Sony, Sony line FX6, but we have guys with reds. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Okay. That's kind of what, what guys have. We, we contract camera guys, so they're not employees.
[00:22:04] So we're just, um, and it's pretty much a core crew goes to every, every event, same guys. Okay. So, you know, launch control has been a pretty amazing series and, you know, it's been like going on for 12 seasons and now we're starting a 13th season, but with wrapping up season 12, do each of you have a favorite episode from season 12? Yeah. For me, it's episode nine.
[00:22:30] I just thought that that was like the battle of the year. There was no excuses. Travis was great. Brandon was great. Josh was awesome. There was a natural competition that happened. They pushed each other to the max. I thought the feature with Scott is a, is a bit of a special point for me. I was, uh, I went and filmed that and I spent time with their family before when Scott broke his back.
[00:23:00] And, you know, there's lots of people that think Scott is sort of like a polarizing figure. They're not necessarily all like, you know, lots of people like him, but there are some people you can see that they, they don't appreciate them as much. And I think that he's a bit misunderstood because the experiences I've had with him has been so fun and nice and wholesome and honest. Like the guy is brutally honest in these interviews.
[00:23:25] And it was sad for me to only put five minutes into it because, uh, like there was only room for like a five minute feature in there because we didn't want to take away from the Tennessee battle, which was so awesome. But I could have easily done a whole show of that feature. He, he was just really, really, uh, forthcoming. And so I'm, I'm sad that so much of it is on the cutting room floor, to be honest. So that one by far is my fave. And you Warwick?
[00:23:53] I would say I was just actually looking up which episode it was. Episode eight. I really liked, um, again, it was something I shot in Idaho with Rhiannon. So I like telling the backstory. We've been kind of talking about that for a long time is like, we need to explain what the co-drivers do and like how this is a job for everybody who's out there racing. It's not just show up at the race and go racing. They put in a ton of legwork and homework to really be able to drive as fast as they do.
[00:24:22] So I liked that one. I also liked just the first, well, it goes through the whole series, but the story arc of Travis. Like, I think we saw more real Travis than anybody's ever seen before, just in terms of his like mental state, overcoming some like fairly significant injuries. Like these things are catching up to him. So he's reconsidering how he approaches life and he's got kids and a wife.
[00:24:48] And so I thought that was really kind of genuine and fun to watch even for us. Yeah. A little heartbreaking at times. I remember in the hundred acre wood episode, which is I think the third one, you know, he's so good. We would have like an honest conversation with them and then he would go and have an interview with, you know, another outlet. And it's like, he clicks in and okay. Oh yeah. You know, it's a good rally.
[00:25:14] You know, but in, at that event, it was like something was breaking in his head. Like he couldn't hide his lack of understanding of the situation. He couldn't, he, he just couldn't make sense of it. And so there he is going to, you know, outside outlets like Dirtfish and so on and be like, I mean, I just, I don't, I don't know. I don't know. I don't know what I'm doing here. Like it was incredibly raw.
[00:25:40] And if you have followed the series for a long time, you know how rare that is to see him like that. I don't think I've ever seen him like that. And so for a guy who's so good at being genuinely kind and, and to have that like sort of an upbeat to, to have that breaking in on camera was a really rare thing. All our editors were like, Oh, look at that. Like, do you see that? Like that clip?
[00:26:07] Like they, they were all shocked to see what was, what was unfolding in front of them as they were editing. And I think, go ahead. Yeah. You could, you could really see too. Like if anybody's gone through surgery or major injuries, like these things affect you. You can't sleep. You're trying to like take drugs to get to sleep. Like you're just, it's, it compounds itself. It's like no sleep, no sleep, no sleep. You're in pain. You could just see on his face. He was done. He was like, I need a break.
[00:26:35] And then he came back from the break and he's visibly like a hundred percent better. He's having, having fun again, back to old Travis. Like sometimes these things you just need, like, I actually, I'm really proud of him for saying, Hey, you know what? I've spent my whole life pleasing other people. I need to take a step back and have some me time. Yeah. And it seems like he's always just going, going, going, going, you know, he's always doing something. It's like, does this guy just, you know, chill out at home and watch a movie or something, you know?
[00:27:05] Not really. Yeah. Just, he's, he's always going and, but he, you know, I mean, it's, it's a sport that he loves. He grew up in, you know, action sports and he just likes to go and he obviously likes the fan base and is there for them too. But I mean, you know, ultimately he's doing it for himself because he loves to do it. But yeah, he's just, it's, it's nice to see how genuine he can be, whether he's having a good time or breaking like that.
[00:27:33] And it's, it's nice that y'all are able to capture that and bring it to us. Yeah. I think that was also some of the interesting parts of the season was like, I think obviously like once he kind of turned the page in terms of like getting some help with his health and, and recovery to see his process of like, okay, now let's just work on getting faster.
[00:28:01] And then, uh, uh, Laura, uh, Warwick mentioned the, the episode, uh, in Boise episode eight and to get Rhiannon's explanation of the things that they did to kind of start to work on the notes, make it more something that he could absorb. It was a, those pieces, they all kind of click together and you start to see the pace and, uh, and it was, it's an interesting exercise to like watch that progress. You don't usually get to see it.
[00:28:31] It happens over seasons, you know, like an F1 driver comes in as a rookie. It'll take them five years to kind of hit peak performance. And, and those like many increments upwards, they're, they're so small. And here it is a guy going from way down to way up, like way off the pace to way on the pace in, in like a matter of episodes. It's, it's a, it's a rare. You mentioned earlier that you wish you would have had more time to feature, you know, Scott speed.
[00:29:00] And you had the episode where you featured more of Rhiannon and then also Keaton Williams is, do you see that being something that you might want to try to incorporate into season 13 or maybe even like a little offshoot of launch control where you do some more features with the people so that you can get some more time with them? Yeah, certainly. I think it will be, we've had conversations about what launch control was in the past. What is this year?
[00:29:29] What it'll be next year. And more of that is coming in. And, and unfortunately it probably means some modification and how we cover the events in the launch control episodes. It won't necessarily all be full events. It'll probably be more contextualized, but we're still, the other thing that fans can look forward to is we're still doing the shorter, the recap videos a few days after the event. So you're going to get your action fixed right away.
[00:29:59] And then launch control really is about the context of the greater story. So yeah, 100% we, we want to have more stuff behind the scenes and, uh, and deep digs on, on the, the other things. Yeah. I think this year we successfully went back to, um, shows that your non-motorsports partner can sit down and watch with you. And there, there's still something of interest. Like the human interest story is really important. It's how the series started.
[00:30:29] And I think we talked about that on the last episode of like we, the team wasn't doing well. So we needed something, some context to show what goes into this stuff. And we're, we're back to that and back to the human interest side. So that helps. And there's just, uh, there's definitely a demand for more of that. And this year with Brandon possibly being lacking some competition at the top of the leaderboard. Yeah. Uh, we'll certainly be looking at how to make that more interesting. And, um, certainly the Travis story will be there again.
[00:30:57] And there is some interesting things coming down the pipe for season 13. Um, we'll see Scott speed again, project midnight, uh, there is another special car coming. That's all I can say about that. But, uh, we are allowed to see that. Okay. I have to look for that. Yeah. Oh, the special car. Yeah. Well, after watching this season and the feature with, you know, Scott speed and, and project midnight, I have so much more respect for him in the car now.
[00:31:25] I mean, it's the way that you covered what it was the way that you covered. It was pretty amazing. And I really enjoyed watching it. I actually think we, I, yeah, thanks. You're welcome. I wish we could have shown more of his F1 background. It's actually surprisingly hard to get F1 content, especially from back then, but like he is a very, very, very good race driver. Oh yeah. He got dropped into F1, I think a little bit, uh, in the deep end, but you don't get there without being very special.
[00:31:54] And maybe not in a perfect situation either. Yeah. Like the car that, the car that he was given was in sort of a bad way. So yeah, there's a lot there, but yeah, no. And he just got picked cherry picked. Most people, you know, buy their way into F1 or have backing to get themselves to F1 in one way or another. And he really did it with performance-based competition and you're in. Wow. Yeah. That's a rare thing.
[00:32:21] He's been a very successful driver in pretty much everything that he's competed in. Yep. I think his wife, you know, kind of pointed out how quickly when he showed up to NASCAR, she thought he was a joke and, you know, he showed up and, oh, look at that. He, uh, you know, he wins. And then he goes from the truck to the, to his friend. Oh, he wins. And then, you know, like he just went through the ranks. Win, win, win. And, you know, like it just, he did it very quickly. Chris's interview with him was really interesting. A bunch of it made the show.
[00:32:51] That interview is like an hour and 15 minutes. Wow. There's so much there. And every time we would get into something deep, I'd be like, there's no way I can use this. I have to steer back to the, but I mean, it was like, I could have interviewed him for four hours there. He was just an open book and it was wild. So yeah, yeah. So much there. We'll see some of that come back next season. I'm sure. Or at least talk to him about it again.
[00:33:17] So speaking of drivers, another question that we'll head is, do you think Leah block will come back to a rally with Subaru in 2025? I'd say everything's on the table, but, uh, I think, I think this year is her year to really focus on the Academy. She started to get results at the end of last season. This is her season to go in and try and win that championship. Nice. Yeah. That's very clear.
[00:33:43] I think it's a good thing. my brain just goes well if Travis isn't in that other fast car that other fast car is available I don't know that Subaru has the money to pay to put people in the seat but I'm I'm also not sure if Subaru would have any complaints if someone showed up with some dollars and tried
[00:34:10] to rent it and compete with Brandon so you know what that means for Leah I don't know I think she her heart is in rally and I think she probably will make some sort of return at some point I don't know in what capacity but it certainly wasn't a closed door it's an open door yeah that's good yeah I know a lot of people like to see her back and it was nice to see her last season for a little
[00:34:35] bit to race and do a really good job yeah again it was like one of these things how much time do we have to set up Leah and how much time do we want to take in the episode to do that but like I mean she's in the Formula One Academy like that's a huge thing so she's racing open wheels she's done extremey she's done rallycross in the the full electric thousand horsepower electric car and in
[00:35:03] the feeder series she's done two wheel drive champion and rally in area she's been carding and she's got she had mentorship from her father at a very young age she just has she's been at Pike's Peak you know all these things there was all these other ones that we could we just at some point you got to stop saying her successes and like yeah this girl's been in everything and she my conversations with her was
[00:35:30] like wow this this is not some little girl this is like 10 block witty smart analytical thinking about the questions answering truthfully but you can you know there's just so much thought behind there I really was I didn't know I expected a lot from her because she she's doing so well and she is like a really bright light she's an intellectual smart racer I think her future is incredibly bright and it's
[00:35:59] it's not um just because of her last name I think everything she's driven really kind of builds on that I would love to see her get back in the Subaru for one or two more events if if not more but uh she she got a little robbed of the seat time at LSPR by going off but she was really showing some true potential there and oh yeah with just more seat like she she basically had a test that week and
[00:36:24] then jumped into an open class car for the first time so yeah it was a and not just an open class car like uh a ripper like off of the line yeah yeah like yeah oh and that opening stage I mean I wish we could have just run the hole on board until her crash but she she visibly stepped it up it was fast so there's a lot of talent there incredible yeah yeah I'm nothing but I mean I can't speak highly
[00:36:53] enough about it I think she's I think she's rad yeah she's uh she's pretty amazing so with uh with the new rally car coming for from Vermont sports car for Travis will you be following that build and some of his new ventures into the new era of rally for him and uh do you kind of have an idea of how much coverage that will receive sorry it's a new era for rally in America because he's going to bring
[00:37:20] something new to uh the championship no matter what he does this could be pretty cool obviously you want people in the top spec cars but it could be really interesting with him competing at a more budget conscious level that other people might see themselves being able to compete on even footing I don't know so so he's he's basically I believe going into open open light right four-wheel drive
[00:37:47] light or what they used to call production class so so Raph if if there's people listening that don't follow rally deeply what that means is like uh so for example our top cars are open class there's the amount of modifications that have been done is just you know the the book is very very long and the rule book is quite wide open so you can make a lot of changes and do all kinds of stuff this class is basically like don't mess with the car you can put a bunch of safety stuff in
[00:38:16] and you can update your suspension with something that's a little more rally ready and uh you know that's it you can't mess with the engine you can't mess with suspension points you can't mess with anything and it's it's supposed to be buy a car put a cage in it and go race and so that's the class he's going to be in so still going to be a Vermont sports car built car so he's still going to have the best one in the class he's going to have all the advantages and the best
[00:38:44] mechanics I mean that's just what a an all-star gets but at the same time he's going to be competing against dudes that are can literally match his equipment it it's going to be awesome so for all those guys that said oh yeah give me his car and I'll be just as fast as he is I think like there's some it's time to put your money on on your words because the yo yo it's coming
[00:39:10] yeah yeah that's gonna be fun to watch that and see where that goes and see how he does and I mean he he's obviously a very very talented and skilled driver but it'll see it'll be interesting to see how it is with him behind the wheel of one of those and how well he does as as far as like you know because there's a lot of other people that have been racing in that class for a long time and yeah not that that you know because they've been doing it longer there's you know they're going to
[00:39:37] be better than him but it'll just be interesting to see the matchup I would put my money on Travis all day that's who's going to win that race oh yeah but but uh yeah yeah it's totally it will be fun to see because he'll be he'll be in a battle I think that class is often the most participated class I mean there are some open class cars and but like I think in a field in the U.S. when there's
[00:40:02] like 60 70 entries like the biggest class is those uh open lights so he could be in a field with I don't know what 30 cars yeah I haven't I haven't looked that deeply at it but that that would be my guess so that's uh that's a battle so here's an interesting question so if he's going to be he's going to be changing classes is Rian and going to be his co-driver still yeah yep okay okay yeah I
[00:40:32] wasn't sure if that's what she was going to do or if maybe she was going to hop in with somebody else or there was just something completely different for her but that'll be cool be good to have him racing with her yeah that relationship between co-driver and driver is so important so I'm sure he wants wants that relationship to continue and she's really good for him I think because she's a good manager of what's going on in the car and she she can bring in that element that we saw a little bit
[00:40:59] this year for yeah almost being like a sister to him helping helping him through some of the some of the things he was going through yeah and they are such a great team together too they work so well and you know she works really really hard with all the time that she puts in preparing for each race and then studying and watching videos I mean she does a lot of work you know it's more than just
[00:41:23] being a co-driver and calling out the pace notes I mean she puts in a ton of work and it's pretty impressive to see and she's you know she's so devoted to it she's been doing it for so long and it's cool that she and her husband are both co-drivers and they've got the Oz Rally Pro School so it's uh it's her life as she's mentioned they're total pros yeah yeah they're total pros and and they put in
[00:41:47] you know that's the work that's expected at that level on a factory team is is and and they do it happily and very successfully but yeah I think actually Travis is really lucky to have her and not the other way around to be honest because he's in a position where he doesn't necessarily always have time to put as much energy into the prep for the rally and she's ready to do double the work and all the hand holding and to make sure that you know when he shows up she's he's been given
[00:42:16] just the information he needs and only that and he's he gets to be super well prepared with minimal effort so it's amazing it's an amazing connection there so yeah he's quite lucky and you see Keaton and Brandon doing the same thing like they're always studying studying hard and between events passing stuff back and forth and I think that's one of the big differences like Chris was saying like okay now you can drive the same car spec as Travis let's see you put in the results but there's not a lot of
[00:42:46] people putting in that much work to really improve between the rallies yeah yeah and you got to think so many of these guys are just prepping their own cars and and working nights and evenings and weekends to get the car ready for the next rally and stuff like that I wonder how many of them have the time beyond that to to sit down and do stage notes reviews and so on so yeah uh yeah interesting to see
[00:43:12] so with this past season Tennessee was a new event for the Subaru team do you know if there's going to be any other new events or is Tennessee going to be back on the rotation is there going to be anything out of the U.S. by chance this season is there anything y'all can tell us about that so the ARA season is the same this year so Tennessee's back there's no new events that's kind
[00:43:37] of normal um we're almost always the same events Tennessee was a an odd situation where nobody had been to that event before which was a nice change by all accounts it was really well received the roads were super technical and interesting rally internationally wise we don't have anything confirmed um there's definitely some stuff in the works not necessarily for rally but project midnight and
[00:44:01] other other projects like goodwood maybe uh I don't know actually we're going back there this year okay we kind of accomplished kind of accomplished what they wanted to accomplish last year so I don't know we'll see yeah that was that was cool to see that yeah I know goodwood always likes to have Subaru there so um yeah we'll see okay yeah I wish we could say more about those bleeps still the bleeps that were at the end of the episode are still the bleeps here unfortunately yeah yeah
[00:44:31] the the issue the issue is uh budgets only get confirmed like kind of around now in the next month or so okay so everybody's everybody's just working on budgets and gotcha how do we how do we pay for things and what's what are things going to cost yeah yeah so we're almost we're basically like if you really think about it we're operating on on last year's budget to go to snowdrift so okay um that's sort of like it's just the logistics thing but it is a funny thing about
[00:44:57] about Subaru and when their fiscal year is and how that works with the rally schedule so uh at the end of season or sorry at the end of episode 10 Brandon said maybe we go somewhere else or we take a look at new challenges or new video projects or some fun activations to kind of bring rally to people are there going to be some new video projects again we don't know um he he did a
[00:45:24] couple international rallies on his own last year so he did rally new zealand that was in the show he also went to latvia and ran a round of the world rally championship i'm sure he wants aspirationally he'd like to and i think the team i think we could say the team would like to as well but uh yeah it's just it's budget and money i think there's the understanding from uh from Subaru that
[00:45:52] if you're gonna have a champion you gotta give them you gotta give them his cake you know um so they need to find something for him but i i don't know that they know exactly what that is and where and when but okay you know i don't think they they want him to go win a championship but they also don't want him to be bored out of his mind so there's there is that discussion and understanding that but i don't know that there's anything set from there just a lot of hopes and wants and dreams the
[00:46:22] challenge is the subaru or not even super but open class in north america doesn't really fit in any championships elsewhere in the world it's a little more of an open class than anywhere else other places are running to the the rally to spec or things like that and we don't really fall into that so it's a challenge to take a subaru car elsewhere okay yeah we've run into that problem
[00:46:46] before so here's the like deep dive backstory if uh we got long long time launch control fans a bunch of years ago we went to wales with david higgins and we competed in the world rally championship there now the car they drove was a car that was built there it was basically a production car that's actually very similar to what a group and are very similar to what travis will end up being in
[00:47:11] this year different but like you know negligibly different and um the original plan was to take david's full open class car rewrap it into the the column of clay column of clay throwback livery and run it and the f1 or sorry uh wrc said no and we said well what about exhibition what about
[00:47:36] just for fun what about whatever we just want to run our fast car at your event and it got blocked over and over and over again so they ended up you know building something there and using it and then selling off the car after the event but that just goes to show you how hard it is and how much all these organizations stick to their rules and you know you just you just can't come in so it's that's sort of where the challenge is it's also kind of the response to all the people
[00:48:03] posting comments going like okay now come do wrc well super doesn't really make a car that fits in that yeah um yeah that makes sense even even production wise there's there's no like 1.6 um leader engine things like that so it would be for all those people asking them to come to diversity it's not as simple as going okay let's go it's like it's a multi-year build-up process
[00:48:28] yeah they need a new chassis that would fit the series they needed although they did remove that rule but they would need a new engine that would fit that series they've moved suspension points which you're not allowed to do there's a oh it's a it's a long list yeah too much just uh too much to build a different car just to go do that yeah and to be honest like subaru usa is the biggest market for subaru around the world you go to europe you don't see very many subarus so it's kind of
[00:48:59] i think japan would really have to get on board with wrc we'll see it might happen one day but so i guess you can't talk anymore about anything coming up with project midnight because i know that lance smith at the end of episode 10 said that that was just you know not their full effort for it and it's kind of like a sideline effort so it sounds like there are some things planned for project midnight this year but anything you can throw out there or maybe you don't know yet
[00:49:28] bleep bleep we can throw out the same thing we threw out at the end of episode 10 all right i mean a little context to that i think what what he was really saying was look at this wicked machine we did in in basically four months we threw this thing together with you know basically things we had already around the shop and we made this wicked thing and isn't it awesome so that was his whole our that wasn't our best effort they didn't spend two years developing some crazy
[00:49:58] track monster they just took what they had and made it so that was that they want to take it to other places they have a laundry list of things they could do to make the car faster they'd like to do that some of those are expensive like right now they they're still running basically rally brakes or or like really good street
[00:50:23] brakes but they could go to like track spec like was it carbon fiber or yeah carbon fiber brakes and and those start to be like five thousand dollars a corner or something like that so uh you start to see the the the next steps up from what they are doing is is big like for example they they could certainly go faster but they would need to rethink their gearbox
[00:50:50] and instead of the company that makes the gearbox they don't make one for that spec that with a taller gear ratio so they'd almost have to like get them to build them a custom one or look at it as someone else to do a transmission for it and you know that's that's just such big money yeah that was my thought like oh could we go do like nurberg ring or like record record laps around places but i guess it's not
[00:51:16] like it's got lots of torque and lots of power and speed but it it doesn't have the long legs that those tracks need yeah yeah yeah it's a cool car though definitely yeah but it's gonna it's gonna go and it's gonna do some stuff i'm sure we're gonna see it just yeah it's not gonna sit idle no no they're very stoked on it and the response has been so positive so i just know that they're just they're
[00:51:39] dying to find the next thing and you know uh the internet does travel so uh i think somewhere in the world you might see that okay so uh charlie who goes by falcon rue one he wanted to know if vermont sports car has any additional rally cars built as backups for the season they usually do have a spare chassis not necessarily a full car built but they um i'm sure they started the season just with the
[00:52:09] two that they had but they often after the season starts finds a moment find a moment to just build a spare shell so that if they had something crazy they've got one in the can okay that that's common and for example with the huckster that car was like a unibody thing and then all the panels kind of bolt onto it you'd be surprised how big these panels are like it's not just like a little quarter panel here and a thing there it was like the whole side of the car clicks on and so they had a whole
[00:52:37] second set of the car pre-wrapped and everything ready to go and when you see it on this it has this little like mounting thing where they leave all the pieces so they're not dragging on the floor whatever it looks like the car until you get close to realize oh no that's just how they support the the panels when they're not using them it's uh it's pretty wild yeah that's that's a definitely a cool and funky car because yeah with when while they're at the races you know if you have
[00:53:06] something that happens they usually i mean it's amazing that those guys fix those cars and get them out on the stages you know they get like a blown tire and suspension and all this stuff happens and then they're under there fixing it up and next thing you know they're out racing again it's pretty incredible yeah yeah a huge part of designing and building an open class rally car is the ability to remove and replace stuff quickly so they'll they'll have like a subframe assembly
[00:53:37] for the gearbox and the whole front end that four bolts it drops down and you've you've dropped the gearbox in a production car you'd have to undo all sorts of stuff so that's part of the design process of those cars is how do we repair this thing quickly in the field on jack stands yep charlie also asked how many drones do you lose during a season ah zero chris is flying that's good not anymore not
[00:54:01] anymore no we lost zero this year right i don't believe we lost one yeah no i didn't say we didn't crash any i just said i don't think we lost any okay i've done a few blade replacements for sure yeah yeah i shot the the snow test at the beginning of the year and so all the trees had no leaves on them and i was doing these sort of hovering shots around the service area where the where the car was being worked on and there was all these like little tiny trees that were sticking out of snow banks
[00:54:30] and i i beached the thing three times just like it hit one of those little twigs and it would drop into the snow bank and i would like rush and dry it off and like get it all better and i'd try to do the shot again and it went right back into the snow bank brandon really had a field day with making fun of me that day and also we we like we have on our crew uh some very good drone pilots and um oregon and olympus
[00:54:57] last year we brought out the shifted cinema guys who bring out all their toys and they're uh very good at what they do and they're not gonna not about to crash they're really expensive drones so yeah that's good yeah and they're they're shooting they're they're doing uh two pilot operation too so like one pilot one camera operator oh nice um so the pilot's just focusing on what the drone is doing and then you got the camera operator i feel like people just think we're a bunch of kids out of film
[00:55:21] school but all the pilot guys have you know they've got their certification and have been insurance and stuff like that so we all we all have a fair amount of hours of flight under our belt yeah that's good my uh my buddy jay who goes by audiophile he wants to know if there will be another jim conno i there might be okay i haven't heard that there isn't all right yeah and then his next question
[00:55:50] was if there is is leah block going to be involved in it definitely don't know the answer to that question yeah yeah that i don't know okay is there anything that you can share about this next season or you know launch control or the next season of rally that i didn't ask about i would flip that question around to our audience what do you want to what do you want to see more of what do you want
[00:56:14] to us to dive into yeah it is good kind of it's a it's a blank slate right now as we plan the season we'll start filming next week at snowdrift but storylines will develop as the season goes on and all those human interest things that we're working on where those are in planning right now so people have cool ideas let us know yeah what do you are the you see any challenges that lie ahead for both of your
[00:56:40] media teams for this next season for me personally i i think the challenge is going to be to contextualize brandon's performances because if if people don't show up to compete against him he's still wicked fast and he's still out winning and and the challenge is to make that interesting and make it compelling so that guy's still doing everything he needs to do and i feel like when those situations arrive
[00:57:09] uh people resent the guy that's winning and i don't i don't think that's fair like the guy is a wicked fast in a wicked fast car he should win and people should try to beat him the tennessee episode up against josh like josh is now in a full spec wc car and did really well at monte carlo yeah so brandon's brandon's a match for any of those guys i think with with the right currency time yeah if if you consider it i mean i guess josh is like a top 10 driver in the world right now at this point so
[00:57:38] for the guys to hang with them and lead and you know push josh into making that kind of a mistake and damaging his car outlasting him at least at the bare minimum i think it showed like the level that these guys are at and and the commitment there is so if if he's going to be all by himself that's that's a rough one and we have to find a way that's going
[00:58:05] to be a real challenge to find a way to you know let people understand how good he is and and not just make it seem like fast car means win you know because like you saw it does not anyone can just step into the car leah did great but brandon was brandon would have certainly been a step or two ahead with travis so there's another level yeah hopefully we'll see somebody that can step up and
[00:58:34] be a competitor at some point during the season and uh just but yeah i mean you know there's still going to be a storyline even if he doesn't have a direct competitor you know there's always some sort of storyline but i think what i would like to see more of is more of the features of the individuals you know kind of like you did with rian and and keaton and you know you said you wanted to
[00:58:59] show more of scott so i think it'd be cool to see more of that throughout the season for you know people yeah i think there's a story there's a story there with scott of of his driver training coaching he does now and we actually tried to figure out a time to film him doing that but we were kind of coming into the end of the season and it wasn't a good opportunity but i think that'll be an avenue we go
[00:59:22] look at he's um now mentoring the next generation which is pretty cool and back to your question about like challenges one of the challenges as as camera operators and just like planning events is we we go to the same events every year often the same stages so we're going into snowdrift next weekend obviously bonfire alley is going to be one of the big features how do we shoot that differently i could
[00:59:48] probably look at the map right now and tell you 10 of the 15 camera locations that we're probably going to go to just because of access points and things like that but how do we shake that up and make it look different can we get somebody can we lock somebody into a unique position we've never been to but still get them out to their next spot in time things like that um fly a drone through the trees you know like around yeah well i was looking i was looking at that like personal detail drone thing
[01:00:17] like you can sit in it and fly around i'm like man that'd be sweet for rallies put your tripod and the camera in it fly to the next stage yeah oh man someone's gonna die yeah that's right but yeah seven i mean the thing with bonfire alley is uh the the race action is not actually the best part of it it's basically a straight line into a 90 into another straight line into a
[01:00:44] slight left and then that's the moment but the the scene there is just a wild like it's a fun night and it's it's a it's a party that's popping off and it's really hard to display it in the context of a race i think we did a pretty good job last year and the year before but i still like having been there
[01:01:09] and i haven't been there in a few years so it's gotten a lot bigger since i've been there and i remember being there being like this is nuts this is so great it's so much fun one of the best parts of any rally in the year and i just i just don't know that we've ever fully done it justice we've done well but there's another level i just uh we're still figuring it out it's hard yeah it's it's to
[01:01:36] the point now where i'm like i'm wondering how long it can continue before it gets shut down it's so huge what is each of your favorite things about doing this i mean you obviously have media companies that you both independently own and and operate but like what is your favorite part about being part of the whole subaru motorsports usa journey and being able to cover this for 12 seasons now and you know
[01:02:04] continuing to come back and do it again like what is what is it for you that just says like i want to keep doing this and it's actually been 15 years now because we did a few years before launch control oh so it's okay it's for me it's been like truly an honor to like tell this team story and and not just the team story but rally's story in north america for that long it's near and dear to my
[01:02:28] heart for sure and um just to be there and occasionally i'm like oh man i'm like kind of burned out but then i go to a rally especially if you're like at night in the middle of the forest and all of a sudden you hear the pop and bang of that rally car coming i'm like oh yeah i still love this yeah for me i mean obviously rally really made my career this is the project that turned my business
[01:02:53] from a guy with a buddy who was sleeping on his couch editing some videos into like a a multifaceted business with uh you know 15 editors working um on projects from all over the world it it grew it grew into that because i could showcase our abilities through launch control and um you know lance credited
[01:03:20] suru for developing all those athletes and stuff in the episode but um they they developed us uh i have this business because not only subaru gave us the money to do it but to their credit they got out of the way and let us just go to work they don't spend a lot of time telling us what we're making they spend a lot of time crafting projects with vsc and building cars and planning on races and
[01:03:49] rally cross back in the day and gymkhana's and all this stuff but you know they really don't spend a lot of time telling us how we should cover the story and what that big arc is we tell them and they might have some thoughts but i find it really funny when i read a comment where they're like oh yeah subaru just wants you to think i'm like they never told me to write that at all you know like no this is my idea if you don't like you can write me it has nothing to do with super i thought of it this way so
[01:04:19] yeah i uh i feel very uh grateful that they just um trust us in this way yeah it's actually the lspr with leah driving the subaru was kind of emotional for me for sure because like chris said this this work with subaru has really set us up on our career but it was ken block who when he left
[01:04:42] subaru he took his film crew with him to ford and he said to chris at vermont sports car like hey give work a call because i had done some work with him in new zealand and stuff and because of ken's reference there we're now where we are here today and uh i owe him a lot we owe him a lot that's awesome we we posted a bunch of pictures in that show of her as like a you know a toddler at events
[01:05:08] and before i owned my own business uh some of those events like i don't know if any of them were actually from canada but ken came and did some canadian events and would bring leah and i remember filming for the canadian broadcaster of the canadian series at the time and he's like holding leah on one hand and she's like bouncing on his hand and at two years old at the podium you know um you know
[01:05:34] the first one or two years of my career uh producing motorsports and rally so her existence sort of coincides with my existence within the sport so you know when i interviewed her at the seat fitting we talked a lot about how much she had been around the sport and i said you know i've known you forever i've seen you forever you you don't know me but and we had like a little exchange it was fun
[01:06:01] so yeah she it was emotional to have that contact content with her but when i first started shooting rally we used to always joke about that the grizzled old rally dudes who'd been in the sport forever and i had kind of had the realization this year they're like oh crap am i that guy now are we the grizzled rally dudes who've been here for 20 years and but yeah it's maybe maybe but you don't hate but you don't complain about the sport cons constantly so you're not there yet
[01:06:28] yeah you gotta work on your angry angry gusts yeah so you you mentioned earlier i want to go back to this real quick the little short episodes that you release after each event so when do those get released as on on a specific day and uh and it's on youtube we aim for wednesday uh depending on when the event finishes we basically need two and a half days to produce the the little mini cut
[01:06:56] so um if the event is finishes on a saturday the footage trend travels on sunday we work monday tuesday and at some point on wednesday it comes out if the event goes to sunday then it's a thursday release that's basically how it works okay and then doesn't subaru motorsports usa don't don't they usually like announce it on their instagram page that it's going to be coming out yeah we'll put out socials like it it's that's why it takes us two and a half days because we make the actual video and
[01:07:26] then we make a bunch of like social teasers and stuff like go see it now or okay so yeah it'd be this the thing that people confuse with launch control they think that those were the launch controls and they're not so um yeah but they're they're still happening so people can still see what what happened at the rally and some action and stuff like that okay it's fun and those are put out on youtube
[01:07:50] i put it on youtube and i think they run them straight up on facebook but i'd have to double check okay yeah because i missed those last year with the season because i wasn't really following the season but i know i know come on man i know i gotta follow that's a good time to go back and find uh rally rundown snowdrift 2024 yeah okay i will see what everyone was keep playing about and i'm i'm kind of
[01:08:19] curious to you this year yeah where's the voice i'm kind of curious this year with travis running in one of the the lower categories there may be an opportunity to kind of spread the coverage around a little bit too like maybe we start talking about all those uh other competitors he's up against so it's it's a good opportunity to kind of spread the love a little bit yeah that's funny you were talking about challenges on the year and maybe this one was one that we should have brought up was that uh
[01:08:46] work and i were talking like normally we film the top five cars we're gone you know because we know that our two cars are gonna be in the first five and then you know the next three guys are probably who we're competing against done cool but now travis might be i don't know is he 10th on the road is he 5th on the road is he 18th on the road and who are his closest competitors are they right behind
[01:09:09] them or are they 10 cars back so we'll need to like stay on the stages a lot longer and and collect that context so that's that is one of the challenges for the year not having both our dudes right at the top yeah it's definitely gonna be different for for y'all and i mean it's gonna be different for people watching too to see travis racing in a different car and like this isn't the same you know exciting fast speed you know that we're used to but it'll be it'll be fun i mean he's gonna race the crap out
[01:09:39] of that car exactly sometimes driving a slow car fast is more exciting to watch than fast car fast so those subarus are on rails the open class cars so the him driving a oh not a production car but it's beyond that but driving that car fast should be quite interesting it'll be old style travis like full sideways again and what's a funny way of calling that car because it's basically like a regular uh like a subaru without aero and all i like now that we know
[01:10:09] the precision of the aero is it like oh that's like the sloppy rally cars or something like i don't know there's got to be a funny way to describe it that's mean i'm sorry they're not sloppy i'll stick to cameras y'all will figure it out the other the other exciting thing that's happening this year in ara is that uh lance from vermont sports car has started a new company rally forward
[01:10:33] which is taking over the promotion of the series nice so that could be a new era in the sport in north america if anybody can take it and run with it i would put my dollars on lance yeah he's been around a while he's made some successful things and then he's built them all on passion so yeah he's a great guy to run this thing i don't know if you're gonna see immediate like if it's gonna be an instant turn but i know give it a give them a couple years to figure out where this where this
[01:11:01] thing goes and i think you're gonna see some momentum build behind it i hope yeah it'd be really interesting to get him on the podcast again because i had him on like a year and a half ago two years ago and uh let me see if see if i can make that happen again yeah that'd be really good just to get his take on what he what he wants to do with the series and where he sees it going and they already brought in kibota as a new sponsor oh nice so there's there's momentum yeah well thank
[01:11:31] you guys for coming on again and uh talking about season 12 kind of wrapping it up and giving what you can about season 13 just gotta stay tuned yeah i will this year yeah thanks for having us on and um welcome yeah reach out to us uh i don't know instagram at formula photo and at bose media inc if people have ideas or questions or whatever and or just uh hit you up with questions and you can
