[00:00:35] Alright, so hey, this is Ryan. You can find me on Instagram at Anonymous underscore TWRX. You are listening to episode 198 of the Subie & You podcast. Hello everybody and welcome back to another episode of the Subie & You podcast. As you just heard, I have Ryan on the podcast today. He is a returning guest. He was previously on episode 49 over three years ago, so he is an OG guest. So it's great to get him back on.
[00:01:03] He also lives here in Houston, so it was nice to be able to record with him in person. And we ended up going for a drive in his WRX, so that was nice. But before we get into his episode and hear a continuation of his Subaru journey and more of his life story, we'll have a word from our sponsor.
[00:01:26] The Subie & You podcast is brought to you by Eccentric Designs. For those of you who don't know, Eccentric Designs is a small, community-driven business that offers custom-fit vinyl overlays for most Subaru models. This includes various designs for the rear reflectors, taillights, and side taillights. I also offer fun decal designs like the popular fender stripes and stickers.
[00:01:48] To find designs for your Subie, head on over to eccentricdesigns.com. There's always more projects in the works, so be sure to follow at eccentric.designs on Instagram. Be sure to give Eccentric Designs a follow on Instagram if you are not already doing so, and go check out her website.
[00:02:05] And as a reminder, if you were a previous guest on the podcast and you would like a decal with your specific episode number, you can go to eccentricdesigns.com, go to the search, and just type in episode, and you will find the episode-specific decals there. And as always, thank you so much, Eccentric Designs, for sponsoring the Subie & You podcast.
[00:02:28] So, as you may have seen in my stories and Pearl's stories, I changed out my CV axles, which was great. It didn't take very long. Me and my son Luke did it, so that was a lot of fun to be able to do that together. And we kind of equally did, you know, the same amount of work on getting those old axles pulled out and the new ones put in, and we definitely had to work together to get it done.
[00:02:54] I am going to tell the story about everything on the Subie Scoop next Monday, but there's more to the story than just changing out the axles, and there's something that I discovered. So, be sure to tune in for the Subie Scoop next Monday to hear all about it, and it was, yeah, you'll just have to wait and hear it.
[00:03:19] So, this past weekend was the first weekend of Overland Expo, so go check out the Overland Expo Instagram page. Also, I'm sure, hopefully Subaru USA will be throwing some stuff up there. But, and also go check out Mountain Subie's Instagram page, because she had her Subaru at the Subaru booth this weekend.
[00:03:41] So, it'll be nice to see what the first weekend was like, and as you know, I had Joe on for an episode to talk to him about Overland Expo, but we're going to also do a wrap-up at the end of all of the Overland Expo events, which the last one is in October. So, we'll have to have a follow-up episode and see how it went for Subaru at Overland Expo 2025.
[00:04:07] Speaking of Subaru, Rally in the 100 Acre Wood was this past weekend in Missouri, so I'm sure there's going to be a lot of coverage and footage of that from the Subaru Motorsports USA page. So, be sure to go check that out. And, again, speaking of Subaru, be sure to go check out SubaruGear.com.
[00:04:26] One of the collections that they have at SubaruGear.com is the Motorsports collection, where you can go and find all sorts of items that are branded with Subaru Motorsports USA. But, of course, they have so many great other items all throughout the page, so be sure to go explore, fill up your cart, and use the code SUBINU25 at checkout.
[00:04:48] This discount code will get you 20% off of your purchase, and if your total is over $50 after the 20% discount, you will automatically get free shipping, which is a really great added bonus. So, thank you so much, SubaruGear.com, for sponsoring the SUBINU podcast and extending this great offer to our listeners. I was going to save this for next Monday, but there's...
[00:05:16] So, normally, I release episodes with guests every other Monday, so two weeks from today would be another episode with a guest. But I'm going to have two weeks of the SUBISCOUP, and then on April 7th, I will release the next guest episode.
[00:05:39] And there's a very specific reason that I will be releasing the next episode on April 7th. So, you'll just kind of have to wait and hear about that a little bit more. Maybe I'll throw out some teasers in the next couple of SUBISCOUPs over the next couple of weeks. But it will be a good wait, let me just say that.
[00:06:01] So, anyway, I think we will go ahead and get into this episode with Ryan and hear all about his WRX again, and also where he's kind of at in life and where he's headed. Because it was really great talking to him and finding out some more about what's going on with him. Even though he lives here in the Houston area and we keep in touch through Instagram occasionally, he's got a lot of stuff going on, you know, I've got a lot of stuff going on.
[00:06:28] So, it's not always easy to, like, get together. But the last time that we actually saw each other in person was at the big event at Gilman Subaru Southwest in 2023. So, we hadn't seen each other in quite some times, like a year and a half. So, it was really great to catch up and then, of course, have him on the podcast again.
[00:06:51] So, anyway, we'll go ahead and get into this conversation with Ryan, Anonymous, TWRX. Here we go. Heck yeah, man. Welcome back to round two. Dude, I know. It's been too long.
[00:07:20] Yeah, I know. And you and I haven't even seen each other since the big event in 2023, right? Yes, sir. I think so, yeah. So, it's been quite a while. And I think your last episode was in December of 21. Yeah. So, that was the first year of the podcast. But yeah, it's been quite a while. Man, yeah, I know. It's been a while. So many people have asked, you know, hey, is Ryan ever going to do a number two episode? And, you know, what's new with this?
[00:07:50] And man, I think I saw his car here. And like I said last time, I think a lot of people have thought I was in California. Yeah. Yeah, it's kind of odd. And I've always thought that was so funny. But I'm like, no, I'm here in Texas. Yep. Well, so before we get anything else started, because I wasn't doing this back then, we got to ask you the most important question is whether you prefer waffles or pancakes. Oh, man. Waffles all the way. Oh, man. Come on. Stevie Waffle people. Yeah, waffles for me, man, all the way.
[00:08:17] Especially like if you get like a really nice good Belgian waffle and some powdered sugar. Yeah. Bro, that's good. Pancakes are good. Yeah. Flap jacks, you know. But yeah, man. Well, if I had to choose for sure waffles. Yeah. All right, then. That's fair enough, I guess. Yeah. So, yeah, like I was saying, I mean, the last time you were here was over three years ago. Your episode, your first episode released December 6th on 2021. So, you know, obviously the car looks similar.
[00:08:47] But what are like some of the major changes that you've done since then? Yeah, man. So, we've added some Rays 57 DRs in the gun blue. Put the highlighter stickers on it just to accent the full parent dress up that I have inside the car. A lot more carbon aspects going on to it. Side, you know, Aeroflow carbon diffusers. Side skirts. Got the new Seabon VS carbon hood. Red carbon hood struts.
[00:09:15] You know, everything changes mildly. I really haven't removed anything besides mainly the roof rack setup. Yeah, because you definitely had a different roof rack setup. Because I know you were doing camping and stuff. And so, you had your bigger box up there. And you had your camping gear. You're like, I've got a tent in there. And I've got chairs. And I've got this. And I was like, oh, my gosh. That's crazy. Yeah, lights all the way around. Like recovery gear. I mean, that thing was decked out. Then I sold it. And I was going to focus on just mainly performance. Which I have been.
[00:09:45] But then got into trail riding. And then I missed kind of like having an extra cargo space up top. And I slapped another Rome box on there. Which is the 85L in black. And I liked it just for, at least for my chassis build. And kind of what I'm going for. It's a little slimmer. A little more low pro. And I just have the bike rack on the other side. For when the bike goes up for trail riding. And man, it does the job for me. It looks good. Not major wind noise at all. So, I know you've done some stuff performance wise.
[00:10:15] Because when we recorded, I didn't, you know. I think maybe you took me for a ride the first time. But I didn't drive it. And then at some point, I don't know. Maybe a year and a half ago or so. I came over. And you helped me with my ditch lights. And we took your car for a drive. And you let me drive it. Which was awesome. And you're like, man, you got to come back. Because it's going to be even faster. Yeah. It has changed quite a bit since last time you drove it.
[00:10:43] I mean, besides the dress up, it's got the new HKS blow off valve on there. Pair and charge pipe. Upgraded top mount Mishimoto intercooler. I'm still waiting to do the Protune downpipe and headers. Only reason is financials. Yeah. Once those things are done. And I guess the Protune. Hopefully, I can be in the mid fours on this car. I think that's exactly where I would like it to stay. Okay. Yeah.
[00:11:11] I mean, when I drove it, it was pretty fun. Oh, it was decent then. It's a lot more fun, I guess, now. Yeah. Because, I mean, I drive a Crosstrek. And it's quite a difference. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I mean, it's cool. Because I feel blessed. Because I've driven your car. I've driven an STI. I've driven a Legacy GT wagon. And so, I've driven some fast cars. And, you know, it's been fun.
[00:11:36] I rode in Rodnock and Clifford. Yep. That was insane. Yeah. That was just, like, absolutely insane. But, yeah. So, it's been fun to be part of this community. And, you know, even though I'm more, like, on the off-road side, it's fun to, like, hang out with people on the tuner side. Yeah, merge in. Yeah. And, like, you know, Riggs & Trurros, at least for us local down here, hanging out with Space City Subies. And you had mentioned Larissa. You know, I'll normally say hi to her every time we're at an event together.
[00:12:05] You know, everybody's very helpful in the scene. Yeah. And, you know, it's just a good community to be a part of, I would say. Yeah. So, anybody that's new listening to this episode that didn't maybe listen to your episode previously, like, what's the story behind your Instagram name? And then, is that also the name of your car? So, yeah. I've gotten that before. Or anonymous underscore TWRX.
[00:12:32] And I just kind of liked it for the Instagram aspect of just being mainly for the vehicle build side of things. Every now and then, you might catch me in a picture on a story or someone else's story. Yeah. But what's fun about it is the car shows up at a meet or an event and they're like, wait, that's anonymous's car? Well, where is he? Who does he look like? Who knows? Yeah. Because there's a lot of accounts that, you know, you never see the person. You only see the car. Right. Right.
[00:13:02] And then, obviously, WRX. But what's the T for? The T is just for turbo. Oh, okay. Gotcha. Yeah. Turbo WRX. Okay. But I thought it was pretty cool. Yeah. The car really doesn't really have a name. I kind of was going off when I had the Overland build as Dirt Shark just since it's silver and black. Yeah. A lot of the accents and kind of gave me the, like, shark vibes. But, yeah, I never really picked out a name for it. Okay. And just for context, for people listening, we're recording in his garage. So, there's just some people leaving a little while ago. There's birds chirping outside.
[00:13:32] Yep. Yep. You've got the garage door open. In the anonymous garage, as someone say. Yeah. So, yeah, it's nice because, like, so also the last time that I was here, I had, like, my whole podcast mixer. I had microphones and everything. And now having the Rode Wireless Pro is really nice. It's a lot more convenient. Yeah, it's nice. Yeah. Yeah. So, I know you've had some sponsors or at least partnerships before. Have you gotten any new ones since you were last on the podcast?
[00:14:01] I think some of the newer ones is I picked up Perrin. They had liked the build and they helped support, you know, basically the full engine dress up, as you see, is all highlighter yellow. Yeah. You know, as many Perrin things as I could get is basically in that vehicle, even into the shifter. I got Blackview Dash camera also. Nice. Yeah, yeah. Now I remember that. I've been running Blackview dash cams for a few years now. And then I just would, you know, share a video or two here and there of what I saw on the
[00:14:29] road or people be careful. This is what I caught. And then out of nowhere, they just decided to send me a private message. And they were like, hey, we really like your car. Thank you for running our dash cameras. We would like to fully sponsor you with our latest dash cam and battery box and all this stuff. Just send me your name and email and address and keep doing what you're doing. And we'll send it out to you. And I was like, wow, that's okay. That's awesome. Yes. Yeah. Thank you. You know, and they did.
[00:14:57] It came within like a week later of that message. Nice. And I have the full front and rear camera of Blackview in here. All thanks to their generosity and kindness for that. For sure. Yeah. You know, I mean, it's like there's, there's, I know there's some intentionality sometimes with, you know, trying to pick up sponsors, but then there are situations like that where you're just using a product because it's something that you love. Right. And that you, you know, it works well and then people reach out to you. Exactly. By the way. Oh yeah. That's really cool. Yeah. It's a great feeling.
[00:15:26] And then I picked up, um, I'm also a diode, uh, dynamic ambassador now. Nice. So if you guys are listening to this, you guys can use my code Smitty at, uh, checkout for free shipping. And, you know, diode's a great company. I've had their stuff inside the car for a few years. Got the ditch lights on here. Got their fog lights on here. And then once we picked up the new Subaru build that we talk about here in a minute, went ahead and slapped in the, uh, diode ditch lights on the, on the Forester also. So it's, it's a, it's a good company to be a part of.
[00:15:57] Yeah. Yeah. We'll have to get into that other Subaru here a little bit. But, uh, so are there like with your car and the setup and everything, are there any mods that you had on there? I mean, you did change out the wheels. So I'm kind of, you know, going in that direction of like, is there anything that you had on it before a different brand that you decided to switch and change out like other than the wheels? Yeah. So far I would say the carbon hood got changed out and the wheels. Okay.
[00:16:24] Everything else is basically still the same and have just been added onto. And then I've gotten into a titanium fix lately where I've got the lit logos with their custom, uh, titanium cover that says WRX on the front. Uh, I got JDC's titanium, uh, license plate delete on the front. And then I got titanium works, uh, titanium Subaru emblem on the front of the car. Um, that a lot of people are like, where in the crap did you get that? And I'm like, dude, I haven't seen many people running a titanium emblem like that.
[00:16:53] Normally they'll just, you know, put a cover over their OEM Subaru stars. And I was like, well, I'm going to change the grill out to a carbon grill. What would look really nice with that is a titanium, uh, super emblem. Yeah. It looks really good. So I just was like, and then man, once I started getting titanium, I had to get the titanium shift knob and I was like, oh my gosh, this is another rabbit hole. Yeah. Going down. It's going down. Yeah. The louvers are new too, right? Yeah. Race louvers, uh, actually cut into the fender for that.
[00:17:22] Uh, about a year ago I did that here in the garage by myself. And, uh, it was, you know, you had to line up the car. And hopefully I measured correctly. It was my first time doing that. And, uh, once I got them in, man, they look good. Yeah, they do. They take a lot of heat out of the engine bay over driving and it's a cool feature and also helps, uh, engine temps go down. Yeah. Yeah. For like, you know, the off-road scene, a lot of people are putting louvers in their
[00:17:49] hoods and, uh, you know, to dissipate the heat. Cause especially when you're like going on trails, you're, you know, you're building up, generating a lot of heat. And so that helps to dissipate that too. So exactly. You see that a lot. Yeah, it's pretty cool. And I haven't seen another Subaru unless you buy like the carbon fenders that already have the vents in it that kind of run this kind of a, of a louver. Nice. Nice. Oh yeah. So when did you, or have you had your WRX dynoed? And like, what is your horsepower?
[00:18:18] Currently it has not been. Okay. Yeah. But I'm going to stick to my goal sometime this year, man. Headers down pipe and Protune are coming on that car. Gotcha. I'm hoping to be in the fours. Yeah. Maybe a little over, but as a safe daily for now, especially since I take, you know, my son to school in it, it don't need to be full on crazy. Plus I'd like to get another daily driver. So before I do anything too nutty on this vehicle, it's got to be in the safe parameters. Yeah.
[00:18:47] So if you're going to be getting another daily driver, is it going to be another Subaru? I really like the wilderness cross tracks. If it was going to be just for me, I would like to get a wilderness cross track. And those things are so cool. And just do all the whole overland stuff. And then this car can just be the fast thing that sits in the garage for a little bit. Yeah. I mean, because I thought about, you know, Pearl's at a hundred and actually, was it? It was Thursday.
[00:19:17] I hit one, two, three, four, five, six. Oh, that's crazy. Yeah. So got a little video of it flipping over, took a picture of it. But, you know, Pearl's getting up there in mileage and, you know, she's other than having to change out my axles, I'm going to get some lower control arms soon just because the bushings and everything are going bad. But, I mean, she's been doing great. And, you know, I've thought about maybe, you know, upgrading, getting another new one or something.
[00:19:45] However, Pearl's a manual. And so that's like, it'd be hard to do that. I mean, I think what I would like to do if I could at some point is just have a second car. Right. You know, so that I don't have to continue to put a ton of miles on it. Yeah. Because that's the only car I have. Yep. So got to take care of it. Yeah, exactly. Hey, I know exactly how that feels. That's what I want to do is I want to keep this vehicle because it's also the vehicle I brought both my kids home in. Yeah.
[00:20:10] You know, took the Subaru out to the hospital and, you know, I got this thing new stock. Yeah. So I've been the only one. It's not stock anymore. Yeah. I've been the only one to have it and upgrade it and see its growth. And, you know, friends and family and other events I've seen it and it's changed a lot. And man, this thing is pushing 10 years old now since I've had it. And I think I'm almost at 50K on this car. Yeah.
[00:20:40] I've had Pearl for like four and a half years and I'm at 120K. It's funny. I hear people talk about their low mileage and they've had their car twice as long as mine. Yeah. I thought it was cool. Chevron with Tecron actually featured this vehicle on their page. Nice. Not too long ago, you know, I use their fuel additive in the fuels and, you know, Valvoline fuel and all that stuff. And I mainly prefer Chevron fuel actually in this vehicle. And then, yeah, that's another random thing out of the blue, just tagging them here and there.
[00:21:10] And they reached out to me and I had to fill out a little, you know, kind of an about me. Yeah. And they accepted it. And then they slapped me up on their Instagram page and gave me a small feature of. That's really cool. Here's about Ryan. Here's his bill. They put the picture of Bucky Lastic next to it, too, when we were at a big event. Oh, yeah, yeah. Nice. And they thought that was pretty cool. And, you know, it's really nice just to have, you know, people just appreciate your car and just kind of get recognition, even if you're not looking for it.
[00:21:40] Yeah. It's kind of like what we were talking about before. It's just when you're just doing something already and then they come along. Yeah, man. Absolutely. So I know you've had it. We just mentioned big events. So you had it at big event. I know you've had it there before. But are there any other like events or car shows that you've had your car in? So lately, no. Big event was actually the last time this vehicle was publicly displayed. And that's an actual thing right there is it was inside the showroom. Yeah.
[00:22:09] It wasn't just part of the show. So they reached out and wanted this vehicle inside their showroom. And I thought that was super cool. I was like, dang, to look at the vehicle and think it's nice enough or you guys appreciate it and other people appreciate it. When I think there's other cooler builds out there, you know, but you wanted my vehicle to be inside the showroom. I was absolutely blessed, man. And I thought that was so cool. My dad came out and saw the event and he just thought that was the coolest thing, you know,
[00:22:38] walking around the show, seeing other people, but seeing his son's vehicle as a display vehicle for Subaru. Man, I thought that was so cool, especially since I got to share that with my wife and two kids. Yeah. And also got to catch up with Bucky. And since we were there, me and you were hanging out at the event early in the morning and I had Bucky actually sign the interior of the vehicle. So that was cool, man. There's a lot of cool things. I also took home my first trophy at Big Event with this car.
[00:23:07] You know, it's been at other events, but I actually took home my first trophy with this car from Big Event 14. And that was a huge accomplishment. I was like, heck yeah, man. Thank you. I did not expect that. And then when they called my name, I was like, just being in the show alone as a display vehicle, I think for them, was enough for me. And then when they called my name for the trophies and Bucky handed it to me, I was like, bro, hey, that's awesome, man. I appreciate that. Super cool moment. Yeah, that was so fun. Great memory.
[00:23:37] But like I said, since then, no, it's gone to little maybe minor meets, but that was its last big debut. Yeah. Yeah. You're actually going to be in a little show today, aren't you? I am going to be in another show today for a little local meet and greet and food gathering for J&D Motorworks. Yep. They're a big part of this build. They do a lot of my big heavy overhauling of the vehicle.
[00:24:05] They recently installed my AOS from IAG. I just had brand new coil packs put in this vehicle. So the bigger maintenance and all that's always through J&D. They're great supporters and friends. Great guys. Trust their work. And they're actually having an event today. And Johnny reached out to me and was like, hey, man, are you busy? And I was like, not really. And he had asked if I was still coming. I'm like, I plan to. Yeah. And he's like, well, I need your vehicle to be the display vehicle for the show. Okay.
[00:24:33] I was like, well, yeah, now I will be there, bro. So yeah, car's washed and detailed, ready to go. So we'll be out there at the event later this evening. And the car will be at their event. Nice. Yeah. We're going to try to stop by. I don't really have anything else going on. So I might try to swing by and check it out. Yeah, a lot of other Subarus will be out there. I think it's mainly VBs. Yeah. And some other Overland guys and stuff like that. But yeah, it's going to be a good turnout. Yeah. So you mentioned a Forrester earlier. So you've got a Forrester Sport, right? Yeah.
[00:25:02] We grabbed a 21 Forrester Sport stock. Yeah. But not a stock anymore. As you guys know me, I've got ideas in my head and plans. And I try and execute if I can. Being financially savvy, if I can right now, now that we just had another baby, the wife had needed something a little more reliable. And she's always like Subaru. And she wanted a little bit something bigger than her last vehicle. And we grabbed a 21 Forrester Sport.
[00:25:33] I already put the Iron Man 2-inch lift on it. Of course. Roam box, Iron Man awning, dial dynamic ditch lights on the front and some Trailblade XT off-road tires by Arturo tires. Some meaty guys. Over time, she'll change out the wheels and put some other stuff on there. But as far as it sits now, I'd say it's pretty decent. And she's in love.
[00:26:00] Now she can actually hit the curbs and not be so worried about damaging anything because she's a bit of a curb checker. Yeah. So if y'all taking it off-road anywhere? So we've taken it out to Wimberley, out into the hill country. Okay. And we've done some crawling around on that. But as far as bigger trails and stuff, no, we haven't done that just yet. Yeah, you've got to come out to Bastrop with us sometime. Yeah, exactly. You would do just fine out there. Oh, dude, yeah. We're excited.
[00:26:25] Bastrop is – the last time that we did Bastrop, I wasn't able to go because my best friend bought tickets for us to go do something that day. And I was like – you know, I was excited to be hanging out with my best friend. But then at the same time, I'm like, I'm missing Bastrop. But I didn't know that my axles were going before that – until after that trip. So it was probably a good thing I didn't go. Right. Yeah, you just saved yourself. Yeah. So – but, yeah, and you also have the decal on the hood too. Yeah. Yeah, the little sun deflector in a topo form. Yeah.
[00:26:54] So what other – you know, you said you get things in your head and you want to start doing things. What other ideas do you have for it? So I've already got some mods here in the garage sitting for it. We got to put the water port on there and it's got the ARB dual air compressor on board that needs to go on it. Nice. Over time, she does want a different set of wheels. Not exactly sure what brand she's going to want to go with. And she's also talked about maybe putting an exhaust. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let me get some of those, brother. She wants an exhaust on it.
[00:27:23] Not too sure what, but we're going to be doing that. She'll put a front crash bar on there, maybe some more lights. She wants a little ladder on the back, the little ladder. Yeah. And some other things like that. But overall, man, that thing's been a great build. And we mainly take that thing everywhere. Yeah. Does it have more miles in your car already? Bro, it's getting close. I think we got that thing with – Did you buy it new? Used. Oh, okay. That's right, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:27:51] A little old lady had it before us. Had like right at 30-something K on it, I think. Maybe a little – no, 29. Exactly 29. And I think right now she's at almost 40-ish, 42. So I'm sure it's going to pass mine. We take that thing everywhere. Yeah, but I mean not the miles that y'all have put on it since it already had some. No, yeah. Okay, yeah. So what other information did you have for us?
[00:28:17] So like I said, I've had random people mention to me, you know, was there ever going to be a part two for Ryan's episode? You know, it's been a while. Well, there's some things we've seen on this car change. There's somebody missing that we haven't seen in a while. And so, yeah, I guess we can address – where's Bane? So Bane passed away July 29 of 22. He ended up having a prostate cancer, and he was just about 10 years old.
[00:28:45] That dude fought until the very end, still put his patrol vest on, still went to work with me every day, even through all that. Didn't show any signs of pain. But once it got near the end and I knew something was wrong and we had to let him go, we ended up going to the vet. And the doctor there is one of my friends. We were vet techs together back in the day. Now she's one of the doctors there. And Missy had showed me on the x-rays, you know, it's metastasized into his lungs. He's got these little pockets here.
[00:29:15] This is why he's not eating. This is why he's not peeing, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. And I was like willing to drop whatever it took to fix him. Yeah. But then you look at the quality of life, as in any animal, and it's like, I'm not, why try and put him through this if it's not even going to save his life? You know? And the best thing at that moment to do for Bane was to just let him go.
[00:29:41] So he's been, man, he's been super active in the car community just as much as me. He's been to Rigs and Churros. He's done demos. Yeah, that's where I first met him. Because we've done, you know, I've worked alongside the sheriffs and state troopers, working dogs, teams, sniff drills. We've done, so Bane was a huge part of me and my family. He was my right side dude. What I do for field work and to not have him here.
[00:30:08] And we're pushing three years, almost three years Bane's been gone. By this July, he's been gone three years. But it's been super cool because his legacy lives on. I remember shortly after our first episode, a lot of people love Bane's story. Yeah. And I ended up making stickers for Bane. Yeah, I remember that. And I made car stickers. Bane's stickers sold out more than the car stickers. Yeah.
[00:30:35] So it's cool to know that his sticker, man, is all over the U.S. I sent all of them out. Then I made a rebatch. Those sold out. So, yeah, I mean, if anybody wants one, you can reach out to me and I can easily send you one. I was very touched and blessed that the community that I work in here locally, friends, family, other dog trainers, local law enforcement, et cetera, et cetera. Everybody came together and they paid Bane's bill.
[00:31:05] Bane's bill was paid in full by the community and just people that he had touched and people that knew Bane. Yeah. And I was just blown away. I didn't ask for that. I didn't say, hey, I'm going to have to euthanize Bane. His bill is X amount. Can you help? Everybody was like, you know what? Let us know where we can send donations and funds. Man, his bill was paid the next day. Wow. That's crazy. I thought that was so amazing. So it's been a while.
[00:31:35] I haven't gotten back into the saddle of getting another dog of that caliber. It takes a lot of time. And also another reason is so Bane passed in 22 of July. My daughter was born in October of 22. So just months later, Olivia came and she came exactly when she needed to. Like I said, I think if I was to be, I guess, sitting in my thoughts for too long, it would just be hard. Olivia kept me busy. She's now two years old.
[00:32:04] She just turned two this past October. And being busy with her and now working for myself, being my own boss, still in dog training and working dogs and training and boarding and stuff like that has definitely kept me busy. And the bill is covered. And we've been very blessed for all that. Very thankful.
[00:32:26] And going to be looking into a new house on land and doing my own shop and continuing to be my own business person because everyone that I've been working with has proven to be like, we're only taking our animals to you. Or we only want Ryan to train our dogs. And, you know, I'm very blessed and thankful for that. You know, everybody's so trusting of me. And I've been doing this field for 22 years. That's a long time. So I really know what I'm doing when it comes to that kind of stuff.
[00:32:53] So I'm very thankful that I can continue to do that and offer this sort of service. And maybe one day down the road, I'll get another Corso. I think I'll probably get another female Corso puppy to be Bane's replacement. But right now with what I'm doing here, Olivia keeping me busy, another dog at the moment just doesn't really seem to fit. But so it will happen at one point coming soon.
[00:33:19] So when you guys see a new puppy on the page, that would be Bane's replacement. Yeah. Well, it's nice, too, that you mentioned that you're your own boss. You've been doing this for such a long time. And now you have the ability to do it for yourself and, you know, doing well enough that you can continue with the build and, you know, do some other fun stuff. Yeah, exactly. Very blessed, man, that this is even an option for me right now. Because I was looking at other jobs and applied and, you know, this and that.
[00:33:47] And I guess the dead time of waiting, clients have reached out to me and was like, well, can you do this, Ryan? Or can you try my dog? Or can you watch my dog? And I was like, yes, yes, yes. It'll keep me busy. And then it just stuck. Yeah. Yeah, that's good. That's like the best way for it to happen, you know. Oh, yeah, man. What you're already doing. This is kind of like the little part where we get to know you a little bit better. But who is Ryan? As in, like, you know, describe yourself. Yeah.
[00:34:16] So, man, I'm very outgoing. I'm not really a shy guy. I mean, I can kind of make friends with everybody I meet. Dude, I love to adventure, go out and explore Airbnbs, be out in wildlife, nature, stuff like that. And I'm also huge into anything spooky. Scary videos. Okay. Annabelle, The Conjuring, the history behind all that stuff. Man, I'm all about that. All right. It's cool.
[00:34:43] Fun fact, since we're talking about that, the house I'm actually in is actually semi-haunted. Oh, yeah. The reason being is we've had some activities happen in this house. I've heard bootsteps in the house before, way before I had kids. And things have fallen. The shelf in the garage randomly fell out of the blue. That's been up there for years and I've never had an issue. Well, then, long story short, years ago, I found out two deaths were in this house, actually, before we came.
[00:35:13] Wow. And one of them was actually a violent death. And it was actually a suicide in this house. So, you know, stuff that... You didn't know that before you... I did not. It was not explained. We did not know. But the neighbors in the neighborhood... And did you... Were you already, like, into this kind of stuff before you found that? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, for sure. You're probably like, oh, yeah. That's awesome. I was like, holy crap, man. And, like, when my son was littler, he used to say he would see, like, a little black cat in the corner. And he's never been around cats. And then things would fall.
[00:35:43] Dude, I was... So then, you know, some other friends of mine that are into, like, ghost hunting, you know, we'd get the EVPs. We'd ask questions. We'd pull up the meter where you can see the stick figures come up. And we'd catch some stuff. But I don't like to dabble in stuff like that too much. Yeah. But just the fact that we had some sort of activity here, I was like, holy crap, man. That's kind of crazy. And I guess it might be time to leave pretty soon. Yeah. Nothing's going to happen while we're here. Oh, man. I hope not. Okay.
[00:36:13] So where were you born? I was born here in Houston, Texas. Nice. Native Houstonian. Yeah. I haven't lived here my whole life. Obviously, my dad was a retired army. So I spent most of my life in Europe. So all over. We lived in Germany. I've been to Paris, Prague, Belgium. We've had some duty stations here in the U.S. Okay. But the majority was in Würzburg, Germany, Wiesbaden, where the base is.
[00:36:41] And we spent most of my younger-ish life all the way up to high school in Germany. And then we transitioned down to Fort Rucker, which is in Alabama. Okay. And then I graduated my last, what, two years of high school over there. And then been in the U.S. ever since. So we bounced around all over. That's really cool. It's fun. I do miss Europe and how it is and, you know, the cobblestone streets and the different atmosphere and stuff like that.
[00:37:10] And then because my dad was military for 22 years, my body clock is like every six months, it's like you got to move. Or every year, you got to go somewhere. And it's funny because the current house I'm at now, I've been here 13 years. Okay. And it's like, bro, we got to go. Yeah, we need to, I need a new change of scenery and doing something. So we're working on that for sure. What is a favorite memory from your childhood?
[00:37:38] Growing up in Europe and actually like late night with your friends, pizza parties and video games, man. Yeah. Like that eight-year-old stage on up kind of thing. Oh, man, I miss those days. And my son is eight now. So he's kind of in that era. Yeah. Different video games. Yeah. Oh, yeah, for sure. Exactly. Yeah. But yeah, it's, those were fond memories for sure. Okay. I did have a question, you know, like what is it you do for a living? Yeah. But we already know that.
[00:38:08] So we train dogs and I mean, that's more than just training dogs. But, and then, you know, I usually ask people like, is that, would you say that your dream job? And I think for you, it probably is. So it, it wasn't always, um, I have always liked animals and been in that field. And, you know, I was a vet tech for seven years. I've done the medical side of things, which is weird because my wife is in the medical field for humans.
[00:38:31] Mm-hmm.
[00:39:01] And I just have always, I just never had the eyes for that. Yeah. And then, uh, you know, long story short, I guess when I, uh, tried to follow my dad's footsteps, basically being in the army, um, they found out, found out that I had a hairline fracture in my spine. Not too sure where that came from. I could have been born with it. I could have took a hard fall when I was little. I don't have any major medical issues for that issue, but I was denied service because of that. I was going to be a canine handler in the army.
[00:39:31] I already knew what I wanted to do MOS and Sergeant calls me in, found my x-rays and was like, Hey man, you've got a hairline fracture in your spine. Uh, we're going to have to deny service. And I was like, Oh, okay, well that sucks. So then ever since then I've stayed in the civilian side of, you know, working dogs. And then I got Bane and then I, I progressed into that stage of, uh, I guess level of
[00:39:58] with a dog, you know, I just sit on the civilian side. And then, you know, from your basic obedience all the way up to working canines, protection work, drug sniffing, PSA, stuff like that. That's what I wanted to do. But like going back to dream job is man, flying jets, I just think would be the coolest thing. Yeah. And watching other celebrities or whatnot, YouTube, you know, being invited to fly in jets.
[00:40:28] Oh dude, one day that, that would be awesome. Yeah. Go, go take a ride along. Oh yes, exactly. Or something. Yes. And I've met the blue angels before I've met the pilots and, uh, they're, they're all very nice. And even met a couple of the female pilots that were new at the time. And I've always told them, bro, dream job. That's so awesome that you guys can do this. Yeah. And I, I look up to you guys into the service and, uh, people that are flying jets specifically. That's, that's so fun. Yeah. Yeah. That'd be cool.
[00:40:56] Besides, you know, driving your WRX and, you know, doing all the mods and everything and just being part of the community. What other hobbies do you have? Hobbies. I like, um, are reptiles. Yeah. Um, I have a whole nother little Instagram page on that. If you guys want to follow called cryptic geckos and it just highlights some of the bioactive builds that I do your naturalistic care for. Yes. I have my 12 builds in the house, all different geckos.
[00:41:25] And, uh, I just think it's really cool having like a living little piece of nature inside. It started with just like one and two tanks. And then that grew quickly as if, you know, any car build, it just, you just really can't stop. And, um, I just think that's super cool on the other side of, uh, building bioactive tanks. I've got three Honda motorcycles now started off. I sold my Grom that I had for a while and then I regretted it, missed it. And then I bought a Honda ruckus.
[00:41:52] I said, I was going to do just a couple of little things to it and just, you know, ride around. And then I fully tore it down new motor bill, powder coated wheels, stretch drop custom seat. By the way, if you haven't seen, there's some pictures on my Instagram. There's a custom made seat by cheeky seats, which has the bride all in like a confetti purple going down with a crock skin sides. Dude looks so good. That bike's been gone for about a year now. It's still being built. Okay.
[00:42:22] Um, but when it comes back, it's going to be full show ready Honda ruckus. Nice. Then I bought a Navi cause I got bored. The ruckus was gone and I'm like, well, I'll start to play with this. And then I started thinking, I'm like, you know what? I really want to do another Grom bill. So I recently last, what last week, bought a 2024 nitric orange Honda Grom that I'm going to fully build out and I'm going to keep it this time. I don't know if any other moto guys are out there. No, who steady garages, dro sports, the ruck shop.
[00:42:53] They've got some cool inspiring builds. And I had told my wife, I was like, okay, one more bike and I'll leave it be and I'll mod it slowly. Okay. So here they are sitting right behind us, the Navi and the ruckus or I mean the Grom are here. And, uh, those would be some fun little toys to do on the side. Yeah. So what is something that makes you want to get out of bed every day?
[00:43:21] I think in my current stage right now is, uh, is providing and, uh, being the best dad that I can be and just being blessed to see another day. That's, I think the biggest thing is, you know, being a good person and. Trying to be a better person than you were previous and just pushing forward, man. That's all you can do. Yep. Yeah, I agree. What is something that makes you want to stay in bed? Oh man. Like a good old stormy day. Dude, just chill and do nothing.
[00:43:48] Watch a movie, play a game, which is pretty rare for me though. Like, yeah, that would make me want to stay, but man, sometimes if you just lay around too long, it's like, oh my gosh, my joints, I got to get up. I know. Yeah. There's been times when I've been laying in bed for like, I won't necessarily be asleep, but I'll like, just like, I just want to stay in bed. Oh yeah. And then I'm like, my body hurts from laying in bed for too long. Yep. And I'm like, I got to get up and move. God dang, dude. I feel you.
[00:44:16] There's a, it's funny because, you know, obviously, you know, we don't have to deal with it here, but when I ask a lot of people that question, since a lot of people are, you know, most people are in other places, they say, you know, oh, when it's like really cold outside. Oh yeah. I just want to stay in bed. Yep. Yeah. We don't have to deal with that. Man. No, not, not often. No. I mean, what we had snow here recently, what, just a month ago? Yeah. Something like that. Yeah. We took the Subarus out. I have to.
[00:44:42] I did some photos of both the Subarus now in the snow, let the kids run around. It's funny though, because not this last round, but the last snowstorm that we had here. That was awesome. Yeah. Neighbors were all out playing around. Yeah. In the street here, I'm the only one who's backing out going for a drive. Yeah. They're like, what is this guy doing? I'm like, bro, get a Subaru and then join the family and you'll understand. Exactly. Yeah.
[00:45:09] I took mine to Cinco Ranch High School. They have a big parking lot in the back where teachers park and the band practices and it was empty and I was having fun. Yeah. Doing little donuts. Yeah. I went out there again this year, but it was a real blotchy. So like some of it was melted, some of it was frozen. So my car was just like skipping around. It didn't work, but we went in the grass and, you know, slid around. Oh yeah, dude. It's super fun, man. That all will drive for sure. Yeah. So what would be your best bit of advice to give to someone about anything?
[00:45:41] My best bit of advice would be, I'm sure some people have heard this before too, but just go for it. Just do it. Whatever is making you nervous or you're thinking about or you're on the fence about lately or you just haven't pulled the trigger, you might as well just do it. I mean, life is short. You never know when your last day could be. Go ahead and just try that new job. Try that new food. Say something to that person that you've been meaning to say, man, just, I don't know.
[00:46:11] For me, it's stepping out of your comfort zone. And, you know, now that I've had to kind of do my own thing for the last two years, I wouldn't have thought I'd be my own boss and business owner right now. And I'm, you know, just now two years in of doing it and now looking to grow even more and just make it my own thing now. I would have, bro, I would have never thought, you know, all my years of working at a shop
[00:46:38] or a business or, you know, whatever, that life would bring me here. Yeah. And I've been, you know, on the fence about what I'm doing now that I probably could have done a while ago. You just didn't, you didn't really. And I just didn't. You weren't in the circumstance that you kind of had to. Right. And I also really didn't understand, I guess, everything that goes into it. Yeah. You know, I understand it's a lot of work and everything, but now that I'm doing it now, it's kept me very busy.
[00:47:08] It's a lot of people have asked, you know, where's Ryan? You know, now I'm solely relying on myself. The car's not able to come out unless somebody comes and gets it. Yeah. And, but yeah, I would say just go ahead and, you know, just do it. You know, get out of your comfort zone, take that risk, you know, always try and be a better person each day and, you know, just continue to enjoy life and, and try and be positive. Just, just spread positivity everywhere you go. Yeah.
[00:47:37] So that's, that's, I think is main keys for everybody, man. Definitely good. Are we able to take it out for a quick spin or? Yeah. Okay. Yeah. So we're going to do some in car content too here for a little bit. Yeah. You want to hear some little boosty noises? We can do that. Heck yeah. All right. We're about to start this thing up.
[00:48:37] Patches up here. Yeah. It's nice. I like that. Looks like maybe that one fell when Johnny had it. There you go, Johnny. Ooh, K9 Addict sent me this for Bane. Riggs and Truro's, Diode, Trooper Sheriff, just a bunch of random. This, this is actually one of Bane's patches that was on him when he was working. Yeah.
[00:49:07] That's why it's all crumbly and bent. I just pulled it off his vest and put it in the car. Whoop. Yeah. I got titanium here. I want to put titanium here. Um, and then make a little button here. Got a little titanium charm. That's my titanium car. Dude.
[00:49:39] Carbon steering wheel. Carbon inside. A little mochi I added. A little driver assist. Oh, nice. That guy is pretty cool. He's not powered on right now, but it's all good. Yeah, sounds nice. Nice. Man, it'll sound way better once I get some headers and downpipe on here and it's actually pro-tuned. That's going to be awesome.
[00:50:08] You know, I probably could have done that if I didn't buy a Grom. Yeah. I could have finished that. You have a, your mirrors have a tint to them? Yeah. That's an aftermarket. That's kind of cool. Blue convex mirror. Yeah, it's pretty cool. Easy. They just pop right in. Just like pop the other one out and pop it in? Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
[00:50:37] Yeah, they sell them with a yellow tint too. Let the car come up to tint before we do anything nutty. All right. So where do you monitor that? Just the tint gauge. Oh, okay. Mine doesn't have a tint gauge. Oh, yeah? Yeah. Oh, that's the sound up there. It's because we took that chair out. Oh, yeah. The Max Trax sliding back and forth. What's that sound? Oh, yeah.
[00:51:07] We took the chair out. So you get a lot of people looking at your car. Oh, yeah, man. Thumbs up. Kids at schools. Kids are probably like, oh, that's so cool. Oh, yeah, for sure. Man, when I pick up or drop off Logan, there's times, you know, when they stand at the cone and the teacher's like, we just love your car. Or Logan will say, hey, the teacher just said they really like your car and it's the coolest car in the lineup.
[00:51:36] I was like, man, that's cool. Although, I will say there has been some kids that have been dropped off and picked up. I've seen in a Ferrari 458 and a R35 GTR. Nice. So, and to me, those two were cooler than this. So, but I mean, that's pretty cool to have kids, other people on the streets. Yeah. You know, like to build or whatnot. Yeah.
[00:52:01] I've, the most looks I've ever gotten with Pearl is after I went to this off-road park up in near Fort Worth and got her really muddy. It was right before the big event in 2022, I think. And got a lot of looks in. Oh, nice. Yeah. But like when I would drop Luke off at school, there'd be kids that would be checking it out. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Later on down the road, I want to put some new seats in this car.
[00:52:31] I like, I mean, you know, besides going like bridge seats or anything like that or Recaro. Dude, the VB Recaro seats that they came out with, I don't know if you've seen those, but OEM, those things are super nice. If I could get my hands on a set of those, oh. Yeah. That'd be awesome.
[00:53:02] Yeah, the HKS blow-up five, that thing's pretty loud. So where did this car start at with horsepower stock? Uh, I believe that's in the mid twos. Okay. Somewhere, 260, 270, something like that.
[00:53:19] Quite a bit.
[00:53:49] But like I said, once we get Pro Tune, I want to get the Tomei headers and a downpipe. It'd be, it'd be much better. But reliability wise, man, I mean, besides your normal maintenance on this vehicle, fluids, and I just recently had some coil packs on here.
[00:54:20] Uh, I haven't had any major issues with the vehicle. I take good care of it. Yeah. I'm up to date on all the maintenance. It's, it's definitely a fun car. You're at 49, 285 miles right now. So you haven't quite hit 50. You're almost there. Almost. It's definitely a fun car.
[00:54:44] Over here. And we can swap drivers. Okay. I can dig that. And you can, uh, you can bring it back home. All right.
[00:55:12] But yeah, with the charge pipe, upgraded, uh, top mount intercooler, HKS blow valve, you know, the Tomei in the back is a big thing too. I think it'd be fun like to get as a second car, like maybe just get a stock WRX or something. Yeah. Just, uh, to have fun. Just something, something that's faster. Sure. Mm-hmm. I like the new purple BRZ Subaru came out with. Yes. Um.
[00:55:41] They had that at, at, uh, Subifest, Texas. I actually really dig that. It's really nice. The, the new BRZs with a body kit and everything, man, those things look awesome. Yeah. I've driven one once, but I didn't get to drive it very far or very fast, but it was definitely fun. Um, yeah, one day, I think ultimate goal for this would be to have a Varus wide body kit on it. Mm-hmm. Maybe change the color because the car's silver. I've never liked silver.
[00:56:10] Um, but yeah, I think down the road for sure would be a Varus wide body. That's what I would want. I did, uh, swapped out the brakes on mine for the first time. Mm-hmm. For the first time in, uh, at, like, 122,000 miles. Uh-huh.
[00:56:37] That was, uh, that was an interesting job. It was fun, though. I mean, it's nice to be able to do it myself, you know? Yeah. All right. So we're going to swap drivers here. Let me drive it a little bit. Yep. Climbing in the driver's seat here. It always feels weird to be on this side, but I actually like it. Yeah. Hopefully I won't stall it. There you go. He goes by audiophile.
[00:57:05] He has a STI, and I drove his, and I stalled it. But I stalled it going in reverse, and it was the first time I'd, you know, driven anything that powerful. So to be fair, you know, I only stalled it the one time. Uh-huh. No big deal. And having a manual myself, you know, at least I know how to drive one. A lot of fast when you should. Oh, yeah. You're good. Ain't nobody going.
[00:57:58] Classic HKS. So am I just going to U-turn under here or something? Yep. That little tackle shot we just passed, he's a Subi guy also. Yeah. But he also has a R33 Skyline GTR that he just leaves at the shop every now and then. It's pretty cool. That's nice.
[00:58:39] Down to the next light. Okay. And then at a UES, and then we'll be on the other side and come all the way back. Okay. Is it UE this way or? That way. Under, okay. Yep. Crazy Texas drivers, man.
[00:59:16] There was one time I was driving with another VB guy and I wasn't even really getting on heavy boost and he had asked me when we parked, he was like, man, do you have like an upgraded blow off or anything? And I was like, I do. He's like, I can hear a lot of flutter when you're behind me. I was like, yeah, man, there's an HKS on there now.
[01:00:05] That's another thing. These Tesla guys, I like to drive with the windows down often. Yeah. Sometimes I'll get next to them and I'll hit it just right for it to blow off by them. Yeah. I'm like, gasoline, bro.
[01:00:46] Is it all the pops and bangs? I'll like merge back on and just stay straight. Okay. This is where me and my buddy Scott took his 1,000 horsepower Supra on a pull right here. Nice. It was crazy. Yeah, you'll go over here. Okay. Is that a...
[01:01:19] Just stay straight right here. I guess a PRZ coming up, either that or a... Yeah. Yeah. They gave us a wave. Ha ha. Nice. All right. I put this little brake in right here because we just drove for a while and didn't talk.
[01:01:49] So I didn't want you to just have to sit there and listen to the car noise and the freeway noise and other cars passing by and stuff, which I don't know. Maybe you would like that. But I decided to put in this little pause and then pick back up whenever we got closer to his house and then kind of wrap things up. So that's where we're at here. How many people have you actually let drive your car? Only you and one other.
[01:02:18] Yeah. That's it. Right. I feel blessed. Mm-hmm. That's it. Fun. Yeah, man. It's a fun little daily, man. It's... I like it a lot. Yeah, I remember like, you know, at the show, Bucky was walking around and expecting it. I thought that was pretty cool. He really digged it. Yeah.
[01:03:10] You ever taken this down to Gessner? I mean, gosh, not Gessner. You ever taken this down to Memorial where they have those tunnels? Mm-mm. Oh, man. It would sound so awesome. I bet. Especially with all the backfires every now and then. There's these long tunnels that they built in Memorial. It's like on the other inside Loop 610. Dude, you got to go sometime. Dang. It's because they did that as part of the whole park and everything.
[01:03:40] And there's like a lot of stuff on top of them, I think. Uh-huh. Park-wise. But yeah, it's pretty cool. Left at the stop sign? Yep. Okay. Yeah, on this side.
[01:04:05] I'll have to look at it when we get to this street. Yep. Go right. Yes, sir.
[01:04:35] This car right here doesn't know. What are they doing? No, I mean your car in your driveway. Ugh. Like this? Is this cool? Yeah. You're good. You can make it up. Shouldn't have any scratching. Sweet.
[01:05:06] Thank you. Yeah, man. I appreciate that, man. That's awesome. Absolutely. You're welcome. My son has one of these. It's cool. Oh, you got the little lights inside? All right. We got it done. Sweet. Hey, man. Thank you so much for hopping on the mic again and recording another episode. It was a blast, man. It's been a while for sure. Yeah, I can't believe it's been over three years.
[01:05:31] Yeah, glad we could give everybody an update on the car and life in general. Yeah, it's always fun. Yeah, we'll have to do it again. Yeah, I know. Hopefully we get bigger and better things. Always want to step it up just a little bit. Yeah, yeah. Cool, man. Thanks again and stay in touch. Absolutely. Yeah, I've gotten a lot of pictures, so you can use all those for your episode. Heck yeah. I'll put together a little reel. Nice. Yeah, cool, man. Thanks. Yeah, absolutely, brother. Thanks. You're welcome. Later.
[01:06:00] Thank you, everybody, for tuning in to another episode of the Subi and You podcast. And thank you so much, Ryan, for hopping on the mic again and recording part two of your Subaru journey in your life story. The first time that he and I recorded, I had my full podcast set up with my podcast mixer, microphones, headphones. And it was my old setup. It was before I had gotten another microphone. And it was before I had mic stands.
[01:06:29] So we were like having to hold the mics the whole time. But this was nice. I mean, we were holding these mics the whole time. But it was my Rode Wireless Pro. And that makes it so much better for this kind of occasion. Because we could just sit there and only have one piece of equipment to hold. But it's also nice because then you can do in-car recording and get some content that way.
[01:06:54] So I think that this setup is so great because it's made mobile podcasting so much better. And of course, this is what I'm going to take with me to Overland Expo. And it's just going to be so nice because it's so minimal. And it makes it so much easier to travel with. So I really, really love my Rode setup. And I mean, my podcast mixer is Rode. Rode, my mic that I'm using right now that I'm recording with is Rode.
[01:07:24] So great products from Rode. I really, really like them a lot. So this will wrap up this episode, episode 198, which comes before another number. And we're also getting closer to 200. So that's pretty cool. Over four years, 200 episodes. And I'm still here. You're still here listening. And I really, really appreciate it. Thank you so much, everybody, for sticking around.
[01:07:49] And we will see you next Monday on a Subie Scoop. And then the following Monday on a Subie Scoop. And then three weeks from today, we'll have another guest episode.
